Stay far away from nelnet.
Stay far away from nelnet.
Stay away from nel net.
My husband found nelnet and decided to give them a call about lowering his student loan payment. Me being the cautious person that I am, was very skeptical and asked the lady that I talked to several questions to make sure they weren't trying to pull a fast one on us. We finally agreed because they seemed "ok." After several attempts from my husband trying to contact them about an issue they ignored him and theb when we finally did get ahold of... Read more ›
Nelnet lied and jacked me around for nearly a year to steal my money. They got $2000.00 of money they weren't entitled to. How can you tell me I'm not disabled when they're taking money out of my disability check?
Terrible terrible company. I strongly recommend not working with them. Despite me submitting forbearance paperwork every year, they continued to bill me and then say I was delinquent on payments even though I kept forbearing. Terrible customer service as well.
I wanted to payoff all back interest as to move forward. Paid it in full immediately while on the phone with the rep via internet. I called the following week to confirm balance and still owed hundreds in back interest. I use automatic payments which are scheduled for the 15th of each month. This month it didn't process for several days. Why is the US Dept of Ed in bed with corrupt lenders? If mortgage interest rates are driven to low... Read more ›
They have called me 16 times in the last 40 days. I have never had a student loan in my entire life of 68 years. I told them I was on the National and State Do Not Call Lists and to cease calling me and the customer rep hung up on me. Lot of good that did telling them not to call. I think they try to locate a client who owes them money just be using the last name and state they have and start randomly harassing people while looking for that... Read more ›
David agent in Omaha, NE was so combative during the call; I could visually see us two having an unnecessary fist fight.
I have now been trying to submit my income based repayment plan paperwork for 3+months and have filled out a total of 5 forms to try and get this through. I have called and checked in between to make sure my stuff is in and correct to be assured everything was in order only to get an email at the end of the month stating there was an issue in paperwork and that I owed them a payment I cannot afford. It wasn't until I entered full on *** mode... Read more ›
My student loans were previously serviced by the U.S. Department of Education. During this time, I always knew exactly what my monthly payment would be, when it was due, and when it had been successfully made. Against my will and without my consent, my loans were transferred to Nelnet several years ago, where they are now serviced. It has been a staggering display of incompetence. When I check their web page each month, I can see a 'minimum... Read more ›
