Took my insurance check, cashed it and never came back

I entered into a contract with Novastar on Aug. 1, 2012 to have my roof replaced.

This was for hail damage to the roof. The estimate for this work was $9992.12. I signed by insurance check over to them on Aug. 1 in the amount of $7242.15.

I was called about a week later told they were going to start on my roof within the next week. Well they never showed up. That is when I started calling. I did finally speak with Jason who said he was one of the owners.

Stated they would be here to drop off supplies 11/3. Of course they never showed up. I began to call every office number available with no return call. I contacted the BBB in NY where the mane office was located.

This was now in Feb. 2013. BBB had no luck. I contacted an attorney, the letter was returned to him.

I then had to pull money from my 401k because my insurance was going to be cancelled because the roof was never done. I have never given up my search for these people. I know I will never see my money again. They are terrible people who take advantage of hard working folks that are just trying to get by.

I know this will not solve anything but makes me feel better just letting others know not to trust them.

I do know they no longer go under that name. I just hope one day they get what they deserve for all the hurt and financial struggle they have put people through.

Do you have a picture of him. That name is very familiar

John N Mzy

Not unusual for contractors. You will never see any of your money again and even if you did find them they would turn out to be bums with no assets and would file for bankruptcy if need be.

You might be able to take the money you lost as an itemized deduction on your federal taxes. Check it out.

We need to file a class action suit against NOVASTAR

Seems like NOVASTAR goes to cities hit by storms; advertises to get jobs; hires "SUPER NICE" salesmen who help the consumer get money from their insurance companies and then dissapears. That is exactly what happened to my family and I.

It's been 8 months and they are nowhere to be found. It seems as if they are now in Atlanta now doing the same thing.

There are plenty of people in this situation and what's amazing is that it's the same two names you hear over and over, Jason Chase and Louis Bernarducci. They need to be caught, put in jail and have all their assets taken away and hopefully recuperate at the very least some of the money they've stolen from people like myself.

novastar took $6700.00 dollars from us and did not do any work on our home and would like to be on the lawsuit against them. My e-mail address is omcoylejr@***.com

Is there an official lawsuit? They have formed a couple companies since.

One in Indiana and now one of the members is back working in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is very disheartening. Sounds like they form companies, run them out until consumers catch on and them *** and form another.

We rented our space to them and they broke a two year lease we are filling legal action against them. Jason Chase and Louis Bernarducci are both crooks and we have plenty of information right now to put them away for along time. Karma is on it's way boys.

hi please let me know as soon as u know something I work for them they owed me a lot of money and wanna get it back

Guest

I worked for them for several months and have all the juicy details. They refused to pay me the last $450.00 and return my moisture meter which I know are just pennies related to what they have stolen or ripped off from numerous people and employees.

Believe me Im doing research and I'll bring them to justice. They both think "they are rockstars"!

Super Pissed!

6 months ago I was scheduled for a roof to be replaced as promised that they could get my homeowners insurance to pay for it. That they did.

I was very pleased the salesman was really nice and he came threw on his promise. So when I received the check I eagerly contacted him immediately to schedule my roof. We picked out colors sign contracts and said his production manager would call to let me know when the work will be done. I waited patently for week then I decide to call.

They didnt know who I was and knew nothing of my roof. So I called my salesman he informed me that the paperwork takes a while for the paperwork to be processed give it a few more days. Finally I received a call almost 2 weeks later! The production manager tells me the roof will be done that saturday, No one shows up!

I call with no answer. They finally called and said tuesday no show! This happened 5 times. After a month of no roof Ny gets hit with the biggest storm in 50 years.

Half my roof blew off and my house was severely damged. Garbage cans of water filled my house. Ibegged them to refund my money. They wouldnt.

They wouldnt help with the repairs to the inside. 4 months later I have a roof that leaks and they are not answering their phone. I feel taken advantage of. Do Not Hire Them.

They have bad reviews all the web! My insurance company paid them 12k for a *** leaky roof and im pissed

Novastar took my money and ran.

Over a month and a half ago I paid them over $5K to replace my roof and gutters - have not heard one word back since they cashed my check. Two weeks ago I called to find out what was up.

Local office number no longer working (whoa! big surprise!) - so I called the 800 number on their website. Had to leave a message with a girl who was absolutely clueless and rude. Over an hour later I get a call from some guy that says they will be out within two weeks...

two weeks have past and I call the 800 number back to get same rude girl and leave a message. This is absurd. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as contacting my state attorney's office.

BE WARNED!!! Novastar Construction Group is bush league at best.

Novastar got me with my roof. They took my check and ran.

After 50-100 call I then contacted an attorney. He sent a letter to Novastar which was returned, never opened. My insurance company was then going to cancel me because of my roof so I had to pull money from my 401K since I didn't have that kind of money. They got a check for $7242.

which was partial payment. That I know I will never see again. I just want others to know about them so they don't get taken. It is a horrible feeling thinking you can't trust anyone!

Novastar takes advantage of folks and don't give it a second thought. I just hope one day they will get what they deserve

Do not hesitate or believe it to not be worth the time. The more victims we can identify, the stronger our case becomes showing that these are intentional malicious actions on their part displayed through repetition and not merely unfortunate coincidences.
