I purchased four cases on Ninkasi 24 Variety pack from a local Costco. The cases all had the same stamped packaging date.

When I opened the case, which contain 6 cans of four different varieties made by Ninkasi, I found that one specific variety in the case was tainted. The specific variety that was was tainted was the Ninkasi Hazy IPA--it was way over carbonated (too fizzy), pale in color and weak flavor which was not typical of that specific variety they make. I contacted Ninkasi through their online website Contact Portal. They even had/have a specific drop down of "Quality Issue" for the one of the reasons you are contacting them about.

I wrote out the issue that I purchased four cases at $29.95 per case and I found the Hazy IPA to be unconsumable because it was too fizzy, pale colored and did not have a beer taste as well as the cans had bulging tops. I opened two cases of the four and found the same tainted cans of Hazy IPA variety to have bulging tops. Since all four cases had the same exact stamped packaging date and effectively from four cases, I had 24 tainted and unconsumable cans of Hazy IPA beer , thoise 24 tainted cans equated to the price of one variety case sold at Costco for $29.95. Costco's general policy is that they do not accept alcohol returns except for some locations on certain states.

I was anticipating not being to return the cases to get a full refund for tainted beer/alcohol and was reaching out to Ninkasi for them to provide a reasonable solution. I had the actual receipt for the purchase of the four cases as well as 1/2 dozen other Costco receipts showing I had previously purchased Ninkasi beer cases (I have previously enjoyed Ninkasi beer and never had a tainted unconsumable issue before this). I waited 4 business days for Ninkasi to send me a reply but got nothing so I sent them another contact email through their website. I waited another 4 days and received zero response from them.

Ninkasi does not even have the care, courage or courtesy to respond to a consumer complaint about the quality of their product. Terrible customer service.

I cannot support a semi-local company that can't even give an acknowledgement of receiving communication from a customer let alone address extremely poor product quality. This tainted beer could make someone sick or cause an injury with exploding cans because of over carbonation in the cans of Ninkasi Hazy IPA.

Loss:
$30
Pros:
  • Usually has had good tasting beer and decent varieties
Cons:
  • Does not respond to customer issue and complaints

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: Choose a different beverage manufacturer to purchase and consume rather their beer products.
