Impatient staffspersons harassing at Silver Spring

AI Highlights
  • Study room closes 4:30 pm Sundays; patrons must leave.
  • Staff stared and threatened to call police.
  • Supervisor glared; others used cellphones.

They have a study room which closes at 4:30pm Sundays. Patrons are notified to leave so library closes at 5pm.

At 4:30 patron packs to leave. White guy with glasses is supposed to make sure room and tables are clean for locking room down. Instead he is totally staring at patron. "Pack faster.

Please leave." His boss same thing. They dont clean the tables or anything. White guy starts to call police. It is not even 4:40pm but he wants to call the police anyway.

The supervisor follows me out of the room. He cant kick me out when other patrons like white guys are clearly sitting around using their cellphone. So instead he GLARES ANGRILY at me full of hostility. Both these men are in poor health the young white guy is under 40 but clearly is overweight HBP.

So thats how much they love guests trying to create a documentable incident. And once I left the study room highly paid whitey didnt even pick up a clean napkin I left just to test him. All he did was lock the door shut. He's a j**k and I am glad I didnt talk or say anytging to either of them as they were clearly trying to escalate the situation.

They so hate it asian citizen made progess on writing her article! :(

Cons:
  • Library staff security guard personality

They dont have any concept of public service. They only have two categories of patrons.

Those who they believe contribute to the tax base and those who dont. We all pay sales tax but it breaks down in race generally. The SSL manager african american treats white patrons and guests like a well trained colonialized servant. Everyone who doesnt pass some invisible litmus test is dirt.

Generally if you use the computers or study room for more than a few hours they consider you a nonperson. Whatever happened to intellectuality and engagement? That is materialized as books and events. Its not a club so everyone else is dirt.

And the police wearing his dark suit vest tasar etc is there to amplify that consciousness. Everywhere in DC if its not metro police its secret service, homeland security, ICE, precinct police, park service police, sheriffs, private security guards everywhere. Seems thats the most visible job growth around. They post at Walgreens, CVS, McDonalds, anywhere the privates dont cover or no show.

That sector of "community service and civic engagement" knows no bounds!

Ps. I bet secret service dc will track me down for "daring to write this" thats how bored they really are.

Silver Spring No Business Leaflet Policy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Small business leaflets are restricted in the kiosk area; Levine Music exempt.
  • Staff remove leaflets and say nonapproved items are discarded.

The rumor big government supports big business is somewhat true. They claim to support arts and culture but they will not let small business put postcards or leaflets in the kiosk area except for Levine Music.

Its not as if they lack space! They have two round kiosks with plenty of racks for leaflets and flyers, plus two tables. Yet i see their staff coming out and emptying the racks arbitrarily. Today i placed some post card sized leaflets for a new educational company I work for.

All of them were gone a few hours later. I asked a staff person who in a very brusque manner said anything for profit did not belong unless approved per the rules. Nothing is stamped so how could one tell? I said small businesses need all the help they can get these days.

Then i pointed at a stack of leaflets advertising a bead bazaar store and asked her if those had been approved. The library staff woman snatched the whole stack of them off the rack saying, no they werent. Upon inquiring with the branch manager he said yes they get thrown away. I said it was infuriorating this library advertises SCORE counseling yet it wont allow small businesses (except Levine) to place flyers newsletters notices postcards or leaflets?!?

Its the rules said a circulation staff person who grabbed my leaflets from me as if to make for the garbage can with them. They are the blind law worshippers of Les Miserables!

Small businesses are barely able to stay open but these hoofers probably spend all their dollars at corporate franchises and take grant money from them too. They are blind and batty and corporate!

To make matters worse they use an internal system to reward themselves as top ranked tech innovation library in 2018 and 2017. The place feels institutional esp with the cop standing guard. Imho the procedure is self serving and typical how fascists behave.

Silver Spring library neurotic patrons

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Glass-and-steel library on Wayne Road.
  • Patrons described as selfish and distracting.
  • Staff are bored and unfriendly; the atmosphere is tense.

This library is an attraction on Wayne road at silver spring md because its inside an ultra modern looking concrete glass and steel box. But the patrons are selfish mean and spiteful.

If you are trying to study the guys will stare and try to distract you with odd to hostile mannerisms. White or black there is this nastiness lack of warmth ruthlessness competitiveness even combativeness. Apparently a need to behave like sharks snatching a bit a fresh prey. And the staff are ever bored and also somewhat mean.

Its all that glass. Tension. Prejudice. Waste.

Favoritism. A dream based and built only by money.

Pipe dreams. You could get more reading and studying done riding the bus or inside a food court.
