Navitus prescriptions are expensive. I have dealt with healthcare prescription insurance most of my life and have never had prescription costs like this.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have Epilepsy and have worked with several different insurance prescription plans. They have all been pretty good.

For the same meds this company considers them "Tier 3". What I was paying 50.00 for went up to 1300.00 for three months worth when I decided to work for the State and get "better benefits." They don't cover a lot of other meds I have looked into since then.

Definitely the worst coverage I have had as an adult. I am 53!

Denies everything

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Horrible, denies everything, multiple appeals, even proof of the things they say to do instead have been tried. Changes tiers on meds *** nilly, and then denies the meds been on for a while. Only good coverage is anti-depressants, and you need them to help with the emotional abuse for all other meds

I have severe reactions to several inhalers. I have specific inhalers I need to treat my asthma.

They recently decided to change which inhalers they cover and have denied covering the inhalers I need.

They also denied the prior authorizations submitted by my doctor and are insisting I use inhalers that cause allergic reactions that cause me to not be able to breath. I am left with no way to treat my asthma.

Inept company

Progressive insurance recently switched to Navitus as their prescription benefit plan. Which is no benefit whatsoever.

You only get 30 days at a time so plan on spending the night at Pharmacy. When things arent covered, you have to wait for a preapproval. On the preapproval is a number you call. You call that number and the customer service representatives dont know anything cant even find the letter that you received.

Dont even know anything.

Im beyond frustrated, angry, and annoyed at how inept this company is at every level. The app sucks too.

Denial of Insulin for pump.

40+ years as a Type 1 using insulin pump. Novolog is my insulin brand and kept me alive and well over the past # of years trying other types of insulin until this one helped regulate my blood sugars, providing my best results ever!

Of course, I get the letter that says no coverage for Novolog and they suggest using pen injections with another type of insulin. Called into talk to a few people and absolutely no regard or level of understanding that insulin is a 24 hour, 7 day a week need. They suggest other types like its aspirin!

Anyway, poor customer service and lack of empathy from this company. Terrible start to this new prescription provider from my company...Beware

Dealing with them is like something from Catch-22. The specialize in denying care.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My wife is a type 2 diabetic, she's been on various inject-able and oral medications for her entire adult life. She takes Ozempic now instead of Insulin.

My insurance company contracted with Navitus health solutions.

The contract is designed to reduce the plan's utilization which is a polite way of saying make getting needed medications more difficult to deter people from purchasing them and save the insurer $$$.

Each year something happens. A computer error, a missing fax, something and Navitus (or the previous company) somehow forgets that my wife is a diabetic. We have to go through a cycle again to reprove her diagnosis. This involves a doctor visit just for that purpose and many hoops takes about 3 months and costs us ~$2000 out of pocket.

Navitus does it's best to make this process difficult.

They refuses to provide a form for the doctor to complete on which she could attest to my wife's condition or to accept faxed copies of her health records. Rather they require the doctor to re-issue prescriptions with a special diagnostic code electronically. This means making an appointment 30-90 days out to see the Dr solely to ask her to resubmit a prescription again.

With the background out now let me get to the problem. We anticipating this again and called in December.

We were told very clearly Don't worry this won't happen again we see the diagnostic code on the prescription and we also see an override code since this happened to you last year. I asked for this in writing and was told they would send a letter, it never arrived.

My wife attempted to fill her prescription on Saturday and we had to pay ~$900 out of pocket. I've been battling the PBM for the last 3 days and was told yesterday in essence yeah we're stuck.

call the Dr, make an appointment and in 60-90 days we'll cover it again. In the meantime don't stop taking the drug you need but also we aren't going to pay for it..

Do they think my wife grew a new pancreas over the new year's holiday?

Pros:
  • Save insurance companies money
Cons:
  • Prevent people from getting the drugs they need

Preferred solution: A paper form that we could take to my wife's doctor to certify her diagnosis of diabetes perhaps annually if needed. Something that could be done via paper, registered mail. A written letter explaining the denial.

User's recommendation: Avoid them, also do as much as possible IN WRITING by paper mail and send it signature required or it will get lost.

Navitus won't approve a medication my wife has used for years.

My wife has received pain injections of euflexxa for years with much success. Since my employer has switched to Navitus, It takes months for the approval process and always ends up denied.

Her doctor has many patients in the the same boat.

All requests for this medication have been denied and only by our insurance (Navitus). We've been dealing with this since October, and still it has gone nowhere.

I take a medication called Linzess & have used it for years; it is effective for me & has few side effects.

Navitus refuses to approve my request for Linzess

Original review Feb 17, 2022
This year, the Univ. of California, my medical care provider, contracted w/Navitus to be my pharmacy provider, w/the insurance carrier, Anthem Blue Cross, who has been my insurance provider for years.

This year, the triumvirate decided that Linzess, which I've had through Anthem for years, is no longer on the formulary & Navitus declined to pay for it, demanding that I use a substitute which has many possible side effects, including rectal bleeding. I decline to be a guinea pig & risk the possible side effects of the new drug.

I am very sensitive to medication & I am extremely upset that I should be forced to try a problematic drug rather than the known quantity, Linzess, that works for me. Obviously the powers that be are concerned about cost; profits are more important than patients!

Also Univ. of California here.

Same problems with diabetic medication.

Also fighting with this company. You aren't alone.

Sheila S Gsf

My doctor has contacted Navitus twice & relayed my concerns to them including my sensitivity to medications & my usage of Linzess without negative side effects. I know that other patients who have used Linzess for years were also refused approval by Navitus.

Their concern is for profits, not patients.

The insurance company, Anthem Blue Cross which apparently pays the cost of the medication is not willing to include this medication in its formulary, although last year, when the pharmacy was Anthem's own, my requests for medication were always honored when pre-authorized. Apparently, Anthem Blue Cross is also concerned more about profits than patients, although I'm not sure if its Navitus or Anthem who is the miser in this case, maybe both.

I was taking a medication for years w/good results. When navitus took over as my pharmacy they denied my requests for the same meds.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Navitus demanded that I try another medication that is on their formulary instead of the one have used that works for me. The other medication has significant side effects.

I explained that I have a very sensitive body that reacts negatively to many meds & that my medication works for me. Nevertheless Navitus insisted that I try their medication regardless of the harm it may cause me. All they care about is cost savings, not the patients' health.

I know there have been others pts. who came up against this miserly thinking by Navitus.

They make it very difficult for anyone on maintenance meds to consistently get their prescriptions filled with consistent pricing.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Beware. Buyer beware.

Navitus will switch your maintenance medication coverages frequently without regard to cost increases. This will lead to frustration and changes you have to coordinate with your doctor and pharmacy. The goal for them is to get you to go away. Yes, you or your employer paid them for your insurance coverage.

But their tactics will drive you away so they don't honor their obligation to you as the insured party.

Beware. Buyer beware.

Devious Company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I imagine this greedy company doesn't have a "discussion page," because too many people are on to their corporate hunger for profit, and the complaints filed against them were probably too much for them to handle - didn't want the public to know. Too bad.

They might get sued! I'm gonna' hit every "social media" venue with MY story, because, simply put, NAVITUS' HEALTH SOLUTIONS is designed merely to PUT MORE MONEY IN "THEIR" POCKETS! My "truth," backed with evidence, & My story: I belong to a UNION and was forced into retirement in 2010, because I've virtually been a TYPE 1 DIABETIC all my life who is now dependent on an Insulin Pump to keep me alive! I am 63 years old and in 2012 I signed up for Medicare.

I also have a supplement policy, for close to $200 per month, through my Union Hall which pays everything Medicare doesn't.....UNTIL NAVITUS HEALTH SOLUTIONS CAME ALONG! Keep in mind, I'm a RETIREE. I do not, and cannot work anymore - no prevailing wage, no overtime and no double time! When I worked, I paid $10 for a month supply of Humalog, (Insulin).

1 vial of Humalog costs more than $400, thanks to Big Pharma, which NAVITUS is tied into.....But Medicare has this thing called DME - Durable Medical Equipment - which allows them to whittle down the price on life-sustaining drugs and equipment which makes it more affordable for dying people. I was told today that NAVITUS doesn't abide by Medicare rules. And now that I'm on Social Security and Medicare, they'd rather charge me between $80 and $100 per month for my life-sustaining Insulin, than abide by Medicare rules! And I'm quarantined to CVS pharmacy, which isn't Medicare friendly, because Medicare discounts life-sustaining drugs which they market to you, the public.

So, I had my doc call my Insulin script to Walgreens, just to see what they would do. I walked into that drug store and picked up 2 vials of Humalog Insulin for my pump, and my copay was -0-! NAVITUS told me, "You're not allowed to go to Walgreens." Are ya' seeing a pattern here? I've been getting my Humalog Insulin at Walgreens ever since......for -0- copay!

So NAVITUS holds to their credo, "You're not allowed to go to Walgreens, because they're not in our network!" In other words, I'm not allowed to go to Walgreens, because then NAVITUS can't screw me out of $1200.00 per year, because NAVITUS doesn’t comply with Medicare rules - same as CVS! My attorney is all over this and her firm is even considering a "Class Action Suit" that may include my Union Hall......I'll keep y'all informed!
