Monarch Watch Milkweed Market
- - Order 150774 on 3/19/2017 for $74.00; received plugs that grew into a plant not feeding monarch butterflies and the company is unreachable.
on March 19, 2017, I submitted an online order for a flat of milkweed plants, order # 150774. My total cost for the order was $74.00.
In placing the order, I entered my zip code so that I would receive the correct plants. The site displayed pictures of what I could expect. I initially received plugs, which I planted in a timely manner. Because I had no previous experience with the milkweed plant, I didn't realize what I had received until now.
I have taken photos and showed them to everyone I know. The findings were unanimous.
I discovered upon their maturation that what I was sent was a common ***, referred to as poke ***. It does not provide sustenance for the monarch butterflies I have tried to contact this company with no success.
- Appearance of the site
- Product substitution
Preferred solution: Full refund

The milkweed supplier, a native plant restoration nursery, does not grow poke ***, nor would it distribute such an easily recognizable plant. If the complaint had been filed when the plants were received in the spring, along with photos of the plants in their pots, we would have dealt with this at that time.
However the complaint was received in late summer. This customer is simply wrong, the complaint is unreasonable, and there was no product substitution. We can't offer a full refund because we actually delivered the product that was ordered. We take no responsibility for our customers allowing weeds to take over where the milkweeds were planted.
Monarch Watch is a non-profit organization, not a company.
Our mission is to provide habitat for monarchs, and we would never distribute poke *** to anyone who purchased milkweed from us. Poke *** is not food for monarchs.
