Monterey Gourmet Ruined Birthday Party

I never heard anything from the owner of Monterey Gourmet. They are awful and very high priced for the quality of the food they provide.

Customer service is non existent. Stay away from them!

I contracted with Monterey Gourmet in Bernardsville NJ to provide lunch for my 3 year old niece's birthday party. My sister-in-law knew the owner, Art and recommended them. It was a small job - lunch for 30. We asked for the chicken to arrive hot (warm) so that we could serve it immediately. First, the food arrived almost an hour late. The sliced steak was to be at room temperature (which it was) but not of very good quality. The chicken was cold (almost frozen) and took 40 minutes for us to cook in the oven which through off the timing of the party and 30 unhappy adults and children waited for food. My sister-in-law complained to Art, who was argumentative and unapologetic. DO NOT use them - terrible customer service!

I am sorry I used them and the owner was rude to my sister-in-law when she asked for a refund or credit. He totally ripped us off and did not care. Unbelievable for a local merchant!
