This is a great place I really don't have no complaint and only complaint I do have is Omar exotic birds it a little more expensive than any other exotic bird store especially the bird cages they have the nerve to tell you if you buy a bird from them you get 15% off the cage that's crazy the cage is ridiculous High you can find that cages the same price after you put the 15% on it it's still high I found the same cage they was trying to sell me for 200 something dollars I bought it for a hundred $24

Wonderful Place

I'v had 3 birds over the years from Omar's. First in response to the comment about birds being in cages....bird lovers have their birds out of the cage a great deal of the time. Ok I get it. Birds are meant to fly. But the employees at Omars are experts and have the birds best interest in mind. I've met several bird owners over the years and they care for their birds as if they are their children. These birds are healthy and guaranteed healthy. They receive grooming for a life time free. I also think it's terribly cruel to place a bird in a cage and ignore it. They are very intelligent and need a great deal of attention. Don't blame the breeders for neglectful owners.

OMARS EXOTIC BIRDS - Review in Pet Stores category

I love Omar's. They're the best in the bird business. I've had birds for 30 years and Omar's takes the best care of my birds. My birds are happy when I pick them up from boarding, unlike at other places. And they are groomed beautifully and for a reasonable price at Omar's. They are helpful and knowledgable. The negative comments here are from people who didn't do their research before buying a bird.

Omar's Exotic Birds NIGHTMARE

We purchased an Cockatoo from this company and now we know why they don't bother to educate you about what you are really getting into. We now realize that exotic birds DO NOT even belong in cages. I don't know how this guy sleeps at night. My wife has cried so many tears with watching this poor creature pull out it's feathers and scream at the top of it's lungs for attention. They pick because they get bored. No matter what you do right it will still be a nightmare. PLEASE, PLEASE RECONSIDER BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ANY BIRD. DON'T DO IT!

Thank you for this - people should research and more research before getting a large bird. And if you HAVE to have one, find a rescue. The bigger birds live up to 60-80yrs old - Can anyone really make that big of a commitment?

Hey Anonymous,

You're a complete tool~! I'm laughing right now.

Haven't been on this site for some time only to see your numerous, uneducated responses. Get a life. Watch The Plight of The Captive Parrot, learn the statistics and know what you are talking about before you comment. Birds should not be in cages, period.

Go to another forum. This one is for grown-ups.

Do your research before buying a bird. Everyone knows that.

That's how cockatoos are. Don't blame Onar's for being naive.

A lot of people think it would be so cool to own an exotic bird but fail to educate themselves before making a purchase. Kind of like buying a Ferrari and finding out after the fact that it's not really a good daily driver and then blaming the dealer for their own ignorance.

Most birds love their human family's if cared for properly and receive plenty of interaction. Some birds do not. When you purchase a bird try letting the bird choose you instead of you choosing the bird. Do plenty of reading on the responsibilities involved with your purchase and the needs of the actual bird you are interested in purchasing.

Many exotic birds are highly intelligent and need to be stimulated just as we humans do.

Exotic birds do best when treated as part of the family witch would be the "flock" or with a buddy. Get educated instead of blaming the store owner for your own ignorance.

Or find a bird rescue and rescue a bird your own age - these birds live 60-80 yrs, what are people even thinking getting baby birds?

Guest

if you buy a bird you have to be devoted and have time for it.. don't blame omars its your fault for not being fully commited

Guest

You're not that bright when it comes to animals are you?

Guest

Dear Catty,

Thank you for your comment and support. We are working hard at getting the laws changed so that these poor creatures can never be sold into captivity.

It's going to take some time but after the experience we've had I've become a warrior at getting the necessary changes made. Tell everyone you can....DON'T BUY A BIRD~!

:)

These bright and happy beings are not sold into captivity, that's illegal. They are born into what like properly bred dogs, are good & happy homes. If YOU own a dog, you are a slave owner, if you honestly have those misguided beliefs about birds.

First Mr. or Mrs.

Anonymous, you need to go back to school as your grammar is atrocious. You sound very ignorant. You have know idea the great lengths we went to keeping this bird happy. Building an outdoor aviary the size of bedroom.

Two separate cages, organic food, the bird was never left alone and still....all they want to do is be a bird~! Which includes flying, foraging and mating. You take all of that away and they are understandably MISERABLE~! We spent over $15,000 trying to make him happy and it simply doesn't work because they are NOT MEANT TO BE IN CAPTIVITY~!

The bird rescues are so full because an unhappy/feather picking parrot is the norm and people just relinquish them wanting to get rid of "the problem child". Watch the plight of the captive parrot and keep your sophomoric opinions to yourself~!

Omar's Exotic Birds

This man is all about the money. They will sell you a bird leading you to believe that if you do everything right they make great companions. Nothing could be further from the truth about owning an exotic parrot. They will start to scream, *** and pick out all of their feathers because they are supposed to be flying free. Not in cages! Now this *** wants to franchise his business to make more money off of the suffering of these poor, sensitive, highly intelligent creatures. Next Life Omar...you're coming back as a bird in a cage in Mexico....Please do not purchase a parrot and save yourself extreme heartache and stress.

OMAR'S EXOTIC BIRDS ARE IRRESPONSIBLE RETAILERS

The lack of education they refuse to provide without an additional fee only proves the greed and lack of care with this organization. As long as they sell a bird it doesn't matter and then you come home with a whole host of problems. The start to pick, ***, and scream all because you put them in cage where they don't belong. You can do everything right and they still are miserable. Eclectus are a very hard breed to even feed let alone keep happy. Please reconsider if you are thinking of purchasing one of these complex and sensitive creatures. Shame on you Omar. Shame on you.

Omar's Exotic Birds

The man that owns this store has no regard for the captive parrot at all. He is all about the money. Do not be fooled into buying an animal that is basically a two year old in a cage for the next 50-60 years of your life. You will be miserable, the exotic bird will be miserable. Our experience with owning a parrot was nothing short of traumatic. Omar is now trying to franchise his business, further continuing the abuse of these poor sensitive creatures. The exotic bird rescues are full. Thanks Omar. Next life...maybe you'll be a bird in cage.

OMAR'S EXOTIC BIRDS IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY

They will never tell you the reality of putting a bird in cage. They blame you that you are not doing right by the bird. Omar should be so very, very ashamed of himself. I hope he comes back as a bird in a cage. Please, please reconsider before purchasing this sensitive and high maintenance animal. There are up to 50 birds a day being forced into surrender because they start to ***, scream and pick their feathers. Only because they are unhappy. They are meant to fly and be free. Do the right and mature thing no matter how beautiful they are. It turns into a nightmare very quickly.
