Cheated out of $400
On Target Sports (OTS).. The managers for this place are just outright DISHONEST. This would be the long haired, bearded manager and his knuckle dragging Trogladite co manager.
I did some business with OTS. I made sure to get the price confirmed from both of them before committing to the transaction. Once I was called to pick up my item, the price magically went up $405. Both managers denied ever having spoken to me and proceeded to call me a liar. They had my weapon and there was nothing I could do but pay the fee or they would not release my weapon. They held my weapon for ransom, Literally.
This place is worse than Shooters and I never thought I would EVER hear myself say that.
The behind counter staff are as good as they can be, given 2 idiots running the store. The managers are proud to stand around and tell "war stories" which really means *** They try to impress those around by their tall tales. Heaven help if a female in shorts and a tank top comes in. Then it is break out the shovels, it's gonna get deep.
The Range Safety Officers are first rate and very helpful, given their environment. "I just work here and management makes those decisions" is a common phrase as they shake their heads in disgust.
OTS lacks any kind of variety of firearms, almost no ammo, which would mean their main source of income would be the range, so screwing customers would make sense. They give advice to customers that should be criminal. For example: the clerk that tried to sell a middle aged lady a weapon. She said this was her first gun and she wanted to get something for home and self defense. He suggested an AR15 pistol and proceeded to the west wall to show her the ARs..First Gun an AR, for someone with NO knowledge of firearms?? ? The clerk suggested it was a smaller version of the AR15. He told her it could be carried in a large purse or a backpack. REALLY??? I wanted so badly to interject myself into that conversation and help the lady from a big mistake. Fortunately she did not make a purchase. Hopefully she contacted someone with firearm knowledge to help her and her decision. One can only hope this was an isolated incident but what are the odds?? Taking advantage of people seems to be the theme.

I got my rifle fixed by a competent gunsmith. I am yet to hear from OTS.
Their gunsmith is a complete imbecile, totally incompetent...in my learned opinion (military small arms expert). I gave them a rifle for a simple scope mount and bore sight. Easy job for a trained gunsmith, right? The first one, he stripped the scope mount and the scope fell off after the 8th round while attempting to zero it in. After paying $35 for a shoddy (at best0 job I sucked it up and BOUGHT another scope mount and took it back to them. HEY anybody can have a bad day. After a week sitting in the storage room, my rifle hadn't been touch. After several phone calls, I was promised it would be completed that very evening. The gunsmith showed up, WITHOUT his tools, to complete my mount (really?). He called me at home and assurred me it would be done the next evening so I could use it on my hunting trip. I drove from Waycross, Georgia (hunt camp) to retrieve my rifle. GUESS WHAT. It hadn't been touched. I got another call from the gunsmith apologizing, making excuses, saying he misunderstood, wasn't his fault, He tripped over a rock, the sun was in his eyes, you name it.
In all it took 2 weeks of my rifle sitting in their storage room with absolutely nothing accomplished. If I could charge them rent for having my rifle for this long, I would. This is not just a $200 rifle. This is a $2000.00 quality rifle I was trusting these idiots with. The rest of the staff were pleasant enough. As knowledgeable as you would expect for $9.00 hour counter help.
The day manager was as lost as a ball in high weeds. He apologized, made excuses, it wasnt his fault, the gunsmith isnt an employee ( a contractor), yada yada yada.
DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE WORK ON/TOUCH YOU WEAPON.
I WAS HOPING THIS PLACE WOULD BE A PLEASANT CHANGE FROM SHOOTERS (ON THE SOUTHSIDE) WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF, BUT I WAS SORELY MISTAKEN.
IT APPEARS THE WORK QUALITY OF "TRADESMEN" IS NO LONGER PRESENT.
STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR WEAPON.
They "might" ' be able to sell you a weapon but dont expect ANYTHING if it needs repair or adjustments.
Hopefully I am the only one who has had to endure sheer incompetence through On Target Sports. No other reviews have said anything about the gunsmithing aspect. All the other reviews I read were positive so I thought I would try doing business with them.
I have a 1700 acre hunt preserve and do a lot of purchasing of firearms and supplies and many clients look to me for advice as to where to purchase firearms, supplies, ammo etc.. I also use gunsmith on a regular basis. On Target Sports will NOT be getting any of my business. This was a trial run to see what type of service I could expect. WHAT A LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I am glad I went in with only a minor issue.
- If i could rate them a zero i would
Preferred solution: I want to warn others of the type of service and avoid at all costs.

I was contacted by the owner (early on after he read my review) and he promised to take care of the issue to "make it right", it is mid December, I guess he was just talk, like many others. Par for the course.
