This is the 2nd project we had done by Mountain area. We are well pleased with all of the work.

Great job by Mountain area. We had a large deck added and concrete floor poured.

Both projects turned out great.

Photos attached to their website of the work.

This man is a crook, a liar and does not deserve to be in business.

Hired him to grade driveway, put in drainage and bring in rock. Put drain in wrong place.

Dug up neighbors yard and left with a huge hole in our access road which the neighbors are blaming me. Greg refused to fix the problem unless I gave him a roofing job.

Please do not fall for his rhetoric. He is a liar.

Horrible Quality of Work

Greg Staffins is all talk and a manipulator. He did a horrendous job for us, and his reputation among actual clients is terrible.

He flat out lied to our faces on many occasions. Run away from Greg Staffins and Mountain Area Recommended Contractors!

They Do Not Know How To Spell Building Code

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Let alone follow building codes.

They did not even install footers correctly for a deck. Did not use appropriate header for a roof. Roof is sagging due to lack of proper beam and vertical posts.

He claims to use licensed subcontractors, but that was not the case and we have had to hire plumbers to redo the amateurish work.

His license number comes up invalid with State Of Georgia, as does any searches for his name and being licensed by the Georgia Professional License Bureau.

Stay Away from this company and Mr Greg J Staffins as he is a con artist, salesman who does not know how to deliver properly and within safety and building codes.

He does appear to be a con man. Very smooth talker. We certainly bought his lies.

Stay Away

Greg talks a big game, but continual scope changes, need more money. And oh by the way, when after 7 weeks he declares his insurance coverage does not cover moving load bearing wall, its trouble..State of GA does not show any record for his professional license # 1-15-**** which is on his contract.

Our front door project was deemed completed by Greg but there is no front door installed just a wall.

Yep, you read that right.

Scope changes and need more money were a routine dialog. Dont bother sending details in emails as they dont get read.

Big quote is "been in business for 40+ years" yet insurance does not cover load bearing wall, wow..oh my..stay away

I agree with you. All talk no work.

Ask for a contractors license and you get a picture of his business license for his bar-b-que business. NOT a general contractor. Beware.

Beware. Beware!

He doesn't have a general contractor license. I reported him to the state and they confirmed he doesn't have a license.

He did terrible work for us.

Had to tear out the retaining wall his crew installed. Greg has such a terrible reputation he has resorted to illegally posting his advertisement signs all over Fannin County.

Mountain Area Recommended Contractors, LLC

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Mountain Area Recommended Contractors presented as a Licensed General Contractor. They do not appear to be licensed as a General Contractor.

The concrete job was to be 30 feet X 30 feet. They only poured 29 feet by 23 feet. The concrete was poured on newly excavated red clay; no gravel base was poured. Greg Staffins, owner, said this is because gravel is in the concrete mix, so no need to put gravel base.

The finish was very rough and uneven, with gravel sticking out the top of the finished pad more than 1". Worker bootprints were in the concrete. Their solution was to grind down the uneven areas and pour a thin surface coat of concrete over the concrete. When we addressed the unsatisfactory nature of this job, Greg told his crew to pack up and leave and not finish the job.

We had to sweet talk them to stay and finish up the other projects they were working on. The drainage was also messed up so badly that the first rainstorm that happened after they excavated and poured the pad our house flooded. I had to dig trenches to get the water to drain away from the house. We are having to hire another contractor to deal with this problem.

We have had several concrete experts look at the finished pad and they all agree it is one of the worst jobs they have ever seen. They do not anticipate the concrete repair (surface coat of concrete) will last. Mountain Area Recommended Contractors, LLC also installed a retaining wall. After one month, the retaining wall is already shifting/leaning and two inspectors have confirmed that the retaining wall needs replaced or it could be a danger when it fails completely.

The retaining wall was built without any draining system, so water is already causing the wall to shift and bulge. I will never use Mountain Area Recommended Contractors, LLC, or Greg Staffins, again. It has been the worst experience we have ever had with any contractor or worker. They present as professional with business brochures, nice shiny trucks with their logo, and talk about how excellent they are.

Our experience has been horrible and we are having to pay to have most of the work redone, as well as fix additional problems that they caused.

I have addressed these (and more) concerns with the owner of Mountain Area Recommended Contractors, LLC and he has no solution, other than to lie to our face and state these problems do not exist. We spent $14,000 on this project, paid to Mountain Area Recommended Contractors, LLC and now have to spend many thousands more to tear out much of the work and redo it properly.

Greg Staffins is running for Fannin County School Board now! He is probably just trying to get some business referrals from name recognition as his business is hurting badly.
