Safety Suggestion

To all electrical utilities It has been on the news about the prospect of outages being caused by remote controlled drones in the northeast. I would like to offer a safety suggestion.

The use of fiber netting(such as fish nets) can be used above electrical substations to prevent disruptive materials from being used to cause power outages. Suspended above and over the substations would prevent materials from being dropped by drones to cause unplanned outages. The nets will be strong enough to prevent the drones from dropping materials over the substations and can support weight heavier than the drone can lift. Being round in nature they can also provide protection on the sides preventing drones from entering the sides below the main netted area.

Nets suggested do not transmit electricity very well if at all and can carry a great amount of weight.

The cost would be offset by the savings from not having an outage. This is just a suggestion.

Thank you

About paying my bill

I'm not happy right now!!! I went on websit to pay my bill with my BANKING ACCOUNT can't do that anymore. Now I have to pay my bill by speedy pay. So by using this method you are going to get more money out of me. I don't think so. Your company is a rip off. Try to talk to someone but nope can't do that either. You will get your money when I get time to go somewhere I can pay it with my debit card that's not going to charge me an arm and leg to use it. NOT A HAPPY PERSON RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Terrible experience

Original review Sep 11, 2021
Very bad experience my gas meter has been locked by mistake. A tenant in my building was moving away and asked for his gas contract to be closed . A technician from national grid came and locked my gas meter instead the right one. 3 days without gas and so without hot water. I called 6 times for solving the issue . i Had to take one day off from work to be at home waiting for a technician who didnt come. the 3rd day a technician Ian came and reopened the gas meter. He had to access home to check and he soiled the walls with his dirty gloves. I have now to whitewashing the walls. no apologies, nothing..the customer service also ask you about Covid and naturally ask you to wear a mask. The technician arrived without a mask.

Have you ever had a gas bill in your name? I live in a very large city and it is ONE choice only for who you can use for your gas.

This person may well be in the same situation. D@***n but your ignorance is staggering.

No Gas Service for an entire month

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My apartment complex has been undergoing Gas pipes repairs for what is now, an entire month. For 4 consecutive weeks, myself and several other condo owners, have not had the opportunity to use their ovens for the essential need of cooking. We understand that repairs are an essential necessity in order to update and modernized service, especially in buildings that have been around since the 1950's or earlier. We have patience, we have to find the need to perhaps, use alternate methods to cook our meals, but now it has reach the point of ridiculousness. The repairs appeared to have been done, however now The Dept. of Buildings, have halted the continuation of these repairs, until proper inspection has been made to secure, that all repairs have been done efficiently. Your company was to begin inspection of these repairs, with the assumption that service was to be restored by Nov.25th, just in time for the hoilday. That day transpired, with no service again. My gas meters are located at 2215 79th Street, East Elmhurst NY 11370, although i reside at 2218 80th Street. Non service has also affected apartment owners at 2210 80th Street, as well as owners at 2215 79th Street. I now recieve a bill for $22.36, for service that i have not had for weeks. My wife calls your company to express our displeasure for not having service, and after a discussion with your Customer Service Dept., she was dissatisfied with your reply. A supervisor who i failed to get his name, replied to my wife that there was nothing they can do,..that the bill would still had to be paid. The only way that a credit would be applied to the bill, was to have the service disconnected. He made a reference to having a mobile service bill, that although you may not use your cell phone, you still have to pay your bill. Although that is true in essence, if i don't use my phone for making calls, i still would need it to recieve calls and other uses we need when we have the convenience of a cell phone. In reality, I guess he is right to probarly make that comparison , however WHY SHOULD I BE PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT IS NOT BEING PROVIDED ! No gas is being flowed to our pipes, the gas meters at 2215 79th Street are shut down, there is no flutuation in the gas readings, BECAUSE THERE IS NO GAS PERIOD ! However you want me to pay for something I do not have the benefit of using. I have the financial resources to pay the bill, in fact I could pay a substantial amount on the bill, that would provide me with a credit for years to come, if I so wanted to pay in advance. The principle here is that, your company wants me and other apartment owners to pay these bills, regardless of whether we have service or not. We have a terrible situation in the world , now with this horrific pandemic. It has cause so many probelms, so many unnecessary griefs, so many changes both in our public and business lives. Yes in retrospective terms, having no gas service, is such a minor probelm when we look at what is going on worldwide. I feel for those people who have lost their loved ones , i feel for those who struggle on the front lines in order to save more lives, i feel for those who barely have a roof over their heads and enough food to eat. I pray that we can overcome this horrible situation and that we can essentially return to some normalcy in our lives. Shall i pay my bill, sure i again express that i have absolutely no qualms in doing that. However i appeal to your sensible nature in how your company conducts business. Maria Germini is the Managing Director had our condo, the address is located at 22-01 78th street (office is actually located at Ditmars Blvd.away from 78th Street. She can actually give you an idea in regards to what has been going on here since these repairs have been necessary. In essence, we just want to have our service restored as soon as possible. However why are you charging us for essential services that we do not have. Are you going to provide me and others with a credit on our bills or are you going to continue to charge us for something we do not have. I hope to hear from you soon, before i pay my bill before Dec.02 My account number is 06630-1****...my email address is ddgenayla@***.com. i do hope you get in contact with the Bldg.Managing office, and investigate how many Owners with their respective Apt.numbers have been affected with non service from your company. Again no gas service has been flowing through your pipes for well over a month, do we need to actually pay for this service, eventhough we do not have it. Or shall i have the need to report this to other NYC depts., Consumer Affairs, Social Media platforms etc etc. I have enclosed pictures of the notices from the Bldg.Dept halted these repairs, both at the locations of our apartments. 2215 79th Street, 2218 80th Street Apt 1A and 1B, as well as 2210 80th Street. I look forward to your prompt response , and hope you have a wonderful holiday experience with your loved ones. As to mine, I make do with what i have, and i am certainly grateful. I hope you are as gracious as you commit to be as a company. Good day and please be safe. !

Flintstone age billing system

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

20-25 minutes to pay the gas bills on five accounts! Ok, so the on-line billing system always sucked, but with some coaxing and lots of patience, it would be possible to eventually make the monthly payments.

All that ended about five months ago, when their system ceased being compatible with today's most widely used web browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome!) Non-mailed payments are essential with this outfit, since mailed payments do not get processed in a timely manner, so with a non-functioning website, the only alternative is to use their phone system, a tedious, time-consuming affair with a wordy windbag of a computer-generated automated attendant. 22 minutes and 36 seconds today to make payments on five accounts. Thank you, National Grid for forcing this unpleasant ritual on us every four weeks.

Hopefully a future competitor will force you to pull it together, or better yet, provide an alternative choice for consumers.

PS: Here's a utility making it almost impossible for consumers to pay their bills. How counterintuitive is that??

Unfortunately the agents who take your call can't change credit card information as a security measure due to high risk of fraud. The systems themselves have been around for 35+ years and only accept check by phone. Credit card information can only be changed by the consumer online or provided to the automated prompt system

Not happy

I keep getting billed for an inspection, I have no way of letting them in, my landlord is not cooperating. On top of that, they are charging me for a returned check. I don't use a check to pay my bill, I do the automated ATM system, it gets approved right away. Fishy... I can never get a person on the line to assist me.

NG's incompetent website. Screen freeze, slow, often misdirected. My accounts are improperly linked with statements so I often over or underpay, then I'm chase down by their offers to manage my payments. Today, one recorded call was concerned about not getting paid,10 days in advance.

Unable to Pay My Bill

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My bank won't allow me to process payment via their PDF, their website will allow me to log in, but when I choose to make a payment or view my bill, I'm presented with a blank screen. This has been going on for MONTHS now. I've tried to make arrangements to pay via my bank, but National Grid keeps RETURNING my payments even though both THEY *and* my bank agree that the information provided is correct.
