Nebraska Book Company/Textbook Underground

AI Highlights
  • - Rented from Textbook Underground; no due notices or return info.
  • - Now charged $150 via collection for a book that costs less.

This company is a complete rip off. I rented a textbook from their subsidiary, Textbook Underground, and never received notice about the book being due or information about printing a return label, etc.

Every other rental company I have worked with sends notices out. Textbook Underground never tried to contact me about the book. Today, I received a notice from a collection agency that they are now charging me $150 for a book that costs half of the amount! When I tried to call and speak to the company they told me it was out of their hands and that I needed to pay the replacement cost of the book.

The book does not even cost $150!!!

Stay away from this company!!!! They prey on college students!

  • - Returned books on time.
  • - A year later, charges for unreturned books from Neebo#V2 appeared; Neebo sold divisions; college and new company have no info.
Updated by user Feb 22, 2016

This company and the college have notified me. Apparently they bought out a company and inherited a few problems. The problem was resolved by them.

Original review Feb 11, 2016

I personally returned books rented at a college. they gave me a receipt that state X amount of books returned on time in good condition.

Since I was not aware that the college contracted out the book rental to Neebo, I thought this receipt was sufficient. Now one year later, I am getting charge on credit card for unreturned books from a company identified as Neebo#V2. Apparently Neebo has sold out multiple divisions to another company. The new company says they have no information, the college says they have no information, Neebo (Nebraska book co) will not return my calls.

I keep leaving my number and messages but they will not call back ....however they are willing and available to bill my credit card. Please think twice before renting books from college bookstores or this company.

Apparently NB bought out another book company. I was given the old book company number apparently (I still am confused) however they have returned my call and this has been resolved.
