I called customer service got a live agent and, she was very very helpful, I am very well pleased.

Questionable ethics at best
an agent came to our home and signed us up for a policy.... PROBLEM told once the detailed policy information was mailed to us they would begin to automatically take out money for the policy each month well we are several months down the road and guess what?? the Fraudulent company has sent ZERO to us on this policy I don't even have a policy number!! Yet guess what? you guessed it they taking money each month on this policy yet I have ZERO information on this policy!!

Cancelling my insurance over telephone
I called Raul Sarabia. He said he wasn't on the office right then but that he would cancel it when he got back to the office. I explained to him that I couldn't afford it cause Social Security had reduced the amount of money that they were sending me every month so I couldn't afford it right now. This month my bank statement has $42.07 deducted from my checking account for Old American Insurance Company. I think they should have done like I told them and cancelled it last month. I mean how long does it take to cancel an insurance policy anyway?

Old American Insurance - Customer Care Review
My elderly father-in-law replied to some sort of solicitation. The representative came to his apartment and actually had him filling out life insurance paperwork. He's had multiple Strokes, has prostate cancer, dementia and has no money. Also, he can barely speak. Apparently, representative got mad because he wouldn't sign the application and wanted me to review it as I'm in the business. The representative ripped the application in half and walked out. I find this company predatory, unethical and an insult to an industry that I've represented for over 20 years.

I just discovered my 75 yr old Mother signed up for 2 life insurance policies with Old American. If she paid into it like it was setup she would have paid the face value of each policy in a few years yet its setup to continue to bill her.
I tried to call the agent in Missoula MT numerous times leaving voicemails but never returned my calls. When I called the KC office and cancelled both policies I had some questions but was rudely brushed off with no answers. This is a prime example of the elderly being preyed on. This agent and company should be ashamed of themselves.
What kind of company would continue to bill a customer after they paid the entire death benefit? It looks like Old American would. Anyone who can add wouldn't take this policy. It is a complete rip off and scam.
They are stealing from the elderly plain and simple. My Mother is out thousands of dollars.
Old American Insurance Company of Kansas City, Missouri has been committing INSURANCE FRAUD for over 35 years. There are state and federal laws against this.
Old American's Regional Vice President, Dennis McCarty, taught agents how to get senior citizen applicants to initial health questions on the burial insurance application before the medical information is filled out. This gets the company off the hook for paying a claim in the first two years of the policy. The company will claim that the applicant lied on the application and deny the death claim benefits.The worst insurance agency that is doing this is the John "Andy" McAfee Insurance Agency of 714 Broadway in Hannibal, Missouri. Andy's father mastered the "clean sheet" application many decades ago and taught Andy how to do the same thing.
They will have the applicant initial and sign the application while it is still blank and then go in and fill the application out later intentionally leaving off medical problems from the application in order for the policy to be issued through their Underwriting Department at O.A. Agents at this agency will also forge signatures and initials on the applications at times. They will misrepresent the policies and claim that the policy's cash value is like a "savings account". All of this is Insurance Fraud, Misrepresentation and forgery.
Steer clear of Old American Insurance Company and the John "Andy" McAfee Insurance Agency of Hannibal, Mo.
They are committing fraud in numerous states. Dave Ramsey , the financial radio christian personality, says that this type of insurance is "junk".
If you have been in the business for 20 years then you should know that since agents are self-employed it's not the company, it's the agent.
