For someone who has been working with NAM for years, I couldn’t disagree more. My daughter has been competing for 5 years and while it is pricey, there has never been any fees hidden.

As a matter of fact, they have your account online that shows everything that is mandatory vs optional and what you have paid on one page, and they sends out multiple correspondence with info. I have seen queens win that did not do a bunch of extra competitions and spend extra money at all. My daughter is one. I could see where you might form this belief bc often times queens have competed and won a bunch of other things.

This is because a lot of times the same qualities that won them the queen title (confidence, positive attitude, discipline to practice, and ability to read and follow directions, guidelines, etc) is the same qualities that win them other competitions. Having good supportive parents that are able to do the same also goes a long way! Sorry your perception is this way but quite honestly, I think you have some misunderstandings. If the expenses were a complaint, I’d get it but I won’t complain about that either as I do not know the costs to run their operations but my hopes and beliefs are that the fees are necessary for the cause.

Oh and they have multiple black women on staff, love how diverse and fair this pageant is and how the staff are role modeling for these young ladies.

They are all very honest and kind from my experience for 5 years. This pageant positively changes so many girls’ lives!

National American Miss - Terrible

Granddaughter competed twice. Yes she made top 5 however by second year noticed a pattern. Winner either past winner in lower age group or the winner had an agent. Was already doing print work or commericals. This year it was like agents sent girls to the state pageant and it was like an open cattle call. The average girl as they brag about is out of luck.

As a National American Miss former winner, I disagree, I competed my first time at my state pageant against other former winners and girls with coaches. Usually it is common to see other winners, win. But its not impossible to win.

So this was my daughter's first time trying this and it will be the last! We worked very hard with her to prepare for this, attended every workshop, practiced at home all of it. The only thing we didn't do was participate in optionals because we were made to believe...

My grand daughter is going back for the 3rd time. It is not always about the money or being # 1 in everything.

I understand the practice. In the past 2 times my grand daughter has participated, the second time, the little girl that won queen of the Princess division did not win anything else !!!! My grand daughter won 1st place in Talent, Miss Personality, Outstanding Participation Award, 1st Runner up Miss Spirit Award and placed in top 10 but not the top 5!. She was ok with it, she had fun, met new friends.

Learned more for the next time, which is this week, has built her self confidence, and public speaking skills. Please try to take away the positive parts of being there and leave the negative behind !

My daughter is a finalist for NAM miss Louisiana and we also didn’t have time to enjoy any practicing, raise money, or anything. We also got our magazines a couple weeks prior to this weekends pageant and just received the 4th one last week! It’s very expensive!

I had received the same letter. Any feedback?

My daughter never been in any pageant. She sings, cheer and dances. But no experience at pageants. I would like to know the fees, how that works, how they get the letter.

What are the positive outcome. Also, if someone participated already and let me know how much was the investment and if it was worth it.

Hi! I'm a Breanne Ewing State Queen!

Its not a scam! its extremely fun! When I got my open call letter it was because teachers, peers and others can recommend your child for it.

I was recommended by a highs school student. I totally advise on this platform!

Sounds like the exact same scheme that the so called Model & Talent pulls when the come to Missouri and wherever else. The posted up in a hotel near the airport and sell fake dreams to aspiring and hopeful young girls & guys.

Really they just want the parents money. Once you get into the audition they want money and then when they do call backs they want more money. Scam.

You never hear from them, but are registered on their website to look for auditions, which were never in our area. Never again.

Once you get into the teen divisions, it gets ugly. The girls form groups and will ostracize anyone they view as serious competition. Some of the biggest offenders are the ones whose platform is on anti bullying. They are a treacherous bunch. Seems like the ones who...

I participated in the NAM Iowa teen pageant last year and I thought all of the contestants were very nice. You have to understand that it can be stressful and they might not be reaching out to you because they are thinking about the next competition.

Everyone there is in the same boat as you. I'd like to clarify that I did not win. I do not think its a scam I had a lot of fun, met new people, got to wear a dress and feel good about myself, and I did learn some life skills. It's also a great way to meet good role models and people with similar interests than you.

Also, the girls competing are not a representation of the organization and I have a hard time believing that any of the directors or staff were mean. I can't speak for anyone else experience but when I did the pageant the girls were all very nice and supporting. Before competitions, we would talk about how nervous we were and reassure each other that it would be fine and that everyone was gonna do great. After I finished my personal introduction another contestant who I had known for less than a day gave me a hug and told me how great mine was.

I guess I just want to say that if you enter a pageant don't complain about it because you did not win. ONLY ONE PERSON CAN WIN. When girls win it's not because they spent the most money its because they put the time and effort into themselves and their skills. It's like playing sports or if you're a farm kid who shows animals at the fair...

just because you lose the game are you gonna say it was a waste of time and money?

Hopefully you would say wow that sucks maybe I should practice harder so next time I can win. If you are the person who would blame the refs and say the other team cheated maybe you shouldn't be entering a competition based on personality.

My question is, where did this organization get my daughters address in the first place. I've never solicited this organization nor any other business of this type. This is sensitive information and I'm a little disturbed that this type of info is up for grabs by who knows who.
