Main St. Computer Repair or its Alias My Computer Works.com advertised in my local phone book that they have same day repair, any day service, with no travel charges, except the company is located in Arizona when I am in Florida.
They told me they could have a tech out the next day but not until 12 Noon. I told them I had no Internet connection, so they told me to get a flat rate from them as the repair would probably take several hours due to a virus, so I agreed to the $247 rate, but was also told they would pro-rate the charges if the repair took less than 1 hour. The tech was on time and it took him 15 min. to fix my computer, plus he took a photo of the time on my computer when he started, and another photo of the time when he finished, so he was ethical.
He did not handle billing so I had to call the company for that. I was then told they do not pro-rate and the rate quoted was the rate my credit card would be charged, so I complained. Whomever I spoke to told me that he is only going on my word, so I told him that his tech took photos on his phone to prove he was only here about 15 min., so he agreed to charge me for 1 full hour instead of the flat rate, which was still over $100. I was promised a receipt, which I never received either, so called the company, was switched around playing phone tag until I finally got voice mail and left a message, but still did not get a receipt.
I did however get an email from this company asking me to give them a good rating, which of course I refuse to do. This company lied to me from the very beginning to the very end, and asking for a good rating just proves their lack of ethics.
