Check your car by a mechanic BEFORE you buy it

I bought a car at Nice Cars. I had great experience buying it.

I brought a mechanic with me. There were no surprises. Its a used car dealership.

You cannot expect them to repair cars once they leave their premises. Dah.

I checked Carfax everything what the owner said checked.

Overall great experience.

Nice Cars great business

When you get a used car your job is to have it checked by a mechanic. All these people here are oblivious to that. You take your chances.

I bought a good used car and not only checked car fax but had a mechanic look it over BEFORE I purchased it.

Its a used car dealership and you buy AS IS.

YOU CANNOT EXPECT THEM TO FIX WHEN IT BREAKS AFTERWARDS. DAH

I was and still am happy with my purchase and would recommend this dealership.

Got wrapped up in Bob's B.S., and didn't want to travel to the east coast.

Chasing down B4 Passats gets a little rough. Bob and his crew of Gas Monkeys promised a rig that had been in storage for the last few years, and had factory original windshield, and stereo.

I took off with a poorly installed Kenwood without the antenna connected. So no radio for the next 4 days up the ALCAN. I latter teased out a TUPAC CD, and judging by the condition of the suspension, this thing had been RALLYED!!! All 4 doors had poorly adjusted and worn handles, windows did not work, or came off the tracks.

For a rig that was supposed to have been rebuilt from the ground up, I am a little upset.

I could go on, but I don't want to be petty. Just buyer be freaking beware!!!

How much did you pay for the car. Bob was trying to get me to spend 18,000 and a extra 1600 for sound proofing.

Thats a lot of $ for a used car.

I hope you didn't buy this car. I am a pissed off customer of Bob at Nice Cars.

He is a complete liar and advertises it inside of his office right on the wall. I purchased a 96 passat wagon TDI with sound proofing, the suspension kit and it was a joke. the car starting leaking fuel and oil within 200 miles, no anti lock brakes, cruise control didn't work. He lied about a 25 gallon tank.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, IN THE NAME OF GOD RUN DON'T WALK. I AM NOT KIDDING.

I WISH I HAD. THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!

Scammed like I've never been scammed before.

Bob promises you the "Nicest Restored TDI on the planet!" from this hokey shop in Bellingham staffed by kids and amateurs. Six months after the initial payment for a 1996 Passat TDI Wagon and many phone calls later, I received anything but a nicely restored TDI.

Broken brake caliper, loose steering column in the assembly; runs, swirling, ghosting, and scratches all over the "new" paint, diesel leaking down the front of the engine, loose door panels, crooked body lines, both door lock cylinders fell out, old worn and cracked leather seats, stereo loose in the dash, rattling sunroof, a duct taped door latch assembly roller, completely loose door trim on driver's door, cracked plastic trim throughout the interior, rear shocks so bad that the vehicle bounces 5 times + down the road after hitting a bump...with oil leaking out of them ...and on and on...

I knew there was a risk, but I could never in a million years fathom that I could pay so much and get such *** in return, the whole time Bob defending the car and the restoration. I can not believe it.

If only I could rewind the clock. Don't get pulled into Bob's web of deceit.

A piece of *** polished up for sale

Bought a used car here. We tried to haggle the price down, but Bob was adamant that the car was worth every penny and he wouldn't negotiate.

After paying the tab and driving off the lot, we stopped to remove the "for sale" sticker from the windshielnd. Underneath was a baseball sized chip. OMG. How *** were we?

A day later the headlights stop working. A week later the radiator springs a leak. Next day, the power steering pump goes out.

*** it, Bob. You got me.

I saved up that money on my own for a whole year. ***.

Never again though. I hope you end up living under a bridge eating canned dog food as karma for your dishonest dealings.

Beware fraud at Nice Cars Tdis, Bellingham, Washington

We paid $14,500 for a "completely restored" 1997 VW Passat Wagon Tdi BV4 (the crown jewel of the tdis) from Nice Cars in Bellingham, (also doing business as Fritz German, Fastlane Fleet, and German Automotive). This car has severe mechanical problems, cannot pass smog inspection and will continue to be a money pit.

The sales pitch is vast and alluring, but the product is a sham.

Do not buy a car from Nice Cars without having it thoroughly inspected by a diesel mechanic, do not give money up front, and do not pay $14,500 for a 1997 VW. Learn from our expensive mistake.

Many other people, including myself, have had similar bad experiences with "Nice Cars". The place is a dump.

The "service" area is a joke. These guys are a scam.

Guest

You have stated no specifics. Did you not have the car inspected prior to buying?

I would be very interested to see pictures of your car or even if you actually own this car.

All talk and no proof makes you a shill/troll. Put up or shut up.

NICE CARS Bellingham WA sells junk

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE SCAMMERS. I made the mistake of spending several thousand dollars there for a used car.

I started having problems within a week of owning it. For example, the check engine light had been disconnected behind the guage cluster. Rather than fix the problems they unplugged it so it would appear okay. There is water leaking in from several spots causing mold and mildew.

The entire electrical system has been cut up and is held together with tape. The brakes started leaking. The engine burns a quart of oil every week. The paint started peeling off, the door locks stopped working, the a/c stopped working.

The power mirrors werent working, there was so much wiring *** shoved inside them they couldn't move. Avoid this place like the plague.

Consumer report on my experience with Nice Cars company in Bellingham

What is bad is that they don't open sometimes until noon which is strange. When they do open they do super good work.

I have a Passat TDI diesel, a 1996 Sedan. WE were traveling through Bellingham coming back from the Olympics when our TDI started losing power. WE went to the Factory Volkswagen Dealer in town in Bellingham. They charged us $210 to tell us we needed a new $1400 Turbo which they had to order and wait 2 days.

A mechanic there quietly recommended we take our car to Nice Cars. So, we did. WE got there at 10AM and waited until noon, they showed up and got our car's turbo running great with no parts, just an intake cleaning and pump timing. By 3PM we were on our way and it cost us $175 thats it, Way cheaper than the VW Dealership.

Its good to find honest people. Floe, Arcata,CA

Nice Cars Company Bellingham WA Beware!

Bought a VW Golf TDi from this company. They claim to have tons of experience with TDi (diesels) and the cars come with a 1 year warranty.

Yeah, right! Car had problems literally from the second I test drove it. I should have walked away but they made promises and I needed a car (yes, I was an ***). 3 weeks after I bought the car, the turbo went bad.

This is when their "warranty" turned out to be as worth about what the piece of paper was it was written on. They claimed that the turbos "never go bad" and that it wasn't a covered part. $900 for a new turbo. At that point I did my research and it turns out this is a common problem and they SHOULD have known if they have any knowledge of TDi's.

Talking to other mechanics in the area turned up plenty of evidence that their mechanics aren't trained on TDi's and one look at their "service area" ought to put you off (most legit shops at least have a LIFT!).

A bit more research turned up a fine from the state for selling rebuilt cars and plenty of other complaints from people online. Yeah, my bad for not doing enough due diligence and being suckered, but hopefully this will help others avoid a mistake.

don't waist your time!!!! Ask around look up BBB of wa better business

Every good review is done by Forrest Fritz, aka Forrest Barlow aka the "new" owner of Nice Cars. Check out TDIClub forums for the amazing story of someone who almost bought a car with swapped vin numbers. These crooks tried to sell him a salvage title car.

Guest

Its sad but true,, I now & have known these guys for years. they are pulling off something that will catch up to them ....

Guest

ya i just bought a car from here too. and its a pos i wish i could have seen this earlier.

i even brought mine to a pre buy inspection but he failed to see the bad wheel bearing the key that was not the real key to the car the seats not folding down......dont ever go to advanced AWD in Ferndale ether. what he did see was a bad flue filter and the plate that covered the the clutch was missing, with out seeing that my clutch would have been toast..

Guest

I wish I would have seen this website prior to buying my car. I believed the hype and the folksy friendliness of Bob.

The car has cost me an additional $3,200 after getting it from Nice Cars to take care of a smoking engine, a leaking clutch, a leaking master cylinder, a broken window motor, a broken hatch lock, an AC unit that wasn't charged, etc.

Now, Bob has disappeared from communication. :( NOT a happy customer.

Guest

Went to test drive a car there and the tranny started failing on the test drive. Pulled over made the sales guy drive it back.

The owner laughed and said no way must be us he just bought this gem from the auction. He pulled out of his lot just to have the car *** out as soon as he got on the road. We just left with him in the middle of the road.

lol what a joke the place is also a junk yard of sorts I think because there is garbage everywhere and half the cars are broken and not for sale. Now that I think about it, this guy totally converted his front yard full of junkers into a car lot!

Guest

I also bought a piece of junk from NICE CARS Bellingham WA too. Mold, water leaks, paint that literally flaked off a month after I bought it, and an engine that burns a quart of oil a week were my pleasant surprises. Screw those ***

Guest

Wow that turbo went fast. I have a turbo without a Blow-off valve and it surges like crazy and it still works after over a year of abuse. But my car is not a VW maybe that is why.

Guest

I also had nothing but trouble with "Nice" Car Company. Unfortunately I believed all Bob's hype about the car - I was a sucker.

I bought the car in May, 2008 and everything that could possibly go wrong with the car went wrong, starting right after I drove it off the lot. They never made good on their "warranty"...nothing but lies. I eventually even had to replace the engine. I've now spent $8,000 above the inflated price I paid for the passat TDI.

Regret and anger...have no idea how they stay in business.

The reputable German Motor mechanics who have been fixing all the messes for the past two years said they've seen other wrecks like mine coming from Nice Car Company. Beware!!!

Guest

Sorry Nick but you sound like a shill. An overwhelmingly large number of people on the forums and local places like Craigslist have have reported bad luck with this place.

One young lady bought a Golf from them and a month later the engine exploded. They refused to do anything for he, leaving her devastated with a $4500 bill.

If you did indeed have a good experience, then you are in the minority. Hopefully you don't have issues.
