2013 Outback Limited - Subaru Service Fail

AI Highlights
  • - Outback head failed at 105k; parts from Ohio, DIY repair.
  • - Dealers were unhelpful; Subaru of America was kind; this will be my last Subaru.

My 2013 Outback blew a cylinder head at 105k miles. Subaru dealers in Western, PA were worse than useless in terms of service and would not even match parts prices with Ohio dealerships, meaning we've had to order parts from Ohio and do the work ourselves as the car is out of warranty.

Our local dealership (Cochran of Butler, PA) wanted $513.00 just to take the valve cover off of the head to tell what we already knew.

However, though the dealerships could care less, Subaru of America Customer Care was polite and kind. After 7 Subaru station wagons, over 30 years, and one life-threatening accident in which I was saved by Subaru, this will be my last one.
