Many issues
- - Sales rep provided incorrect cost info and missed items.
- - Wet bar was omitted, costing $10,000.
- - Elevation upgrade cost $10,000 and delays.
Sales rep made numerous mistakes about cost of house and providing incorrect information. After signing contract I found she forgot to include wet bar.
Her mistake cost me an additional $10,000. I was contacted a few months later from signing contract and informed I had to upgrade my the elevation on the house because once again sales rep made a mistake. Oakwood has a policy 3 houses can't have the same e elevation. That cost an additional $10,000.
Date of closing was a disaster due to their recommended lender didn't order appraisal so we were unable to close. Promised closing would happen the following day even though appraisal take 4 days to complete. Following day movers arrived and we are told by Oakwood closing rep that we needed to have movers take their time and Oakwood would pay for the extra time. Two thirty is cut off time to close, moving truck is loaded and closing is once again canceled due to wrong client information placed on appraisal file.
Oakwood closing rep instructs us to have movers unload everything in the new house garage and return the next day to unload and Oakwood will pay movers for extra day. She told us to get a hotel for the night and have dinner on Oakwood, buy clothes and essentials for the next day, put dogs in boarding, save receipts and Oakwood will pay as long as we bring receipts. Closing day finally arrives. Receipts are submitted as instructed.
Oakwood refused to reimburse us for everything they promised to take care of. After paying over half a million dollars on the house I have experienced nothing but building issues, appliance issues, etc. I purchased all appliances through the Oakwood Homes design studio. No Thanksgiving for me because new stove didn't work.
But hey, they apologized for the inconvenience. I purchased a washing machine through Oakwood Homes design studio with extra large drum only to find it doesn't work for regular size capacity never mind large loads. Their response is too bad on you. Since there is nothing broken with the washer there is nothing they can do.
These are just the highlights. I haven't even addressed all the stuff that still need to be fixedstat

Oakwood homes stole my money when it should be refunded. Do not do business with this builder you will waste alot of money and when their preferred lender doesn't approve they will keep your earnest money. Worst experience of my life uncaring, unethical, and dishonest company.
