Judges were completely off this year. This is supposed to be a pageant based on a girls confidence and public speaking abilities with minimal, age appropriate makeup. Last year the judges truly did pick girls for the top 5 who shone on stage and didn't seem like...

It's all about the money the more you spend the better chance your daughter has of winning. You have to purchase there flowers that you give your daughter when you escort her. All they give you are three rose's. I wanted to get a dozen of my own rose's for my...

You aren't required to buy the flowers sold by NAM. Buying their flowers does not increase your score.

I know for a fact that several winners DIDN'T buy the flowers, because it would just be one more thing to fuss with on stage and not needed.

Yes, if you do want to hand your daughter flowers on stage you must use their flowers. Otherwise, there would be at least one girl walking around with an arrangement bigger than her.

This rule keeps the amount of flowers a girl has to deal with to a minimum and it is OPTIONAL.

With NAM, as many things, what you get out of it is directly related to what you put into it. It's more attitude than $.

I see a lot of people here mad about NAMs stragedies. I have competed for 3 years, this year I placed my. The truth is, you will have to get the right coach (I worked with Pageant Champions) and the right attire to do better4. mY first two years I came in with a suit...

Sorry to report, this is not a real pageant. Spending money on coaching for this pageant is ridiculous, give the money directly to NAM instead and your daughter will win. Enter a reputable pageant if you want real pageant experience with reputable judges.

If you are too tall in the Junior Pre-Teen category, 7-9 (even though she is 10 at the pageant, but still 9 January 1st of that year), because your daughter looks closer to the Pre-teens, she won't place in top 5, she has to look cute and between the Princess

National American Miss Pageant Review from Phoenix, Arizona

My daughter competed this past weekend for NAM. What I found out is a lot of the girls in the top 5 competed the past few years with NAM. So they realty don't give a newbie a chance. Also, found out how much each parent out in for their daughter to gain a spot. You need DEEP pockets for this pageant. Won't do it again!

While I agree that past state Champs have a better chance because of coaching during their year as queen, it is not about money. My daughter has competed twice.

Her first year, she competed in 1 optional contest and was second runner up overall in the state . Her second year she competed in 3 optional and did not place in the top 20. Her second year a past state title holder won again. She won because she was prepared, not because of how much she payed.

The confidence my daughter receives from this organization is invaluable. It also teaches the girls that you have to work for what you want and that there are dissapointments in life. Most of the negative comments I read on here are from parents expecting their child to win because they entered.

By that rationale, they should get every job they interview for as well right? Life lessons people

Yes I'll agree. Very disappointing to learn girls were appointed from last years top 5.

You've gotta be the one who enters your daughter in every category year after year. Very miss leading and too much money dished out.

This is a ripe off pageant. You actually pay for every trophy you win.

If you bring them more business or more money you win in each category. This is suppose to be an Christian organization but, it is a money organization . Not about true talent, photogenic, casual wear or top model.

All kids deserves a fair chance in life not to be ripe of their chances. Pissed to the 3rd degree!

This was my second year with NAM. I did one in 2013 and really wanted to in 2014, but apparently I didn't get the letter that year that I could compete. I thought it was weird, especially since I competed previously, but I decided to go for it again in 2015. Let me...

Positive Experience Review

Had a great experience with National American Miss. Was an amazing experience for my 14 year old daughter....no surprises, no hidden costs, if you read the material they give you it answers nearly everything. If you do have questions, you can call them right up and ask. Very helpful and caring people.

My daughter won most promising model in the princess category at the 2014 washington pageant, but still has not received her prize. Only one time over the last year has the director of the pageant returned any of my emails or phone calls. My daughter worked very hard...

My daughter received the same and she did receive the prize...a $500 "scholarship" to a modeling school that would have cost us $1200 to use...yeah, some prize.

National American Miss in Rochester, Michigan - Stop Crowning Past Queens!!!

We have always been a supporter of NAM, but now we are beginning to feel like they are more about the money then about the qualities they want a NAM winner to possess. With dwindling numbers at the Michigan Pageant this past weekend from controversy surrounding last years judging, it was apparent they needed to do some damage control. We truly believed they would take the opportunity to fix what had happened last year, and for the most part, they did - with one exception - they continued to crown past winners or contestants that had some affiliation with the judges...wouldn't it make sense to see the beauty, confidence, and poise in a new, fresh face at the pageant and give them a chance to represent NAM? Until that happens, there will always be doubt in future contestant/families minds which is a shame because NAM does have the right branding for young girls today. Stop using past queens as judging and start believing that someone new may be just a good, if not better, than what is tried and true.

In 2015, all NAM cares about is money and suckering the same girls into repeatedly giving money year after year. Take her to Disney instead where they will really treat your daughter like a princess.
