Verified Reviewer |DO NOT SIGN UP!
DON'T SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP! They will never let you out of it.
I started taking my autistic daughter there, because her therapist recommended she spend time in a pool. Right after I signed the contract, I was told the pool heater was broken. It was freezing for 4 months. Now my autistic daughter won't get in it, even though it's a little warmer now.
She's terrified of it. I tried to cancel my membership and was told it was for 3 years. They made false promises and I couldn't read the contract, because I was trying to keep my daughter from hurting herself. That's false inducement of a contract and now I'm getting legal help.
Most people don't hire a lawyer, because it costs more than the membership. My daughter can get a free lawyer. It's being paid for by an autism grant and she can't afford to go somewhere else, where she can do the therapy she needs, because we're stuck in this contract. We've tried everything to get out of it.
These are just bad, two faced people. They're taking advantage of a 6 year old, disabled kid.
User's recommendation: Go anywhere but here.

Verified ReviewerCancelation/payment reimbursement
I was not going to renew my membership for this year, but I had a payment of 189.90 come out of my bank account, and that needs to be reimbursement.

Verified Reviewer |Frustration with Sevierville Location for Multiple Reasons
Signed agreement in 2022.
Signed up for personal training, of which it's been like a revolving door of trainers leaving, so absolutely no consistency in training.
In the meantime, I have wanted to discuss canceling our membership, along with the issue regarding the personal training.
Oddly enough, the ONLY person at the Sevierville location has been out or works extremely odd hours, that are not convenient to most people.
Short of taking an entire day off from work and arriving and sitting at the Sevierville location, this is my only recourse in attempting to get some answers to the many issues that I have regarding all of the FEES that I have paid out, especially for personal training.
Again, some type of communication would be greatly appreciated, otherwise, I will seek others options in order to get this issue resolved.

For the amount our membership is we deserve a clean gym. We deserve couches that are not falling apart.
The stair climber has been broken almost 3 weeks now. The seats on most machines are cracked. While young employees goof off with their friends.
I have been here two year 5 days a week. There has been zero change.

VIP locker rental
I contacted the front desk today about canceling my VIP locker rental. I am planning on being out of town for a number of months.
I recall being told my locker rental was only month to month by Reese when I signed my contract. Two weeks ago, I inquired at the desk and they said cancellation required 30 day notice. I waited until yesterday and attempted to cancel at front desk. They advised no manager was present and one was needed to cancel.
They also advised I would need to sign a form. Today, I inquired with Kelly at the front desk and she stated I could not cancel my VIP locker because it was part of my 3 year contract. When I protested and explained the other three conflicting statements by other employees, she raised her voice and became argumentative. When I advised her I would have to do a negative review and/or contact the corporate office, she told me to do whatever I felt I needed to do in a rude and confrontational tone.
Prior to today, I have always had positive interaction with all NF staff.
I also pay for a membership for my daughter at a Knoxville location. Without a doubt, my review would have been much better if I had not been treated rudely by Kelly today.
User's recommendation: Be polite and not confrontationally dismissive of their concerns until they can explain and fully understand the customers concerns.

Ive been a member for about 5-6 years. Ive rarely used the membership due to having such a busy schedule (no ones fault by mine).
I am now out of the contract and have a month to month basis payment. My card got hacked and I had to cancel and receive another one. The last place I was thinking about when updating my information was National Fitness. I missed June and July payment.
They charged me 3 late fees when I only should have 2. So $105 for late fees. On top of my monthly payments which are roughly about 65-67ish dollars a month. My total balance I owe is now $279.
I understand not updated my account was my error but Ive been a member at this faculty for years and have hardly utilized the gym but yet they cant waive any of this. I advised the lady that called from National Fitness I would just cancel. She told me the contract states I have to give a 30 days notice so I will also be charged the August payment as well.
This is absolutely ridiculous, I see that being a loyal member clearly doesnt matter here. I am going into the gym today to cancel this!!

I am very upset with this company. I was pressured into a Personal Trainer contract when I signed up. I was told by this person (who is no longer there) that they were not out to make me poor, they just wanted me to know that if Then our finances got crazy and we were completely unable to afford it. I called the billing department and they "supposedly" put a freeze on our account. The girl told me I would still be responsible for the back payments but for me to call them when things got better. In the meantime, I could not use the personal training session until the account was brought current.
So today my bank account gets drafted for personal training and pretty much leaves us with nothing until my husband gets paid again (which is 10 days away. I call the company to find out why and she reads me a note that "Christy" wrote saying that I was supposed to call on August 15th to set up a payment arrangement. I did not know this so now I'm charged $140 and leaves us with almost nothing to live on. I ask for someone over her and she tells me she is the manager. I asked her if she had any boss over her and she gives me the President of the company's phone number.
I am near tears and she just kept telling me to call the President of the company. I left a message for him and I doubt I will get a phone call. While I like many of the people there, I'm very disappointed in their lying and deceptive tactics.
I was also told that we had to pay a fee during the month of June so that equipment could stay operational for the most part all of the time. Since I've been there so much has not operated right or been completely out of order.
I've spent the last hour reading complaint after complaint after complaint. You would think with all of these cmplaints, that maybe the President will listen. Unfortuntaely it doesnt look as if that is going to make a difference.

National Fitness Center has always been sketchy and deceitful. Not only do they keep charging members who have tried to cancel, they have a past History of not paying their employees.
When they purchased CourtSouth, they fought to cancel all lifetime memberships. They also took all the current managers, at time of CourtSouth purchase, into a room so they could fire them all, take away all their benefits and then hire them back as if they were brand new employees so they could reduce their salaries.
