Extra charges without any reason
On September 25th, 2023, I received a letter informing me that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) needed immediate access to my house. The deadline to schedule this access was October 10th, 2023.
On October 5th, 2023, the DEP visited my house as scheduled and replaced the meter, even though I questioned its necessity.
However, upon receiving the bill, I discovered a $250.00 charge, despite being assured that it would be waived if I granted access prior to the deadline of October 10, 2023.
On December 27, 2023, I spoke to customer service, and was informed that the charge was valid and unchangeable. My only recourse was to dispute it, even though it contradicted the assurances provided by both representatives.
I did file the dispute with DEP customer service and received confirmation that it would take 90 days to review the issue. In meantime, I was getting the bill for $250.00. Then I started to receive bills with the interest, so I did call DEP again and was told that my dispute is in progress and I will be getting a refund.
I then receive a bill which included $250.00 plus interest, besides the water charges. When I call the company again, I was told that the dispute was settled in favor of the company, which to me is ludicrous, because the company is the one which made the decision.
I am shocked that I was charged even though I abided by their terms. It means the company can do what they want, it is very interesting.
