Not given what I booked appointment for
I went to the location at the Marriott hotel in Oakbrook, IL. I felt that the process& instructor were misleading & uninformative.
Overall 2/10 experience. The students were friendly on a personal level but communication was poor. During initial contact from the program it was in regards to strictly receiving Botox. I was asked my areas of concern, which i told them were mainly around my eyes &smile lines.
The service was to be administered by students in training, leading to a rate of $8.95 per unit. This information (price&service) was again confirmed to me during my medical video call. No other products or services were discussed or mentioned to be offered as alternatives. When I arrived to the appointment check in was easy &quick.
After entering the room the students began to inspect my face telling the instructor what they thought i needed. From the beginning they were hesitant to say what i needed because they were all joking that i didn't need anything. Eventually the instructor joined the conversation &agreed that not much really needed to be done. And i was told that I couldn't get Botox.
I asked if she was sure i didn't need it, and she said yes. I was bummed as I had been looking forward to starting it as a preventative measure. She asked how old i was, & after I answered the entire group was saying things like "you're still so young. Wait until you're my age.
Come back in 10 years." The instructor walked back to the counter to begin filling out some other paperwork. Over her shoulder she said they'll do something called restylane in my smiles lines, but not Botox, even thought they were "minimal". I asked what the difference was &the students answered that this would just fill out the muscle instead of freezing it. I said OK ignorant to the fact it was a complete different category of product.
The instructor then said that it would be 449. Just like that. She didn't say dollars, or even four hundred and forty-nine, so I thought it was $4.49 [per unit]. Similar to the pricing structure of the Botox I originally booked the appointment for &again during my video call.
It wasn't until the very end where i was handed a half sheet of paper where i saw the actual price of the product i received. Extremely misleading. I would have rather just been completely turned away and received nothing than to have paid so much for something that i didn't need. As the instructor was supervising the students doing the injecting, she kept repeating, "not too much.
keep it superficial. Her lines are minimal." Even after they were done injecting one of the students asked if they needed to massage the area and the instructor said no because they put so little in there it would mess it up. Poor integrity to refuse me Botox if their reason was my face doesn't need anything, but they were somehow OK with &willing to administer the more expensive filler that they said i also "didn't need". It feels to me like maybe the instructor just wanted to give the students a chance to inject something new.
I will not be recommending these services to anyone under 50 (if at all) in hopes of preventing them from wasting money like I did. I let a week pass as that is how long it took for the swelling &bruise to go away, and now I can see that my smile lines look absolutely no different. They were definitely all about money. Thought I was getting a good deal for being a live model for the students, but ended up spending 4 times more than expected for nothing.
Truly disheartening." Company still sending me offers and "special pricing" services with no regard to my complaints. It is clear to me that your company only cares about money over results, experience, and the well-being and relationships with their clientele.
Preferred solution: Acknowledgement, Apology, Refund
User's recommendation: Don't be fooled. Only let them give you what you asked for initially.
Recent graduate
I was a graduate of 2016, It was a total waste of money and they are not transparent nor do they care about students so 7k later just be told in fact you have to be a registered nurse, not just a esthetican is a lot of money! A complete Scam then to be leaving thinking youre going to be able to find a wonderful career was crushing on the soul.
All for nothing do your research please as Im not the Only person this has Happen too! There are many other people who have been thru this same problem!!! Find the reviews on students that were not being pushed or pressured into the exit interview as we had to finish before we actually completed the course about how wonderful the school was which was very unethical. Oh why cant anyone have the same price quote?
Ive been told by students who actually spent 10k or more on the same course. its been reported to The Better Business Bureau. So the problem is what was told was false and misleading information about your qualifications then several years later the same school tried to collect debt after the statute of limitation and after third-party leaders when the account has been closed That is illegal! I have made claims through the Federal trade Commission.
All I can suggest is please research because when you have to pay for your education and you get scammed on this level especially years later on your credit report. Its not a fun Situation to go through and still have nothing of educational Value to show!
Everything negative you hear about this school is true! Youre just going to waste money your time just to get certificates and a license you wont be able use in the workplace.

Book early to get the treatment you want
I called to book an appt with the Fraxel laser. The girl said they weren't bringing it to Oakbrook.
She recommended I get Ematrix. I went for the Ematrix and a girl sitting next to me said she was getting Fraxel and loved it! I asked are you sure? I was told they weren't bringing it!
I then thought maybe I misunderstood and there were no openings available. After my ematrix treatment I called back to see what else was available and they said they still had openings for two Fraxel treatments! I was so disappointed since the Ematrix has shown no improvement in my fine lines above my lip and brown spots nor has it tightened or improved the scar on my face.
When Amerilaser gave me a fraxel treatment I noticed results after one week!! It was so dramatic I was so happy!
- Girls did a great job
- Did not receive the procedure i requested
Preferred solution: I requested the fraxel treatment which I called, texted and really bothered everyone since March instead of the Ematrix.

Very Unethical Company: Little to No Results, Bait and Switch, False advertisement
As of today, I still have not heard back from National Laser. However, I did dispute the charge with my credit card company, and as of today, National Laser Institute has not responded to my credit card company, so I still have a temporary credit on my charge card.
My first visit was in June, and there was a little improvement in my lip filler (Juvaderm Plus). So, I went ahead and booked an appointment for my laugh lines because I had received and email that the filler was half price 249/per syringe. Both the salesperson Jamie and the dermatologist told me that they could treat my laugh lines, Jaime said that when I booked, and the dermatologist personally came out to the lobby and said she could do it as she numbed my entire laugh lines, but said she wanted to numb my lips too, in the event that I have excess product. Once in her chair, she used the old 'bait and switch' tactics, she said she could only treat the bottom part of my laugh lines because the top was out of the scope of her interns knowledge.
She told me that she had one syringe called Restylane, which this is the first I had heard of the product, which she endorsed as the best product for my laugh lines (bottom) and lips. She told me it was $499.00; however. The entire time she was talking to her students, and she told them, now half way through I'm going to give her a mirror so I can treat the areas of her concern, which she never did. I was wondering why she was solely focusing around my lips, as it hurt like *** and left massive bruising.
She gave me the mirror at the end and asked what I think and I said the bottom of my laugh lines look untouched. She said to her students this never happens. I asked to speak with the office managers who started with a bunch of lies; including your product was already discounted (she charged me 499 for one syringe), all the alleged managers said give me your card, as you authorized the service, so its your fault. A few days later, I checked my email and it specifically said that both Restylane and Juvaderm were supposed to be 249 per syringe, so I did forward that to the spa manager Tracy Stockwell, who would never return my calls, but finally returned my email yesterday that said; there are two types of Restylane and you got the more expensive one, and because you caused such a scene in the lobby in front of other clients on the date of service, we are not willing to refund anything.
She then told her office staff to not take any further calls from me, that she would only answer my emails moving forward. I asked to speak with the owner, and one of the girls said, "really, if you can't speak with the spa manager, what makes you think you can speak to the owner, he is really hard to get a hold of and all we have is his email." Total fraud, either their product doesn't work, or they don't know how to apply it correctly, they use bait and switch tactics, and false advertisement, and their entire office staff is unethical.
To make matters worse they tried to charge me for an additional fee of $50, which they said was demo fee, but they did end up crediting that after a fight. I have reported them to the BBB, and AGs office.

Do NOT attend this school
I went to NLI in July of 2015 with big dreams of finding a new career. I was sold by the flashy show Louis puts on at his Open House.
Two major problems...first the school is NOT a school, I have a Masters degree in education and the curriculum and delivery is lacking. Also there is no pre test or post test to rule out candidates who should not be using a laser. The second problem is that it is completely misleading as to the true job opportunities that are available. The staff member who is assigned to be the job placement coordinator had zero job leads and couldn't even provide me with a list of places to apply to.
The truth of the matter is with little to no regulation in this industry this school will continue to take in money $12K with false promises of employment. I applied to over 40 places and couldn't find a job. I was rejected due to the fact that places wanted not only laser cert but also esthetician and at least 2 years experience. Plus the market is saturated in the Valley as the schools continue to produce "laser techs" without any pre/post exam.
Being a single parent with no employment in this area is devastating, total waste of my money. Wish there was some way to get it back.

Verified ReviewerFinicial advisors charge more money from black ppl
I graduated with almost 40 people. Tuition was about $7,295.
After speaking with almost every student, that we're offered or aware and given the option of a scholarship. Almost everyone in my program receive $1000 off of there tuition cost yet I wasn't even given that option. The reason the financial advisor gave away scholarship was for "hardships" "travel expenses", both of which would make me elidgible. I traveled 6 hours from where I reside to attend the course.
I was the only African American women attending the course with the exception of two others who,(after speaking to) also paid 7,295 instead of $6,295 like everyone else and had no idea that a grant/scholarship even existed.
It's discrimation. All of the students are not treated fairly and the financial advisor Pooja is prejudice, unprofessional, and dishonest.

This institute is straight up a scam
This company offers services that compare with going to the doctors office and come up extremely short. Buy a package with multiple treatments and get those treatments with the lasers set so low that no results are ever achieved.
Don't waste your time and money. I have let them know that the machines are set to low based on past treatments. There response is that they will fix the problem next time but nothing changes. They will just take your time and money leaving you very aggravated in the process.
This is a scam. A very unprofessional environment I choose to never do business with the National Laser Institute and will be very careful when I see the warning signs at any other establishments.
