Resolved: Lost license
- - My PC crashed, and I can't transfer the AVS4YOU license to a new PC.
- - The license is per-computer, requiring a new license.
Online Media Technology has sent a valid new license for me to install in the new computer, althought they still insist that their interpretation upon "per computer" basis means a "unique computer". They have alleged, in order to send me a new license that I "may not have read or received the EULA doc". I insist that their interpretaion is solid wrong, because companies like MICROSOFT (Windows-10 + Office), ADOBE, SHREDDER, to name a few, agreeded promptly in sending me a valid new license to install in the new computer.
I have bought a permanent license for AVS4YOU video software, but my PC have crashed completely. Só I try to reinstall the software im my new compute.
I did that with the SAME Windows, Office, Adobe Acrobat, all other software licenses BUT AVS4YOU. When I tried I got the answer "you cannot use the software in two computers". Then I have sent a message to AVS4YOU teling them that my old PC was gone, dead, and I need to reinstall.
The answer was crazy: "we sell software in a PER COMPUTER basis, so you have to BUY other license, follow this link...". That means that if my computer crashes in the following day I bought AVS4YOU software then I loose both computer and software???
- Software when i bought it
- License is a lie
- It is not per computer
- It is per specific pc if it crashes you loose the license
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
Customer Service is getting worse with this company!
- - Upgraded to Windows 10; can't install old AVS keys; license expired.
- - AVS hasn't replied; may be out of business.
- - Won't buy more licenses.
Like other folks, I was duped into another 'unlimited' license but unfortunately upgraded to Windows 10 since, leaving my machine hopelessly messed up. I cannot install the old keys and it claims the license has expired.
There has been no reply from AVS so I am wondering if maybe they went out of business? From reading this forum I believe AVS will probably just try to sell me yet another license, of which I already have two.
I will probably NOT buy yet another copy and would urge people to use freeware utilities instead of AVS now. I got robotic (moronic) responses in 2013 and 2015 with this company and will not buy a third 'unlimited' subscription
- Unlimited is a scam

License Key
- - One license works on one computer; changing PCs requires an additional license.
- - You must accept the license at setup; rejecting stops.
I have had a problem with AVS4YOU. I had to purchase a new computer and emailed AVS4YOU to obtain my license key as I had purchased the Unlimited Subscription. I was told by the AVS4YOU support that I will have to purchase the software again.
Below is the response from AVS4YOU
Dear user,
One license can be activated only on one computer, so if you change your PC you will need to buy an additional license.
We would like to draw your attention to the official license agreement which you should accept or reject while installing AVS programms. Note that if you reject the agreement the installation process will stop. If you accept the agreement and continue with the installation process it means that you agree with all the conditions of the license policy.
Thank you for your understanding.

Scam on lifetime license - DO NOT SUPPORT SUCH COMPANIES
- - Lifetime license is limited to the original computer.
- - The Free option pushes users to a paid plan.
- - Free features stop working after a period.
Like many others I had a lifetime license and the company changed their policy since my purchase to state that the license is only valid on the very original computer you install the software on. Bad business practice to change the terms of the license after the license has been purchased. This is a reminder of ATT and Verizon business practives with their contracts.
Their "Free" is a ploy to force you to the commercial offering. They trick you with the "Free" and after install the features you probably expected to work do not work. And the Free product stops working after a period of time.

AVS 4 you
- - I paid $46.80 via Worldpay for another year of the software.
- - I expected warnings about charges and how they are billed; I plan to complain to AVS.
I have used this software for viewing some videos that are on non-standard formats very successfully for a while. Suddenly I have found that I have paid $46.80 through Worldpay for the privilege of using it for another year.
I have no objection to paying for a service i need but I expect to be forewarned that I am going to be charged and how. I think this is sneeky so I intend to formally complain to AVS.
Even the Worldpay bill does not mention AVS on it so it will be hard to track down so I could just as easily have been scammed in which case i will owe AVS an apology.
AVS4you Stinks - unscrupulous Thieves
- - AVS4you offered 1-year and unlimited lifetime plans.
- - Unlimited plan was about $80; expired after four months; support cited multi-device use.
AVS4you.com had 2 offers at the time (and still the same today), the 1 year subscription and the unlimited subscription. with the 1 year subscription, you could download as many of the AVS programs as you want, for up to a year. with the unlimited subscription, you could download as many of their programs as you wanted forever, for the price of about $80. i opted for the unlimited subscription as it was only $20 more than the 1 year, and was supposed to last a lifetime.
well, i was actually very happy with their products, but low and behold, i tried to use their video editor one day, and i am shown a message saying that my subscription had expired, and that i would need to renew my subscription. this was only about 4 months after buying it.
i immediately went to their web site and sent in the complaint, thinking there was a mistake. they messaged me back and said that i tried to install it on more than one computer. i had only 1 computer at the time! i replied telling them that and they never returned the message. i tried again and nothing. they don't have a phone number and the only way to contact them is via e-mail. now i'm 80 bucks down the drain and still scurrying for a video editor. i haven't been able to edit a video in over half a year.

- Unlimited scam on my computer

Got your money, now you are on your own!
- - AVS4YOU subscription; features were mostly pleasing.
- - Online download/registration required.
- - Support delayed resolution; a new subscription is required.
I purchased a full subscription of AVS4YOU software and was fairly pleased with most of the features. As with most new software, the download and registration must be completed online. In the old days, you bought your software subscription on a disk with an authorization key and if your software, or computer, failed you reloaded the program.
Well, my hard drive gave up and I had to buy a new computer. Luckily, most of my important software was on disk and I reloaded and then, if needed, I contacted the vendor for a new authorization number. When I contacted AVS4YOU support, 1st they gave me the run around about not being able to find my account information. When I finally gave them the information, they then told me "oh by the way you just have to buy another subscription anyway!" They could have just told me that in the beginning instead of causing me to spend most of a day looking for my original purchase information. All anyone wants anymore is your money and after that, you are on your own! I will buy from another vendor but only after I am referred to one by a person I know.
With regards yo the AVS4YOU software, it is mediocre at best. I would recommend shopping around.

DON'T BUY; AVS4YOU - License is NOT valid for a LIFETIME
- - Lifetime licenses cover one computer only; you can't activate on a new PC.
- - AVS4YOU programs have bugs, especially image and audio sync.
DON'T BUY IT !
AVS4YOU offers you to buy a LIFETIME license, but actually this LIFETIME license ONLY counts for the very one computer, on which where you activate the license. If you later buy a new computer, you can NOT activate you license - you will have to buy a new license.
(NOT meaning running two computers simultaneously!)
So, who has the same one computer running for a LIFETIME?
AVS4YOU tells you about this in their official license agreement. Who cares to read that?
Moreover most of the AVS4YOU programs has a lot of BUGS, that makes it really annoying to work with. Specially image and audio sync sucks badly (but also a lot of other bugs).
- Anyone can check this for confirmation on their website forum-board.
- Lifetime license deception fraud
Unlimited Subscription Ripoff
- - Unlimited subscription; product is good.
- - Used on several PCs; only one in use at a time.
- - Support not responsive; 48-hour stated response not met.
On 2/4/2009 I purchased an unlimited subscription. Love the product. In the past 4 years I have gotten 3 or 4 computers. (ok..when I see a good deal on a computer that is better than the one I have I grab it) I have installed the software on all the computers. However, it is only on 1 computer that I'm using at a time. In other words when I get a new computer I reformat the hard drive on the old one and give it to someone in need of a computer. I have 1 computer with the software. When I tried to put my license code into the new one I got that I am in violation of the user agreement buy installing the software on multiple computers. Well I don't see it like that since I am only using it on 1 computer. I emailed them on the 19. NO REPLY. On the 20th I messaged them on face book and got
Sylvia, we answer support question within 48 hours as it is stated on our official site www.avs4you.com
. Could you specify your e-mail as we can help you.
I did specify my email addres and haven't got any reply.
Their software is good and I didn't mind paying for it. However, there customer service is the worst. If they had been nice about answering me I might have even paid 59.00 again. (I have used it for 3 plus years) BUT since they can't even be bothered to email me back......there is other software out there.
AVS 4 you subscription scam
- - Bought AVS Unlimited for lifetime use.
- - Subscription expired after 4 months, support blamed multi-PC use, I had only one, no phone support, $80 lost.
Just so you guys know I\'m a real person out there, with a real life: youtube.com/supersnot4
about a year ago, i got 2 brand new HD cameras. i use them for various things like youtube and personal things. however, i needed a video editor/converter for them, as windows movie maker was unreliable and could not edit .mov videos. so i went scouring the internet and found the AVS video converter, by Online Media Technologies, Ltd.
they had 2 offers at the time (and still the same today), the 1 year subscription and the unlimited subscription. with the 1 year subscription, you could download as many of the AVS programs as you want, for up to a year. with the unlimited subscription, you could download as many of their programs as you wanted forever, for the price of about $80. i opted for the unlimited subscription as it was only $20 more than the 1 year, and was supposed to last a lifetime.
