Poor service at unreasonable prices. RIP-OFF ALERT

Long story short, today I am left with a $20,000 non-working piece of junk. These guys installed my system and a heat exchanger that never worked, this was going to lower my bills more than my monthly payment on the system. Never happened. They told me they would refund me some money but we could never agree on an amount. They never provided a break down of the work or equipment they used. They stopped answering my messages. I had two other companies and come look at it. They both said it was installed incorrectly and the system was not designed correctly to manage our needs. Some time later I ran into the "plumber" that install my system (no longer works there) and he said I was the first installation he did and had no idea what he was doing. Experienced? Today some years later the system no longer works at all. My pumps have all wore out from improper installation. Many of them upside down. Complete mess! To this day they still have pictures of my house on their website attached to a bogus referral, not written by me.... is this even legal? GO somewhere else.... anywhere! -Chris

Find a good solar contractor who knows what they're doing, and get the thing fixed? Get NC Solar Now to pay for it. Try Atomic Solar in Burnsville

The CEO and owner has since made this right with our family.

Steve is a stand up guy once the red tape and lawyers are out of the picture. Our system is fixed and working properly.

Resolved: NC Solar Now - Estimation Appointment Review from Henderson, North Carolina

I made an appointment several weeks in advance to get an estimate. Less than 24hrs before my appointment time the technician called to reschedule because he claimed their secretary was supposed to get additional information at the time of scheduling. I had a feeling he was lying at the time just to get out of the appointment because the information that he requested was specifically "how am I going to pay for this". I told him that it would depend on the estimate because if the estimate was more than I had that I would need to finance it. In addition, he interrupted me numerous times during our conversation to the point that I had to shout at him to allow me to finish my previous sentence. The only valid thing he requested during this call was a copy of my power bill. However, I had already told him and the secretary that this is a new construction/house without electric currently. We finally arranged another appointment day and he requested that I speak with their banker prior to that appointment and said he would pass my number along. The next day a "banker" called me and upon stating the name of the bank, his name he said "so I hear you need $25,000" and immediatly prompted me for my Social Security Number. Which threw up red flags for me because that's not how bankers handle typically that. I refused and told him that I would like to know more information about his company and what kind of plans/rates are available. He continued to beat around the bush, not giving me any information and avoiding my questions by repeatedly asking for my SSN. Everything about this man seemed like a scam artist. I dont know what kind of business these people are running but it definitely doesn't seem legit to me.

Not dependable - kept cancelling or delaying our appointment.

We became aware of NC Solar at a home show and scheduled an appointment to have them come out and assess our energy usage as well as provide a quote on for solar panel installation. We had to wait 3 or 4 weeks before they could even fit us into their schedule. 30 minutes before they were to arrive the head salesman (I forget his name) called to let me know he had been unaware of the appointment and was half way across the state and wouldn't be able to make. We said "No Problem", things happen and we rescheduled for the following Saturday. This time another salesman was supposed to show up and he called 5 minutes before the scheduled appointment to say that he would be at least 45 minutes late or offered to reschedule for later that afternoon. Unfortunately we already had a prior committment that we couldn't cancel and his (Jamal) attitude was very poor and not at all apologetic for the mixup. We decided that due to their (NC Solar) lack of professionalism that we would do business with one of their competitors. Afterall, if they can't even make a sales appointment, what could we expect in the event we ran into problems. After reading the other negative review on this site, I'm glad they kept cancelling or trying to reschedule. Very unprofessional.

Phyllis is right. After my original posting I got "another" call from Jamal/Jamar stating he was "following up" on his previous visit.

What previous visit? I relayed the series of events to him, asked him if any of it sounded familiar to which he replied yes. I also let him know that his lack of any kind of apology would prevent us from ever doing business with them.

Of course, this prompted his immediate apology - too little too late. He is definately one of the worst salespeople I've ever dealt with and I'm no "spring chicken".

This is not who you want to install Solar at your home. The Salesman was not upfront with the production of the panels.

When I confronted him on his lack of information. He was very aggressive in asking for money evern after I expressed my concerns.

All he wanted was a check from us. If you see then RUN!!!!!!!

NC Solar Now in Raleigh NC screwed me by lying

The salesman lied to me about the production and payback and the CEO lied about the guarantee. I have leaks and the installation was poor and had multiple problems and between the CEO and the salesman, I had a gut feeling I would have problems after I was screwed into a deal with these two clowns. They both lied and are inexperienced. Don't be fooled. There are far better and professional installers in my area, I was unlucky. I should have done better homework but the little salesman was sleazy and wormed his way into a deal he was just guessing on and the *** CEO is insulting and a joke. I want my money back and someone who is certified to have installed my system.

I interned at this company for about 2 months......working hard doing what was aked of me. The owner Steve Hired me only to fire me the same week!!!! Talk about no class. Thngs were good until he had to start paying me.

They like and are all about money. They have no true concern for customer service although they do a good job of pretending. I would not go here if I had to recommend anyone.

The sales guy is a rip off. He ran a shady landscaping business in ohio years ago before they ran him off.

Now hes is recking havoc in N.C.

He went from being called John to Greg. I would do my homework before I gave these bloodsuckers a dime.

This company is a rip off. The do not know what they are doing.

Every credible solar company has a certifications from NABCEP. This certification assures customer that the contractors know how to do the job correctly.

This company is not certified. DO NOT GO THERE

I too have been bait and switched by this company. The company formed as SolarTek of NC and then switched their name to NC Solar Now.

At the time the CEO, Steve Nicolas, promised me personally that he would continue to support my job and I was his customer.

Now that the system does not work and they have tried to fix it for 3 years and cannot, I am suddenly not his customer. I have also been sent numerous threatening letters to take down this post, when I am not the one who posted it.
