No concern for the customer...

I gave them a majority of a house to hang and finish. When it came time to spot mud he (Roy) came back and only did half of what was marked and left what he did do for me to sand and clean up.

I thought I'd be nice and give him another chance on another job (figuring we all have bad days).

What a mistake.

Not only did he not give notice on when he'd be there until last minute, they Never cleaned up after themselves, told me to find a housekeeper, did an awful sanding job (again incomplete), which me and another guy spent two hours cleaning up after, and expected to get paid before he would come back to re spot-mud/skim and sand!

Had absolutely no regard or respect for his customer (me) or my customer (the homeowner) whom with he side-stepped me to do extra work for and then did an awful job for as well. Will NEVER use New Tech Drywall again!!

Chris Swek, Total Home Const, is this you?

Since we’re talking about two different jobs I’ll address the first one mentioned;

The owners wife was very pleased when I left and the owners brother agreed with me that it should have been the painter’s job to scrape the splatters from the ceilings and walls, he was the one that put them there.

I informed you that I had scraped all the walls and all but one half of one ceiling and express to you that it would be fair for the painter to do the light sanding if any was required. When we paint we always sand the entire primed surface before a finish coat is applied. I expressed these feeling to you and you didn’t seem concerned at the time.

Job Two;

May I remind you, because of inspection problems we had to reschedule your drywall to a very busy week.

The hanging crew worked on July 4th to help bring you back on schedule. The hanging crew had to remove demo debris and furniture from the work area The hanging crew spent hours completing the demo process I didn’t incorporate holiday pay nor extra pay for demo work as a part of my bid but we did it without charges or whining.

We didn’t even mention it to you but the owner was aware of these conditions. Perhaps you’ve forgotten your statement to me that the owner, Dave Reynolds, had some additional work to be done and I should speak directly with him. I spoke with Dave Thursday 7/17/14 and he confirmed that to be accurate.

I sincerely hope you feel a retraction of this allegation is in order. Sincerely Roy Privatte New Tech Drywall

False Billing & Poor Workmanship

I requested a quote for drywall repair from Cameron Development. Cameron Construction set up a meeting with New Tech Drywall of Ann Arbor.

I expected to be able to acquire more than one quote prior to making my decision, and was told by Cameron Development that it would likely cost a blanket rate of about $250.00 for the job I needed done. When I arrived at my property on the day the quote was to be provided, the man from New Tech was already busily working away. I did not hire this person and was not given any opportunity to review the quote, which came in at nearly $900.00, rather than the anticipated $250. I tried to reason with the owner of this company, Roy, about this situation.

I also noted that we were charged for supplies which were already paid for thru Cameron, and no credit was provided for this. It was stated that there were 3 men working the job, but there was never more than one person on site.

When I called again about the bill Roy told me he was on vacation and hung up on me. Finally, the job that was done had to be redone by another contractor because the installation was so poor that it prevented the ability to finish the areas involved.

New Tech Drywall Destroyed New House Walls

New Tech Drywall, located 978 Country Road, Ann Arbor, MI walked off the job and left my walls and ceilings in my brand new house with gouges, scratches and cracks. They are now destroyed!

I was promised a beautiful level 5 finish and was left with a mess. No attempts to rectify the situation were made by this company. The owner, Roy Privatte, ignored my request to come back and repair the damage. I am completely dissatisfied (pissed) with the quality of work and the customer satisfaction (none).

My only recourse now is a timely, expensive trip to the judge. Do NOT hire this company.

Steve and Carol;

You and Carol are not relating all of the facts. Let's put the blame where it belongs.

You hung the drywall. (By yourself as I understand)

You used the smaller sheets so that you could manage them causing unnecessary butt joints.

You did not stagger the end joints, (a big no - no) leaving continuous joints on the same truss.

You had problems with the joints cracking prior hiring us.

You did not use the 'Floating Butt Joint' technique that may have made those joints less noticeable.

You pre-filled the seams with joint compound prior to embedding the joint tape.

You added the joint tape to the top of the pre-filled seams and asked us finish coat over it.

I recommended to you and instructed the finishers to apply a level five finish which leaves a film of compound on the walls. You later countered my instructions to the finisher and asked him to leave the heavy coat of compound. Were you thinking more is better?

We've never painted anything for you, your comments are unappreciated.
