Fed up with the constant phone call harassment from this company
THESE IDIOTS NEVER STOP CALLING ME EVEN THOUGH MY NUMBER IS ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST. THE CALLS NEVER EVER STOP!!
I HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED THE TO STOP CALLING ME AND THEY REFUSE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!
THEY ARE SCAMMERS TRYING TO GET ME TO GIVE THEM INFO ABOUT MY PROPERTY WHICH I REFUSE TO DO. I WOULD NEVER DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM EVER!!!
User's recommendation: DON'T EVER USE THEM!!!
Cancelled service over and over again
Called multiple times, got appointment scheduled (>;; 6 weeks ahead), got notified just a few days before the appointment that they couldn't meet that date.
Contacted them again 2-3 months later and same scenario again, except that this time they didn't even bother notifying me in advance other than sending me an email on the day of the appointment ... speaking of CRM (Customer Relationship Management), here is a prime example of how not to do it.
They just lost forever a customer who could have been a long-term one. I won't even feel sory for them.
Preferred solution: Don't bother, I'm looking for a more professional company
Poor installation and unwilling to help
I signed a contract with North American Chimney on February 1st. I was provided an estimate on the spot and was happy to get a project started.
The first appointment was canceled due to a blizzard. On the rescheduled date, I notified the receptionist there was snow and ice on the roof, and was told, “we work in these conditions all the time”. The installer arrived, and said it was too icy. I was fine, and rescheduled.
On the third attempt, I again called and said, it seemed “icy to me”. The receptionist said they would make the decision when they arrived. Upon arrival, the installer said it was dangerous and he would prefer to reschedule. I agreed. He called the owner in front of me, and said, “the owner does not want us on the roof”. This was an outright lie. It was the installer’s decision. When he hung up the phone, I inquired why he did that. “It’s just easier that way to say it was you”.
On the fourth attempt, the chase cover, and two caps were installed. The roof was clear, but it was bitterly cold. I asked if that would prevent any caulk from curing; “we work in all type of weather”. I thought it was finally done. Two days later, the garage was flooded with a white, milky water. I collected nearly four gallons of water in buckets.
When I called, I was told the installer said I had another issue on the roof and that was the problem. I said, it is definitely your issue. After some back and forth, I was able to get an appointment. When the installer arrived, he was rude and accusatory. That was, until he saw the collection of white water, and when I pointed to the two flues in the garage, and sunlight was visibly shining in. The appointment was clearly tense, and I was glad when they were done.
Following the replacement of the roof, there was a downpour with wind, and leak appeared on the ceiling upstairs. At first, the obvious culprit was the roofer. That was, until I got up and inspected the quality of the chase cover/cap installation. (see attached pictures). After several hours, we proved the roof was not the issue, and I called North American Chimney.
The receptionist said she would pull the paperwork and get back to me. I told her, the original installer made me uncomfortable and I wanted someone else from the company to correct the problem. She agreed.
The next day, I was told by the receptionist, the owner said the original installer would have to repair the situation. As was communicated to me “I had no alternative then to give him the option to fix it”. Two days, later, with no further communication, not even to schedule the original installer, I called and indicated I would take care of this myself.
It is very unfortunate that with this company, the word of the customer has no value. I’ve had to defend myself that issues the installer left truly existed, and also, I’m told that I have no alternative but to have an installer come to my house and generate a tense situation. At no time did the owner reach out and try to resolve the situation.
See the pictures. This is what $3000 of materials and installation looks like, and now I’m left to deal with it. And by the way, the website’s primary screen says, “Honesty, integrity, and Reliable Service with a 100% Money Back Guarantee”. I wonder if that will happen.

Unbelievably unprofessional
Have no idea what kind of work they do (not great apparently) but these people were speeding on I-95 near Norwalk Connecticut when a car went in front of them (there was AMPLE room between them when he moved over). So they proceed to whip around them and throw coffee cups out the window at them...
well the super smart men that they were, had no aim whatsoever and hit me with them instead. I’ll be sure to spread the word and not have any of my friends or family use such unprofessionals!
Repeated unwanted calls after asking not to be called again
We are on the do not call list but this company calls consistently. Each time I tell them not to call but they just hang up.
They are in violation but they don't care. They do not remove us from their call list....they just keep calling. We are on the official do not call list, but evidently that means nothing to North American Chimney. And they call all times of the day and evening.

Terrible
3 calls made to inspect chimney for a new cap. Each time they came for something else, and insisted on cleaning my chimney which I did not need or want .
Had to start over with a call to the office again. Wasted 2 months in-between calls and inspection dates, 3 times they insisted on a cleaning which I told them I did not want, when I said your here to measure chimney for a cap they said "we don't have a ladder" PRICELESS !!! so 3 times not prepared to inspect chimney for cap. Best, they wanted to charge 49.95 for the service call.
WHAT SERVICE???!! So, I still have no cap, using someone else, You should too
Violated do-not-call registry - preyed upon my 92-year-old mother
Caller (Donna) kept calling my mother and tried to scare her into thinking she HAD to have her chimney inspected. She gave my mother a special half-price offer with 10% senior discount to inspect and clean chimney, fireplace, and gutters.
I spoke with Donna and even though my number is blocked, she knew my phone number. I asked how she had my phone number and she said it came up on her caller ID. When I said my number is blocked, she said, "Well, this is a business, so we can see all the phone numbers of the calls that come in." HUH???? Against my better judgment, I made an appointment for the special deal.
Donna had convinced my mother she needed her chimney and gutters inspected. My husband then checked out this company online and I saw they aren't even out of Massachusetts. They are out of New York and soliciting business in Massachusetts. A few years ago, this exact same thing happened to my mother.
A chimney company (Diamond Chimney) called her from out of the blue and offered her a really good price to have them come and inspect and clean her chimney. She made the appointment and two men came to her home. They inspected her chimney and scared her to death saying she needed all kinds of work done or she could be in grave danger of a fire or carbon monoxide poisoning. I was unaware of all of this until I happened to stop in to see my mother.
The guys came back to return a few things they had taken from her house (she called to say she wanted these items back). She had a stricken look on her face. I asked what was going on. She said she had to pay them $3,000 to replace her stainless steel chimney liner.
They claimed to have removed the liner and installed a new one. I asked to see the liner that they removed. They showed me a small piece. I asked to see the rest of it and was told, "We already took it to the dump." Red flags went off in my head and I knew this was a total scam.
The guys left and I called the fire department. They came out to check my mother's chimney to see what was done to it. They said her liner was gone, but no new liner was installed. Our worst fear was that they stole her chimney liner!
We contacted another reputable chimney company and they came out and checked the chimney. They said the original liner was still there, but it was hard to see. So, the guys only pretended to remove and replace the liner and collected $3,000 from my mother. The fire department contacted the police.
Over the course of a few days, the police managed to track down the owner of the business (Diamond Chimney) and he was in New York. He claimed these guys were new employees and he had no idea they were doing this to their customers. The police threatened to arrest him if he didn't return my mother's money. He did and when my mother got the charges reversed on her credit card, I called the police and they dropped the threat of arrest.
This ordeal took a huge toll on both me and my mother. She continued to get calls from chimney companies with the same m.o. They all say they will come for a very low price, but that is just to get their foot in her door. I told her to just hang up on them.
Because she has been on the Do Not Call registry for years, she shouldn't be getting these calls The reputable companies send a post card or a flyer in the mail. They also are based out of Massachusetts.
I will never ever use or let my mother use a company that violates the Do Not Call request and cold calls her. BEWARE of these chimney scams - NO FUN!!!
Great Service.....would highly recommend
Found them on ANGIES LIST and once I verified that they are an award winning company, I booked an appointment for the Summer promotion. We had a great experience with them as they showed up on time, and did a great job cleaning my fireplace for a fair price.
I highly recommend this company.
When I received a call from them the person was very pollte and informative, even giving all their credentials including being A rated on Angies list. They explained the whole process of the sweep and inspection which is included.
The technicians were polite, experienced and clean.
The total amount was exactly what I was told on the phone. I very highly recommed this company and will use them again!
SCAM ALART
This company is a total scam and highly suggest not using them unless you want to deal with unprofessional rude people...They came into my home, filthy dirty without using shoe covers or drop cloths, left soot residue all over my entire first floor. The technician decided it was a good idea to turn of his vacuum inside which blew soot all over my house..Spent hours cleaning after they left..When I called to complain, i was immediately hung up on...When I called back again, I was promised to receive a refund in the mail, which i never received. So unless you want to pay $ to have your house ruined with soot...Steer clear of this terrible Company!
North American Chimney Illegal Telemarketing
I'm writing to complain about North American Chimney & Gutter, Corp. 129 5th Ave Bay Shore, New York USA.
i received multiple unwanted auto dialer calls from this company although I am on the do not call list. The caller ID said 203292**** although when i called it back it said the number was not in service. then i received another call with the same caller ID a few hours later and asked where the call was coming from and she said North American chimney and gave a toll free number that was different than the other number. In fact this "sooty' woman had no idea about 203292****.
so i checked the internet and there is a Rip Off report about this company complaining of the same thing.

Looks like they paid off the Corporate Advocacy Program at Rip Off Report, but 3 months after they did it to the Pennsylvania chap in that Rip Off Report they're victimizing others with unwanted calls.

North American Chimney And Gutter - Gutters Cleaning Service Review from Brooklyn, New York
Received a call from North American Chimney & Gutter and after hearing about their special offer and reading the outstanding reviews on Angie's List, we decided to hire them for both a chimney fireplace cleaning and gutter cleaning. My wife and I were not only pleased with the service they provided, we also referred them to two family members.
They did a great job and deserve to be recognized for their effort.
Too many companies cold call and offer shoddy work. This company is definitely legit and should be recognized as such.
