They have teachers that yell at the kids and call the kids names, but they don't get rid of the teachers. The principals fail to report concerns to the police.
They say they do but then can't provide a police report. Complaints to the Superintendent regarding a plethora of concerns does not provide any relief. This school system does not have effective summer reading programs and does not track the participation. The county library only has .8% participation in their summer reading program.
If you have a complaint, you should take it directly to the police. Don't expect the school system to self-govern.
- School retaliating so that an entire community suffered
- School retaliating
Preferred solution: Treat kids with respect. When a complaint is filed, follow up and don't simply say, "Your concerns are being addressed" without even restating the issues that they are responding to. It would be helpful if you had transparency and not retailiation.
The Worst
My Mom is a senior citizen and her car was parked in front of the house when a Montgomery County bus driver hit her car while kids where inside the bus. That happened in September and until now they won't pay for the damages.
They didn't show up in court and they won't return any phone calls. This is ridiculous and this county is suppose to be a rich county. They are the worst county and I feel bad for my Mom who doesn't work and they do this to her.
I wish that I have money to pay for a lawyer and help my mom. Anyone can help to expedite this please let me know.
Preferred solution: Full refund
My daughter didnt get to do her jazz dance in the international day.
My daughter practice so hard on her dance, she created her own dance to a song from Mercy by duffy. If you go to any dance school that's a very popular song.
They allowed a rap song but didn't let my daughter dance who is 7 years old in front of everybody, refuse to let her do her dance. I thought that was a form of racism toward our culture. and being that it was supposed to be international day well what a horrible international Ms Washington created the problem by stating that the lirics of the song where not appropriate well first of all I would never let my do a song that not appropriate . She was going to transmite a beautiful jazz dance with her art.
She have the gift of dance and it was going to beautiful they broke my daughters heart she cried all night. who does that what kind of principal or vice principal would do such thing to a child. The worst school is Harmony Hills Elementary school and the worst administrative officers Dr. Rawlison and Mr.
Galarie. I am going to do a formal report to the department of education they cause my daughter great emotional distress you just don't do that to a child how horrible are this people and they call themselves teachers.
- Way they treated my daughter

Curriculum 2.0 - What a joke.
I'm sorry, your son will not be writing much this year as it is not in the curriculum. - stated by a principal when discussing a first grade child who reads on a fourth grade level and given word wall words such as 'of'.
We are working with the new curriculum and will see what we can do to challenge your son - 3rd grade, who was doing 5/6th grade work in second and is back to doing 3rd grade level work in third.
It is going to be a long year.
Many school principals will tell you that they will challenge your children on their level of ability, now that I've called them on it for years, they are telling me the truth. The truth hurts.
Some administrators have suggested that the child be given more challenging work at home. I'm sorry, but I don't think it is kind to a child who has worked to apply themselves and achieve a higher level to have to do more work. In fact, I believe that this punishes those who have achieved.
Joshuar Starr, we are waiting for the big improvements and are not looking to go backwards.
Thus far, you've been unresponsive to concerns.
Board of Ed has been unresponsive and I'm told that I need to go to a public forum to voice my concerns.

I absolutely agree. I feel that this curriculum may have bridged the gap at my childrens' expense!
They are above grade readers and were above grade in math only to be brought down and unchallenged! Hate the new system.
It hasn't helped my children progress. Let's face the facts here, some kids will not be reading at grade level unless they are tutored, either because of a language barrier or because they lack the desire to learn!
I don't know many people who can afford to quit their jobs so that they can home school their children. I did it for my older child and loved it, but the loss of income is significant.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
Curriculum 2.0 is no joke for Pearson stockholders and CEOs. They are lovin' it.
If your children are smarter than the grade level MCPS curriculum (and you know this how?), send them to a private. Can't afford it?
Home school them, even better. I am sure you can do a better job than MPCS and its curricula and teachers.

We def will! But the point is the school needs to keep up with our kids! Just as they are trying to accommodate those having difficulties by "bridging the gap"
