Montlack deserves a -5 or Z-.

No security of the building or car parked in garage. Not healthy place to live.

Old dilapidated building, appliances and facilities. Frequent pest infestation.

Virtually no maintenance. Hidden fees.

Unhelpful, rude, condescending Montlack-Butch-Dawn-NobodyElse management team.

An attitude and business designed to fall.

Lease Agreement fees

Look over your lease agreement!!!. The contract has hidden figures and can be easily overlooked and the person giving you the lease are not telling you about the fee up front.

I discovered the issue by logging into their new system after being here close to a year. I found out amount water and sewer fee $35 bucks that collected. Furthermore, I did not get anywhere addressing the issue. What I got from them was defensive and sarcastic comments.

Very Sad! There was no accountability for error I identified only their stated facts and no apology. Just plan Nasty.

Dawn made a threat about me not wanting to mess with her ! Wow!

Property Stolen

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Montlack Realty provides no security for their property would not recommend them to anyone did not disclose there was a leaking problem in my apartment I constantly complained I had a leak in my bedroom from the tenants apartment above mine the leaks didn't stop until that tenant moved out. so the leak is not fixed.

Constant sound of running water dripping behind the walls. Because they provide no security cameras for their property Any one with a key to the building can walk in and steal whatever they want. Montlack Realty feels no responsibilty.

Rent from them at your own risks Their rental agents Sucks and are lazy and don't want to show you any apartments they tell you to go look at them yourself I was stuck in a 1 year lease and they did not want to let me out of my lease even though they did not disclose they leaking apartment Although my storage unit was broken into they still would not release me out of my lease. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM they are greedy for money and it's not worth your personal safty

DONT DO IT!!! FIND A BETTER PLACE!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The best day of my life was when I moved out of Shaker Park Manor!!!

This place was becoming a ghetto slum. You can hear neighbors fighting at late hours of the night!

The maintenance staff sucks! Bob almost got us blow up because he did not fix the heating system correctly and the gas company had to come out and shut it down. Montlack Reality has violations 4 pages long and Shaker heights inspectors have to come in every year to see how no one has done a *** thing! The office staff is rude and has a major attitude when you call them!

You will get ripped off of your security deposit no matter how correctly you leave.

They will think of something to keep your money. They are the Biggest crooks in town!

Run away...fast

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I rented an apartment from Montlack at North Moreland courts. The first year I had heating issues.

Heat was supposed to be included in the rent. The landlord made some attempts to fix the heating problems. In fairness, these have helped a little but have not solved the problem. Stupidly I stayed.

The second year I was calling about ever 2 weeks about my apartment being cold. Yesterday, January 4 it was 59 degrees in my apartment when I went home. As with the other renter, I was given a space heater to solve the problem. It has cost me as much as $30 to keep my apartment at a cool 68.

My calls are now simply ignored. Shaker Heights has an ordinance that says all apartments must be heated to at least 70 degrees.

Today I finally called Shaker Heights to get the ordinance enforced.

Montlack Realty - Rental Appartment Review from Lombard, Illinois

DO NOT rent from this company. They strictly go by Ohios tenant laws in regards to the heat. Heat is supposed to be included in your rent but they make sure it's never over 68 degrees in your suite, if you complain, they tell you to go buy your own space heater which you have to pay to run. When you try to call in a work order the office staff is rude and rushes you off the phone. A dryer in my building has been out of service for over a month now and they haven't even looked at it despite myself and at least 3 other tenants I know who've called to complain. They charge for outside parking but do nothing to monitor the lot so half the neighborhood will park in your space. When I tried to resolve this, since I am PAYING extra for a space, I was again treated rudely and the person on the phone actually said,

"What, do you expect us to manage the lot too"

Yes, yes I do expect you to monitor the lot if you expect me to pay for a space.

Snow is not properly cleared in the winter, if anyone shows up to clear it at all and when I called about this I was told how they don't control the weather. No, but you do control whether or not you clear snow and your lame excuses are pretty lousy when all the properties around Montlacks, that are operated by someone else, can all manage to properly clear their walks and drives. When I moved in my suite had 2 locks on the door but I was only given 1 key, when I asked for the second key they told me just to not use that lock because they didn't have a key for it. When I asked them to change the lock, since I see it as a security issue if the management company doesn't even know where their keys are, I was told that it was too much of an inconvenience for them to change a lock every time they misplaced keys and that I'd have to pay $35 if I wanted it replaced... So the security of your property is too much of an inconvenience? Are you Fn kidding me? I eventually had the lock replaced myself.

Zip ties and duct tape are considered professional repairs and that's if you can even get anyone to show up.

This has been the WORST rental experience I have had in my life and I've always lived in apartments.

The only way to stop slumlords like this is to stop renting from them so please take this seriously and rent elsewhere. Only when their buildings are empty will they MAYBE learn. Even then, im not so sure, they seem to operate on the delusional that they are an excellent management company.

STAY AWAY FROM MONTLACK

Unhappy ex-tenant

I am renting an apartment from this company. I have been a model tenant. I have paid my rents accordingly. It has been disappointing and frustrating since day 1. The management is EXTREMELY rude and not willing to work with their residents. I had to complain ALL THE TIME because they would not turn on the heat and would not fix it promptly when broke.

My lease was set to expire on 6/30/2011, which you have to give 45 days prior notice of move-out. I gave 40 day notice and now they would like for me to rent an additional year or they will sue me and keep my deposit. As I have had several strokes within the last month and was just released from the hospital, I can no longer live on my own, even if I wanted to rent another year. My daughter wrote them and called them explaining the situation and they will not accommodate us or work with us AT ALL. We now have to get an attorney to help us.

I have moved out of the apartment. Today, my daughter (since I can not go) called to schedule the move out inspection. They are only open until 5 and she does not leave work 5. As this is not her apartment and she is trying to help me as well as be compliant, she asked for someone to meet her at 5:30 - they will not accommodate and want to charge us for more days if she can't do the inspection until Saturday.

I do realize that there is a lease agreement in place, but extenuating circumstances (such as a 40 day notice and my recent illness) should be taken in to consideration for a model tenant. As I am already ill, this issue is causing me additional stress which I do not need as well as loss of my $1500.00 deposit. I need that money to pay for my medical expenses and care.

Someone please note this against this firm. This is no way to treat people.

Montlack's office staff are rude and unwilling to assist tenants. I think the company should invest in some sort of training regarding SERVICE for these people.

It is a sad reality that the tenants (w/c are mostly from UH and CCF) go to them because of mere convenience d/t close proximity from work. Several issues being raised which has been going on for years to name a few: molds, no heat, delay on work orders, rodents, parking space, elevators not working almost every month, garage doors not working almost every month, no upgrades but with annual increase on rent, and so on and so forth....

Before signing the lease, I was promised a parking spot by the property manager John. John said that the temporary parking spot that he was going to assign to me was currently being used unauthorized by another tenant. John put a sticker on their car telling them to move (and they did). I then get a call about 5 days after I move in from the Abby in the office telling me that I was parking in somebody else's spot and needed to move or I'd get towed. Talk about a total bait and switch. Unfortunately, the lease specifically says that I can't break it if they don't give me a spot. Looks like the crooks were planning this all along.

In addition, the apartment was filthy and it took quite a bit of effort to scrub all the stickiness out of the kitchen.

I didn't want to believe all the negative reviews, but it turns out they're true!! Looks like I'll be stuck in *** for the next year..

Moved to Cleveland through a promotion at work from out of state. Sort of rushed to find a place and made the wrong choice. Moving out after just one year to a different place.

The main issue at Montlack is the office staff. They are grumpy and rude. Honestly some of the rudest people I have ever met. John the salesman is the only nice person I dealt with. I highly recommend going to the office and talking to them there before deciding on where to move. That would have changed my decision.

This is the worst property management ever! Their buildings are old are falling apart yet they charge whatever they want.

The trash gets never picked. You request a maintenance and it never happens! And they say heat is included but yet provide no heat at all. You will be literarily freezing whole winter.

It is mid winter and yet they haven't turned on. They turn the heat maybe two hours in a 24 hour time point. My friends warn me and I hoping some dissatisfaction but definitely not this much. I am go glad that I am moving out.

These people are nothing but a blood sucker!

I also rented from this company. I just moved out last month.

I always paid my rent on time. The heat is turn off during the day, they think every body work between 9-5. You have to call so many times to get anything fixed. I had mole in both of my bedroom.

Had to sleep in the living room during the winter, because the bedrooms was cold,(heat is off at night)and if you used a space heater in the bedrooms you would blow out a fuse. Did not think you had slum lords in Shaker.
