Resolved: No 2nd key/FOB

Updated by user Dec 12, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Received my 2nd key/FOB after 6 weeks of begging.

No second key/FOB sure you always receive a 2nd key/FOB
on Friday August 9.2024 I contacted your Mossy Toyota dealership on Mission Blvd. To buy a used BMW X2 which was available for sale.
I was able to take the X2 for a test drive and liked the car.

Joe Mastropieri was My contact person.
We reached an agreement to use my 2015 BMW 528i as a trade-in. I was offered $4 000.00 for my car and I would pay the difference in cash or a business check in the amount of about $16 700.00. I had my 528i towed to your place as my mechanic found something wrong with the battery.
One of your sales people drove me home.
I talked to Joe Mastropieri to hold the X2 until Monday so I could arrange to have enough money in my account to which he agreed. I could not make a down payment to secure the hold on the X2 as I had no transportation.
Monday August 19 I came to your dealership to pay for the X2 and to finalize the paperwork.
I was in the office with your finance manager and was about to sign the check.
Suddenly the General Manager Danny, I never was given his last name came into the office and said I have some bad news.
We sold the X2 you had reserved.
I was totally besides myself.

I asked how could you do this ?
I was told there was a miss communication from another Mossy dealership and somebody had sold the X2 the car I had reserved and I had just signed all othe paperwork.
I walked out of the Finance Managers office with Danny behind me and trying to explain to me what had happened.
We talked and he was nice to me and full of apologies and offered me a variety of different cars in my price range.
We finally settled on a 2020 (I believe) Subaru Crosstrek that had just come in to the dealership.
I was able to sit in it and get a feeling of the car.
Danny explained that he had taken $2000.00 of the price for me. I agreed to buy the car at that price and my BMW 528i as a trade-in.
I was to write a check for $18000.00.
I was somewhat happy.
I was told the Crosstrek had to be serviced and prepared for the sale to me, but I could pick it up Monday or Tuesday. I agree.
Later that day Danny called me and stated that the Crosstrek would not be ready at the earliest by next Wednesday August 28.
I was furious. Being without transportation at my age was not acceptable.
His answer was Why dont you buy another car.
That as a bad answer and an affront to me.
I strongly believe your inter dealership communication is deplorable that the car I had reserved was sold to somebody else, to say under my nose.
Your managers Danny answer to me to just buy another car does not speak well for him or your companies customer service training.

Call from Danny.

Car not ready but hopefully Thursday. He will call me. This is going from bad to worse. But according to Mossy Toyota its nobodies fault.
Its Friday and I have to be in Court Saturday at 08:00 but no car.

I ws offered and given a loaner until Saturday afternoon. Came back and car still not ready.
Finally was able to talk to the General manager, Val Andrada. She offered me several other cars for sale. We finally settled on a 2021 BMW X2 with $2000 more as the final price.

I agreed. Had a test drive and liked the car and bought it.
Val was the only sunshine in this dreadful episode at Mossy Toyota Pacific Beach.
My 528i had no battery power to open the trunk so I could remove my stuff so I need to come back next week. I received only one Key FOB for the X2. Val did promise to ask BMW for a second Key FOB.
Today is the 12th of November.

No key/FOB or any news from Val ANDRADA the GENERAL SALES MANAGER at MOSSY TOYOTA in aboutt3 to 4 weeks. Well it is SIX weeks now..

I Couldn’t get a straight answer about service.

I bought a new $68K Toyota Supra A91 and nobody knew anything about it.

Its a new model now built by BMW. Very high tech and frustrating to operate.

Dealer was very little/no help for the first 6 months and I was misinformed on several issues. Didnt even know the service intervals! I called everyone, looked online and personally went to the dealer several times... NO success.

I stumbled over Pissedconsumer.com and they gave me a number to Toyota Corporate Customer Service.

I told them I got their number from P.O.C. and within 20 minutes I had a great response, apologies and all the info I needed. For now, Im a happy camper. I also know where to go if I have future issues.

Thanks Pissedconsumer.com

Oh, this new car is also using oil! Watch for that story in the future.
