Poor service and damaged goods

  • - Purchased a sectional in September with a 5-year warranty.
  • - Two pieces arrived damaged; one broke; only one exchange; assistant manager unresponsive.

I purchased a sectional in September and I purchased it as they told me that it has a 5 year warranty no matter what happens to it. Once it was delivered two pieces of the sectional were scratched and broken so I had to replace those.

Now one of those pieces is broke again and they are telling me that my warranty only covers one exchange. I have had a few conversations with the assistant manager and she hasn't been helpful and never gets back to me on this. I have emails I have sent to the assistant manager as well as to the official Furniture row web site but NO ONE gets back to me to get my sectional fixed.

At this point I just want to return it. Please help.

  • - Oak Express bed and dining set; delivery 3 weeks early.
  • - Regional Manager called quickly.
  • - $49 fee to add a nightstand; required a new application.

I bought a bed and a dining room set from Oak Express. Initially I was told it would be the end of the month before they came in.

I had some questions and asked that the Regional Manager call me and he did, just a few hours later. My furniture came in 3 weeks early! The only complaint, a minor one, I wanted to buy the nightstand that went with my bed and Progressive said I would need to fill out another application and pay them another $49 fee.

Needless to say, I am not going to do that. That was my only complaint, just wish the salesman told me at the time of the sale that I would be unable to add any items after sale was completed.

Pros:
  • Great service and fast delivery
Cons:
  • Explanation of financing was incomplete

  • - Ordered a table and chair set in December 2017 with pickup promised.
  • - Delay extended to February 2018; the salesman was rude and would not apologize.

Bought a table and chair set December 2017. Was told it would be ready for pick up in January 2018.

We went to the store to check on our order and salesman was rude and said it now wouldn't be ready until Feb 2018. He said we can just cancel our order if we don't want to wait. He also said he would NOT apologize from them being delayed another month.

I wish I would've read all the terrible reviews before I wouldn't ever shopped there. Never again

Oak Express - Furniture Set Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Bed set had three delivery issues: missing chest, incomplete pieces, hardware forgotten.
  • - Drew went above and beyond: two trips and hardware cut.

I ordered a bed set from Oak Express and had not one, not two, but THREE delivery issues. The chest didn't come, then they didn't have all the pieces, and lastly the hardware was forgotten.

Luckily, I had a great salesman, Drew, who went above and beyond for me. Making two trips out to my home bringing hardware he personally cut for me. He remained professional and calm in what was an extremely frustrating situation for me as a first time furniture buyer.

I hope everyone is fortunate enough to have a Drew when experiencing issues like these. Furniture row is lucky to have him.

Terrible company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Warehouse Manager for Oak Express/ Bedroom Expressions for ~14 months.
  • - Fired after medical leave for a back injury and bracelet incident.

I worked for Furniture Row for about a year, maybe 14 months. I was the Warehouse Manager for Oak Express/ Bedroom Expressions. It was the worst job I have ever had. They paid me good, but the company did not work with me at all. I got into a car wreck one night and messed up my back, leaving me unable to perform my job. I got x-rays done and a note from a doctor saying I was to be in bed for a month. A whole month away from the row.

While I was away, I heard that the district manager was trying to fire me. My friend worked next door at the warehouse in Denver Mattress. He told me everything.

When I cam back to work, they seemed to be wanting to get rid of me. Making my life miserable and even threatening to make me take a hair follicle test for something they found in the Warehouse. Even though I have not done drugs a day in my life, and the fact that i am not the only one who was in and out of the Warehouse. No worries though because I kept insisting that they do it. Well, they must have known I was not scared b/c they did not test me.

They ended up firing me because I wore a bracelet that said 'I Heart Boobies'

That bracelet is for breast cancer awareness. The district manager insisted that the bracelet was inappropriate and made customers feel uncomfortable. Weird, because when I go to ANY warehouse to pick up a TV, furniture, or anything, I could not care less what the warehouse employees were jamming out to or looked like. All I want is my things that I bought loaded in to my truck so I can be on my way. Is that not what everyone else wants?

So ya, a bracelet got me fired. Just an excuse to rid of me b/c the manager and I did not get along. You don't have to like your boss, just do your job. That's what I did, they just didn't like that I got hurt for a month.

Lastly, just a non trust worthy company. They do some shady things. As the Warehouse Manager, I was in charge of what came in on the semi and what didn't. At times, when the Semi opened the doors, product fell out and broke. I was told to put it up and when it got sold, don't tell the customer what happened. There were times when I accidentally damaged furniture and was told to epoxy it together again, paint over it, or just try to hide it and blame it on the customer when I load it. Very poor customer service. They also did not have a system for me to use to let me know if the product was there or not. I simply just had to know. I would also mix and match pieces from other furniture sets. Very shady, hated doing it, but needed a job.

Basically, do not give these people your money. Just don't do it

Sounds like someone's a little butt hurt about losing their job and is now trying to blame them for you not being a good employee. Losers usually do make excuses....

  • - Bought 4 chairs, vanity with bench, hall shelf, and bookcase with desk from Oak Express; their furniture lasts.
  • - Oak Express isn’t in Sacramento, California.

I bought: 4 chairs , 1 vanity with bench, hall shelf for shoes, bookcase with desk from the Oak Express in Popular Bluff, Missouri and was very satisfied with the; looks, quality, workmanship and price. Their Oak furniture is meant to last and be passed down through the generations. We do not have an Oak Express in Sacramento, California and their type of furniture is hard to find.

I understand the company is going through hard times which is unfortunate. Junk stores seem to be taking over and price over quality in our disposable society. Oak Express...is NOT of that low caliber.

Bought table, chairs bench for family. Was expected a 2 week wait, paid advance, cash.

I called 2 weeks later, was told by store manager that it was back order for 2 months at, PK Pillow Kingdom Company in Malaysia. They do not stock or inventory furniture and wouldn't sell the displayed table set. Manager is blaming sales employee. I could of bought the same dining set, at Ashley furniture same day delivery.

I got the corporate number to give feedback of customer purchases. Call voicemail and several hangups.

Shoddy craftsmanship

AI Highlights
  • - Spent over 6K on a dining set; the table arrived scratched.
  • - Hutch arrived late with scratched glass, and doors misaligned with light gaps.

I spent over 6K on a dining set with china hutch. The table came scratched (Box cutter?). I accepted a discount on it rather than exchange it. The china hutch came later. I even bought the warranty on that. A few days after it came and I had time to really look at it, I noticed the glass was scratched.

I know glass scratches, I just figured for that price I should be the one who eventually scratches it. I didn't want a discount. I want one without scratches.

No problem. They sent me a new one. When it arrived at the house, the delivery guys checked the issue on the one I had inside and then went out to the truck and double checked what they were bringing me. THEY came back inside and said they had two on the truck and they were both scratched even worse than the one I currently had. They would bring another one tomorrow. I never even saw the hutches that day.

They delivered another one the next day. The glass was fine, and all looked good. Then we tested the lights and suddenly you could see the 3 cabinet doors were not hung correctly. Once the lights were on it was very obvious.

Two of the doors sat high, and had a large gap of empty space on the bottom of them, which in turn let a beam of light shine through underneath them. The other door, sat low, and had a beam of light shine through above the door. Three doors, Two beams of light on the bottom, one on the top.

The handles weren't level but why would they be? (beams of light indicated how that would turn out)

It had to go back. The delivery guy agreed. No problem.

Once again, another one was delivered. I showed these guys what the problem was then they had me go look at the one on the truck - which had the same door issue.

The guy on the ground told me their manager said I am supposed to tell you "This would be the very last delivery and you will have to go to the warehouse and pick one out to be delivered if this one didn't work for you".

Didn't work for me? Ohhhhh. I get it.

Translation? This is my fault. It's me. I'm that person. I am the hard to please person.

That's true. I actually expect that $1700.00 (the portion of the 6k that was the hutch) will buy me a hutch that has "scratch free glass and doors that are level".

I do. I expect that, and I am deeply insulted that Oak Express does not.

Looking back. My first one didn't have a problem with the doors being level at all. They were perfect. It looked fabulous all lite up at night. It had scratched glass. .... And you know what - I honestly wish I would have just kept my *** mouth shut and kept the *** thing and sucked it up. Because it's turning into the ridiculous.

I now have to drive 40 miles away to personally pick out one that is made well...because what?

They aren't all made well?

My question is....

Shouldn't they be?

  • What i found
Cons:
  • How it showed up

Refused to sell an item

  • - Display linens can’t be sold until removed and bagged.
  • - They won't be notified when stock is available; no calls were made.
  • - Bedspread was gone and sold later.

Terrible, careless customer service! Last spring I wanted to immediately buy a nice (probably $200) bedspread.

I was told they don't sell the display linens until they are removed from the beds and bagged (as several other linens were for sale that day), but I could leave my contact info and they would call when I could buy it. At the same time, my mother inquired about a particular style of wood desk. She also asked to be inform when the stock was available. We never received any calls.

A couple months later, I return to discover the bedspread gone and sold. Now why would a company display something that they would (eventually) sell but put off a paying customer? I know linens are not the major focus of the store, but they sell them as part of their inventory.

One simple sale could have built my customer loyalty. Now take my $$$$ business to Slumberland.

LAME delivery/won't let us pick up furniture

AI Highlights
  • - Oak Express sold 8 chairs with free delivery.
  • - Delivery could not occur until Saturday March 9th.
  • - Pickup offered, but chairs won’t be assembled.

My husband and I shopped around and found dining chairs we loved at Oak Express. The customer service representative sold us 8 chairs and told us we would have free delivery.

We were contacted on Saturday March 2nd to schedule a drop off time. When we called back we were told we could not have them delivered until Saturday March 9th. Moreover, we offered to come pick them up ourselves so we could get them sooner and were told the chairs are not assembled and cannot be until a day before our drop off. Ridiculous!

We are willing to come get the chairs and they won't even assemble them for us. NOT a happy customer for such a LARGE, expensive purchase.

We ordered a dining room set several months ago. One piece was not in.

They would never call us. We had to call them about 8 or 10 times and still have not received it. If you don't have 6 or 8 months to wait for something to come in, I would go elsewhere. Very bad customer service.

We still have not received the item yet and we have everything sitting around the dining room.

They said that they would call back several times but never did. Several times we called on a single day and they said they would call back,

but didn't.

Delivered the wrong table, and that table was badly damaged!!

  • - Delivery was late; the wrong table arrived damaged and our names were crossed off the delivery list.

The day it was delivered it was two hours late, with the wrong table and that table was badly damaged.

We were told that this mistake would be corrected today, but when we called to ask where our stuff was we were told that our names had been crossed off the delivery list!! We will never go back to this store and we will tell everyone we know to avoid it as well!

Big Purchase rip off

AI Highlights
  • - The bed doesn’t fit a king mattress; mattress is 8 inches short.
  • - Denver says the mattress is correct but can’t fit the bed; Denver treated me well.

Bought an expensive King bed from Oak Express and new mattress from Denver Mattress Co. Had them delivered.

Mattress did not fit bed and I mean by 8 inches on the length. When I called, I was told it was suppose to be this way. I verified with Denver that I did not have a california king mattress or something. Mattress was correct.

I could not figure out what was wrong. Tried to use it, ended up cutting up pieces of wood to try to make mattress stay in place. Later had to exchange mattress cuz it was out of shape from sliding around. Denver delivers new mattress and guess what??

They cannot make it fit the bed and tell me that the bed I have is really screwed up. I tell them what has happened, they tell me that I need to push Oak Express to replace the bed. Notified Oak Express, I was told by their manager that they sell this bed to everyone this way as if this should solve my problem of mattress sliding all over. I guess she thought that misery loves company!!

The manager informed me that I should have checked at the store to make sure that the mattress fit the bed. Shame on me to expect a king size mattress to fit a king size bed!!! Couldn't even get any support after going to Better Business Bureau!! Still living with the piece of junk, my niece bought a whole house full of furniture from them and the quality is garbage.

She is pissed off too!!!

Denver mattress however treated me with the utmost respect at all times and stood behind their products!! I would go there again and have!!
