NATSO
NATSO, Alexandria, VA - Questionable management style
On the surface, management appears to be friendly, you'll know more once you walk in the door and work there.
Work here if you just need a job and benefits and can get along with management's personalities and style.
Small staff, no Human Resources Department, average span of the majority of staff is 1-2 years, except for the upper level management.
Fancy titles do not reflect their job description. Almost half of staff has the title of Director since it is a small office.
Unprofessional, secretive and questionable style of management: Tells an employee not to reveal their job description to the rest of the staff while they figure out how to re-organize their team or decide who to eliminate.
Their hiring practices is questionable, very unprofessional and needs process. Incompetent management style which lacks structure and it is a reflection on their lack of knowledge when hiring staff. They do not know what they want or need. Job descriptions are constantly changing. Difficult to get a final answer, not upfront when confronted with questions.
They will terminate an employee without any warning nor even training based on personality, not the skills that the employee was hired to do or what is on the job description. Management needs to know what they want and to clearly communicate what they are looking for before bringing someone onboard and putting the blame on the employee for not meeting their expectations. An employee is not a mind reader and should not be subjected to management's whims or whatever they fancy at the spur of the moment.

I know some people who were hired and let go within days, seems unfair, almost discriminatory, especially when the reasons have nothing to do with the job, but it's good to warn people about it, especially now when jobs are hard to come by as it is.
That's the problem with "at will" employment, if you don't have a good boss and they don't like the way you smile that day, you're out the door. It's hard to find a good boss :(
This is just warning any potential employee to be careful of these kinds of hiring practices so that they are well aware.
Employment in VA is "at will" meaning you and/or your employer can dissolve the employment agreement at anytime, for any reason. Quit your crying and read your contract as well as the employment laws of VA.
