I had a yearly contract even though I thought their gutter cleaning service was overpriced. When I called to cancel the automatic yearly renewal, the representative was argumentative and I had to forcefully tell him to cancel the renewal.

I still had one cleaning left on the yearly contract.

The cleaners did not come out as scheduled. When I called to ask when they were coming, I was harassed about renewing my yearly contract. The cleaners arrived shortly thereafter and did the worst job they have ever done. Twigs were left inside the gutters.

The cleaners did not bag the debris or flush the gutters (which is the service I had already paid for in the yearly contract). They also dislodged a spotlight that was attached to my gutter after I specifically asked them not to touch it.

Do not waste your money or peace of mind on this company.

Scheduling System and Auto Pay Process

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was very happy with my initial service from Net Stevens to clean my gutters. I was given advance notice (1-day) on when they were going to be at my home and it gave me the time to be prepared for them.

I then asked for a quote to clean my underground drain. I got a quote and it stated very clearly that they could not guarantee that the service could not be successful and I would be responsible for the full quote no matter success or not. I was OK with that; however I wanted to be at home when they did the service. At the time of accepting the quote they said that it might be 2 weeks or so before they could do the service, again which was OK.

However I got a text, when I was away that there were going to be at my house in 30 minutes. In my opinion not enough time for me to be prepared or to make sure I was at home during the service. I called them right after I got the text and requested that they come back in 2 hours, they said they couldnt do that, so they came when I wasnt at home did whatever and were not successful. I was then posted an Auto-Pay invoice that will pull the unpaid funds in 48 hours.

They did the service on the Friday before Labor Day and I wanted to wait until Tuesday after Labor Day to call them to discuss the situation, I was told that the funds were already pulled and I had no options. At the end of my call on Tuesday I told the agent that they LOSS my business and they better get a scheduling system that treats the customer appropriately.

When you call to complain and choose that option, you are put on perpetual hold. Email for customer service is non working only goes outgoing.

Bad and expensive service

The crew came by unannounced. Luckily, I was home.

Initially, when I started my service, I told them not to come unannounced. They were here for 5 minutes. The gutters had no leaves and charging me 214.00 RIDICULOUS ! I also had gutters installed last year.

What an agonizing time.

Nobody spoke English. They really did a lousy job.

They have a slick business model with well-trained telephone reps who quickly strive to get you into a $750 minimum yearly contract and get your credit card info. When I had second thoughts after being talked into a contract that I didn't need, the agent quickly assured me that their contract was a great deal and convinced me to continue with the contract and I could cancel at any time. They never showed up.

We have a Sport Court that sits on top of concrete. We had Ned Steven power washed it last year.

Took them the better part of a day and it came out great. One can't get the dirt out from underneath completely without removing the top court which was not the job, however you can get about 1/2 the underlying dirt out and make the court look awesome if you pass over it a few times.

This year same price same service except the guys showed up around 8-8:30 Rushed the job and were packing up by 11 O'clock ... My wife and I went outside to inspect, it clearly needed One maybe Three more passes. The Forman on the Job said that's the best we can do and proceeded to leave.

We called the office and spoke with the Supervisor who was deaf to our position and continued with multiple excuses. We simply said that you can't clean that Sport Court properly in 2 1/2 to 3 hours and it clearly was not as good a job as last year which was our benchmark.

During this back and forth with the office and I will admit I cursed and was highly animated prior to hanging up, Ned Stevens went ahead and charged our AMEX card for the balance, which was completely inappropriate and in very bad faith considering we did not sign off on the job and it was not completed to our satisfaction.

What you see in the pictures is that the blue has areas that are dark and dirty like the yellow where its easier to see.

That is surface dirt that can be power washed off . The ends show the dirt where there was little to no effort to clean all the way across or to the end of the court which would move the surface dirt out from under the courts top layer.

On February 25, 2020 Ned Stevens came to clean my gutters and messed up the shutters on the window where they put the ladder. I called the office and reported this and the person that spoke to me told me I was lying, in those exact words!

They refused to acknowledge the situation and did nothing about it.

I am left with an expense bill of replacing and installing the shutters. I do not want this company ever contacting me again.

Poor Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have used your service this makes my 2nd time, which I will not do again. The first time I had gutters replaced on the rear of my house.

The job was not done correctly as I had to call back to get the problem corrected. I decided to give you another try. well I called to make an appointment to have the facial board replaced on the rear where I had the gutter replaced. When I called all I wanted was the facial board replaced, but was told I would have to have the gutters, which are only 2 years old, said that whentaking them down the gutters would be ruined.

Ok I agreed to replace the gutters. I paid my deposit and was told they would get to me as soon as possible. I explained that we were having a lot of rain and by the gutters being pulled away from the facial board water is coming off the roof between the facial and gutter, causing water to come in between the siding. Now I getting water damage in my ceiling.

I would appreciate any help I can get.

My name is Anthony Hinnant, I live 5308 Plata Street, Clinton, Maryland, my email: hinnantant@***.net, phone: 301-351-****. Could I get a response to this email As Soon As Possible

Be very careful about this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They will give you good deal for gutter cleaning. They will even say that you need not be there. Even though one guy is enough, they send three. Know why? They loosen the screws of the gutter. Each carry a professional electric screw driver. I caught one while he was doing it. He acted like he cannot talk. When I confronted him, he said that there were stuck leaves that he had to unscrew to get it out.

Then they give an evaluation of the gutters and recommend replacing them.

If you don't replace, the screws will be loose and eventually your gutters weaken.

I am a reporter for local and ethnic magazines and I played along to find out what they do. I had the gutters inspected before and after.

They also sell their gutters for a hefty price. Their confidence lies in the fact that you trust them and you will not get on the roof.

Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning Service Review from Nesconset, New York

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They were horrible and did not take responsibility for their actions. Made an appointment on a Friday during normal business hours to have gutters cleaned before an expected storm coming the following Monday.

They charged an extra $75 so called emegergency just because a storm was coming even though the work was preformed during normal working hours of 7am-4pm. Nothing like ripping off / taking advantage repeat customers when the community is trying to prepare for a storm. Why do people prepare for storms? We do it as a community to keep insurance claims down which in turns keeps premiums as a whole down, we do it whatever we can to help and protect our homes.Mean While this company charges more and takes advantage of the community and the situation. They are taking advantage of the same people that keep them in business and use their services when life is normal. Shame on this company how do you sleep at night.

Ned Stevens - drive by gutter cleaning

About 3 years ago I contacted the local (Long Island) Ned Stevens franchise to have our gutter's cleaned. The initial deal sounded reasonable and the job was done well. As a result we signed up for regular visits. When enrolling for that program I asked why this service would be necessary in the spring if a proper job was done in the fall and was told that "most of our customers sign up for this service". I bit, and signed the contract. The service is provided is a gutter cleaning and system inspection, with an estimate provided for any recommended repairs.

For our latest "service", my next door neighbor was out working in the yard he noticed that the Ned Stevens truck was parked at our house for minutes and the only things he saw the guy do was put the bill for the service in our mailbox.

In order to get the company's attention I chose to not pay that bill and to wait for them to contact me. When that happened I informed them of the problem. While they denied that it was possible that the "tech" would be there for so short a time, a second crew was dispatched to perform the service that was supposedly already provided. Of course, this time the very same system that was supposedly already inspected required maintenance repairs. Enough from me, the following are the responses from the company to the complaint I filed with the Better Business Bureau. You decide if this is the type of company with which you want to do business.

"I am at a loss to what this customer is complaining about - does he or does he not acknowledge signing the authorization form requesting a June gutter cleaning?!? What his neighbor's "opinion" is of the situation is totally irrelevant. Why in the world would that matter to anyone in a business situation???? Nothing will make this customer happy other than us acquiescing on the invoice. He requested the service. It is evidenced by his signature which we provided a copy of in our original response. He is not debating that he signed for the service. Why would we give in here? The customer requested a service and we performed it. He is not even arguing that point. My offer at this point is to cut the bill in 1/2 and cut ties with this customer. We did work at this home - he wasn't even there to refute that fact."

And....

"The service provided was a simple gutter cleaning. In the course of doing such work, a crew may - OR MAY NOT - find additional work needed that is beyond the scope of gutter cleaning. Sometimes, this work is considered essential by the homeowner and sometimes the homeowner can "live with it" as is. In this case, the foreman did not note anything during the first visit. For the 2nd visit, the 2nd foreman was alerted to the fact that we were returning to the home due to a "callback" for a customer who believed nothing was done at the time of the first visit. As such, a much more thorough analysis of the gutters is performed - again, beyond the scope of a typical gutter cleaning. What was found by the foreman was that one gutter was slightly off pitch and there was standing water in that one gutter. Furthermore, various (5) miter boxes (corners) were leaking. These are not considered significant or crucial repairs but, we like to bring it to the attention of the homeowner and let the homeowner make the decision as to how they would like to proceed. As an added note, just the same as you may find when you go to 2 Dr's or 2 Accountants, you may get 2 differing opinions - one foreman might feel the situation warrants noting, another foreman may feel the issue is insignificant and not note it. That is the explanation as to why no info was left at the first visit and yet some repair info was left at the 2nd visit.

Finally, the answer to the consumers second question with respect to the charges is - Yes, the charge is the same wether we remove one leaf from the gutters or 8 bags full of leaves. We consider the service a s a whole and do not delineate between how much or how little debris was removed during the course of a visit. Does the car wash change its price based on how much or how little debris is on the car? Does Jiffy lube change their price based on how dirty or clean the removed oil is? Do they charge less if you are a quart short? Does your landscaper charge less if the grass only grew 1/2 inch between visits as opposed to the usual 1"? The answer is NO - This is a service - not a consummable item. Our crew runs through the same procedures either way. The gutters are inspected, the spikes are renailed, the system is flushed, any debris removed is raked, bagged and taken away."

What we find most interesting in these cases (be it we don't have many of them!) is the lack of ethics displayed. Again, the consumer does not for 1 second dispute that he signed for the service. He does not for 1 second dispute that we were there on June 1 and that we returned again on July 19. Furthermore, why isn't it mentioned in the consumer's complaint that he never contacted us upon hearing the information from his "police officer neighbor" or when he found the original invoice in the mailbox on June 1. No, instead, the consumer decided to render his complaint only upon receiving a call from our office on 7/11/2011 concerning the delayed payment for the service. We find this to be indicative of a consumer who never intended on paying in the first place.

Ned Stevens=smart *** scam artists. I'm not going to submit my information for a Ned Stevens employee to contradict me or discredit me. You have to wonder what kind of company they are if they are so eager to argue and belittle their customers.

Coming from a contractor.. seeing this makes me miss the days when homeowners had to wait years between a signed contract and a finished job
