No such thing as "Customer Service"

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was trying to fly from Honolulu to Maui to see family friends who were visiting after Christmas. The night before my flight I got food poisoning and needed to cancel my flight which you can only do by calling the 2 numbers provided.

I started calling when the centers opened at 3am (Hawaii time) and did not talk to anyone at all.

My flight was suppose to be at 6am and to get any refund you had to call before departure but there is no way to do that since there is no one answering the phone! As a Hawaii resident, I will never even look at Mokulele Airlines again

Mokulele Airlines - Review in Transport category

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Mokulele Airlines just doesn't seem to care about their customers. This includes everyone from the agents at the terminal, to their ticket agents and customer service on the Big Island.

The image they project is, 'we don't care because we don't have to. Here we are, take it or go somewhere else'.

As a resident of Hawaii it's disheartening to be treated poorly by a local company. I don't plan to fly them again.

Go Mokulele Airlines stranded us on Maui

We are stranded on Maui for three days because of Go! Mokulele Airlines. They have provided us NO assistance during our ordeal. This is the worst travel experience I have had during my 67 years.

On Saturday, Feb 26, 2011 we were scheduled to fly from Maui to Honolulu at 11:55 a.m. on Go to catch a Continental Air flight to Los Angeles at 2:50 p.m. With a stopover of almost three hours, I didn't anticipate any problems. Upon our arrival at the airport we were informed that our flight had been delayed until 2:40 p.m. (actuality left Maui at 4:39 p.m. 4 hours and 44 minutes late) which was too late to make our connection. It was busy so they could not get us on another airline to Honolulu. All they could do for us at the airport (after almost three hours) was to get us on a flight on Tuesday, March 1, to Los Angeles. We could have left the next day for an additional charge of over $1,600. We decided to stay at a reasonably priced hotel. Go gave us a piece of paper with a customer care number they said we could call for assistance.

Fortunately, we have a relative on Maui who was able to pick us up. At her home we went on line to find a hotel. I found that the only hotels that were available were high priced ones like the Four Seasons with rates much too high for us. I tried to call Go's customer care, but the fine print said they are only open M-F. Our relative allowed us to stay and camp out in her living room living out of our suitcases. The home in Kahului was built in the 50's and has a low ceiling with no air conditioning. It will be 83 degrees today and with the humidity it is very uncomfortable for us.

This morning (Monday, Feb 28), I called Go's customer care and the conversation did not go well. In short they had no other obligation than to get us to Honolulu on Saturday. I guess we could have flown with them to Honolulu on Saturday and slept in the airport as no flights were available. No, they are not responsible for anything and further they will not provide any type of assistance. Very importunely, they will not assist us in getting an earlier flight with Continental as they do not have a service agreement with them. This all seemed scripted so they must provide this "customer care" to a lot of people.

Thinking about this disaster and doing some research I would like to pass along the following:

Hawaiian Airlines by my count has 24 flights a day from Maui to Honolulu. Go Airlines as 7. Just by this count you have a better chance to make your connection on Hawaiian Air in case of a delay.

Hawaiian Air is a member of the Air Transport Association "Customer First" program while Go is not. If you are interested do a Google search to get more information.

Hawaiian Airlines has a service agreement with Continental Airlines (Also Customer First member) and this may have facilitated our return home. Go has no such agreements. Hawaiian Airlines also has flights of its own to the mainland and this may have helped us.

We are incurring many additional costs on Maui during our three day forced extended stay. There is the mental toll also. I recommend that you do not fly with Go! Mokulele Airlines. It is not worth the $20-$30 you save on a ticket.

Update: I spoke with an airline reservation agent today to inquire about cancelled Go flights as I do not want to miss my connection to L.A. tomorrow. She warned me about cancellations and that flights had been cancelled today. I checked the status of some flights on Go Airlines yesterday on their website and found five flights that were cancelled A full search would probably would have revealed more. Further I checked the the two morning Go flights from Maui to Honolulu this morning (Monday) and found one cancelled. Looks like my nightmare may continue.

Do a Google search and you will find similar reviews. I should have checked reviews before I booked.

Instead of posting your rant and raves here, write all your complaints to the FAA....Im sure if they are enough letters submitted a investigation will begin. just take into consideration that the agents are just as human as passengers, and deal with these kinds of things on a daily basis, Im sure they are just as frustrated as we are as passengers and only are doing what MESA AIRLINES The OWNERS OF GO!MOKULELE trained them to do.

it is not their fault the planes are either canceled or delayed . I work for a big carrier and 50 pissed off pax with nowhere to go is nothing compared to 200 plus passengers irate.

Give the agents a break, and stick it to the people who's calling the shots..Make your voice and letters heard by the TOP DAWGS!

SHAME ON YOU GO AIRLINES FOR YOUR IMMATURE AND PATHETIC SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC! SHAME ON YOU FOR PUTTING A LOT OF PASSENGERS IN HARMS WAY FOR ALL YOUR DELAYS!YOU HAVE DONE SO MUCH DAMAGE AND A LOT OF ANGRY FRUSTRATIONS THAT YOU HAVE GAINED LOTS OF COMPLAINT!

WE ARE ROOTING TO SHUT YOU DOWN FROM SERVICE! WHY EVEN BOTHER MAKING RESERVATIONS WHEN YOU CANNOT ABIDE BY THEM.

IT'S A REAL NEGATIVE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT THEY WILL NEVER RETURN ON YOUR AIRLINES AGAIN. WE WILL CONTINUE TO SHARE THESE MESSAGES WITH OTHERS!

GoMokulele is a no go! My new bride and myself thought that a nice simple day trip to Honolulu would be a welcomed addition to our Hawaiian honeymoon.

Unfortunately we booked with these *** bags. They got us to Honolulu from Kona but getting back with them proved impossible! They first delayed our return flight which was scheduled for 7pm until 11:45 at which time they canceled the flight completely. That night we were informed that it would take them two more days to get us back!

No explanation no concern for previous plans, just we'll get you there when we get you there. So that night I booked with Hawaiian Airlines for the next morning. Got on that flight, no problems at all. Sitting in Volcano eating dinner that night and GoMokelele calls me to inform me that the flight they scheduled me on for the next day had already been cancelled and they needed to reschedule us again.

Nothing but a comedy of errors with these guys. AVOID AT ALL COST...BETTER YET JUST SWIM YOU'LL GET THERE QUICKER

Go Mokulele is a scam pretending to be an airline!

Normally I'm an easy going kind of guy that doesn't get to upset when things go wrong, but it's hard not to get upset when you fall victim to an obvious scam. Read the reviews like I should have before I made my travel plans. I haven't found a single review praising Mokulele for their outstanding service. Instead they are all more like "I would rather swim the Pacific than get aboard another one of their flights"!

We added a day trip from Kona to Honolulu while on our honeymoon. They delayed our flight to Honolulu for half an hour for reasons that nobody really knew. Our return trip to Kona later that day was at first postponed from 7pm until midnight, then right when we were supposed to start boarding, they cancelled the flight completely. At this point we had to stand in there line for 1 and half hour. When we finally made it to the rather unpleasant man working the counter, he assured us that there was nothing he could do to help us. So now I was getting upset. We didn't have anything we needed for an overnight stay and my wife asked what are suppose to do? He stood there with a rather blank expression on his face and I leaned over to her and said they are telling us ***! He replied with that's not what I'm saying. My responce was what are you telling me then because your not going to help us get a flight out tonight, you're telling me that you can't get us back to the Big Island for two more days. That means I'm going to have to pay for 2 nights in a cottage I won't us and pay for 2 days car rental I won't drive. So they put us up in a cheap hotel for the night and told us we could come back in the morning and wait to see if we could get on a flight.

By this time I could see that this was night a company I wanted to do business with, so I booked with Hawaiian airlines that night and we flew out the next morning. Lesson learned. GoMokulele will rip you off. I didn't tell them that I was flying out with a different airline so I was still on their flight to leave on Saturday. And they call me Friday night while I'm already sitting back in Volcano and inform that my rescheduled flight has been rescheduled!

This company has no respect for their customers. I don't know how they are still operating. I've never felt so wronged by a company in my life. When you try to contact their customer service, their system tells you the number has been changed and then it disconnects. I guess if I offered a service as bad as theirs, I wouldn't want to have to talk to people either. When you get to there service counter you won't know whether your at an airport or if you've entered the seventh level of ***! Just save yourself the hastle and fly with anyone else.

I just had a really horrible experience with this company this Christmas. My first trial was accepted, even they gave me a really small aircraft (9 seats only!!!).

It is unsafe but I accepted that. However, my second flight was from Kauai to Honolulu. I bought my ticket 2 months ago. My flight was depaturing at 12:05pm.

I finished my check in at 11: 25 am. During my check in, they didn't mention anything about my flight which was actually oversold tickets. Even it was supposed to board at 11:30 am, when I got into the gate, I was waiting for 20 minutes in line (that was around 12:00 pm). When I got to the flight, they called me, saying that they oversold tickets, and since I was the last one to check in, I have to get off from the plane.

In the plane, they promised me to pick me up when they come back, but when I were on the ground, as one of their "SUPERVISOR" showed up, she TRIED to SOLVE my problem saying I have to purchase another tickets by myself if I want to do my connection to Toronto on time. That's insane!!!!!! That's not a solution. They is robbing!!!!

Their service peole on ground were rude too. They might say bad thing about you in front you and if you get mad, they just said:" if you are being mad on me, I will turn away!!!" I was so mad about this experience and even I was back to call the customer care which is supposed to CARE us, their attitude was not satisfying. They just asked me to send request through email and it's ganna take me a least a month to get reply. Such an ***!!!!

So what's the point to have telephone service!!!!!

Overall, I have really good time in Hawaii, but with such a company, I'm ganna say they will ruin you journey. So if you consider a pleasant vocation in Hawaii, don't think of saving such little money, pay more to Hawaiian Airline, get rid of Go!Mokulele.

Don't let them mess up your trip. Let them die by themselves

I had a similar frustrating experience just last week. It cost my husband and me lost wages and additional expenses. Thank you for the suggestion from BigMike...I did file a complaint with the FAA and will be writing to the Hawaii Better Business Bureau, the Department of Tourism, Expedia, and any travel agent I can locate to spread the word about this incompetent business.

Canceled flight

On Feb 11 2011 four of us were to fly from HNL to Kona. When we arrived at 10 am for a 11:30 am flight we were informed it had been canceled due to mechanical problems. Even though they had corresponed with us on email for reservations they claimed they did not have contact information. They made us wait on standby until 8:30 pm before they got us a hotel. During our wait we observed that almost every flight that day was delayed or canceled. When we came back the next day our flight was again delayed one hour. While we waited the first day one of our bags did go to Kona and back.

We were treated with nothing but contempt and indifferene by all the ticket and gate agents. We also learned the locals refuse to fly with them because they are so undependable.

We lost the cost of one day condo and car rental. We lost almost two days of our 10 vacation sitting at the airport. Some of our party who were to arrive a day after us had to pay a taxi $60 to take them to the resort because we were not there to get the car and pick them up.

We have learned they have a C minus rating with the BBB and over 40 formal complaints have been filed against them.

We have gotten the same canned response from them at every point since day one. Their only responsibility is to get you there, it does not matter if it takes 5 years. Wish we had done our homework before we purchased our tickets. We will swim before we ever fly with them again!

I can't agree with you more. The same thing happened to me and my newly married bride on our honeymoon.

They continually delayed our flight back to Kona from Honolulu. We wised up quickly and booked a return flight with Hawaiian Airlines only after Mokelele told us it would take two days to get us back to the Big Island. Nothing was done to ease our concerns and the employees were very apathetic to our situation. Fly Hawaiian!!!

These guys turned a day trip to Pearl Habit into a nightmare...And not joking, as I'm typing this out they just called me and cancelled the return flight I was suppose to me on tomorrow.

They are incompetent fools! Avoid at all cost.

Mokulele almost made us miss our connecting flight

My husband is handicapped and we are in our 60s. We had a wheelchair waiting at Honolulu from Kauai to take us to check in. We waited 45 minutes for someone to come. A agent from Mokulele insisted on taking us out of the airport and running on the outside to American airlines. The security guard try to tell him that was the wrong way he would not listen. We had to recheck in at the out side desk and go through security again. They even took my water that I had purchased at the airport in Kauai. We had 2 hours layover but because of the mess this man created the agent had to call the plane to let them know we were on our way. We are seniors and the running was certainly not good for our health. This was not right.

Thank You

"We're seniors! You better let us go first and not require us to follow any of your regulations.

We're special and certainly more important than the younger folks because we know everything. Don't you dare hold us up... we have a wheelchair, doctor, nurse, oxygen tent and hospital bed waiting for us at our destination." Blow it out your fat old butt! I'm 66 and still manage to take care of myself just fine.

NOBODY owes me anything.

I don't expect to be treated any different than anyone else...regardless of age. Now if they ever start treating people with regards to their maturity level you would definitely qualify as a 1st-grade student.

Do Not fly go!Mokulele Airlines!

They cancelled my flight from Kauai to Honolulu in December 2009. I have still not received my refund.

Furthermore, their customer service department has put it on me to call them back every time I want to know the status. Their account department claims that a refund was issued in March, but I have checked my statement, along with calling my credit card company...but no refund was given. Just to be clear, Mokulele Airlines cancelled my flight a few hours before boarding, forcing me to purchase a second flight home from another airlines, but will not give me my money back.

I consider that stealing. I will never fly with them again.

Poor poor Customer service i was 45 min early should have made my flight but the check in attendant had to restart the computer. He walked away and decided to come back just as the flight was about to leave. They said i couldn't make it so they said i had to hop on the next one which was 6 hours later. Waited for the next one i guess it ended up being full so they said I needed to come back tomorrow and that there would be a 30$ fee.

Came back the next day, the 30$ fee ended up being 70$ because they said I had to buy a whole new ticket. Tried to buy it but the lady on the phone said I couldn't make that plane which was funny cause the plane hadn't even arrived yet. She I would have to wait for the next flight 6 hours later... FAT CHANCE, like i'm dumb enough to do That all over again.

I flew with Hawaiian Airlines instead, much better customer service its definitely worth the 5 extra dollars. (Verses how much money I wasted on the original ticket, a hotel for the night, and the 2nd ticket so I could just get home.) NEVER AGAIN :? :? :?

I live on Maui and travel frequently to Honolulu. I have had so many terrible experiences with GO, I can't begin to tell you.

The Honolulu counter folks are the exact opposite of Aloha.

Rude, tita, useless. If GO is the only option, I will not fly that day.

This airline has the worst customer service ever! I would probably give it a rating of zero if there was one.... I probably should have read the reviews about this airline before booking because it cost our family $300 more and over 5 hours at the Hilo airport with 2 children aged 6 and 8. Here is what happened:

On Friday, March 18th, 2011, my family and I were scheduled to fly from Hilo, Hawaii to Honolulu, Hawaii on Mokulele. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 5:00pm. When we arrived at the ticket counter at 2:30pm, we were informed that the flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. We were asked if “we got a message”. We had not been called and we did not receive any messages. The ticket agents were offering to put us on another flight the next day and pay for hotel costs but due to our vacation plans, we had already booked and prepaid a hotel and rental car in Honolulu. They also suggested we might try another airline.

So, we booked another flight to Honolulu with Hawaiian Airlines. Due to last minute booking fares… it cost us $300 more. Hawaiian Airlines were very friendly and tried to really accommodate us on earlier flights but it just wasn't possible.....

This was a great inconvenience to us because the only flight we could get booked on was leaving at 8:21pm. This meant that we were at the airport for 5+ hours with our two children (ages 6 and 8) until our flight left and we did not arrive into Honolulu until 9:10pm. We did not get to our hotel until 10:30pm and we missed a planned dinner.

We contacted 'customer service' at Mokulele Airline and their response was:

Thank you for contacting Go! Mokulele Customer Care. We are sympathetic to the situation that you have described and we are sorry to have given a poor impression of our operations. We strive to provide our customers with the best possible service and when it fails to meet their expectations, it’s important for us to know. Please accept our apology for the inconvenience that occurred to your travel plans....

They went on to quote that it is in their 'contract' that it is not they are not responsible for delays, schedule changes…. Basically, TOO BAD….

They refunded us the original airfare but would not give us the difference in the cost of booking another flight with Hawaiian… even though… they would have booked us into a hotel for the night, paid for meals and travel costs to put us on the next flight out which was the next day…. Having us stay for the night and all the associated costs would have been MORE than the $300 that we were requesting.

I requested that my case be forwarded to upper management and this was their response:

I forwarded your claim to Upper Management for further review as discussed. Your request for the difference in airfare has been denied. No further consideration will be taken. This is a final decision. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience that occurred to your travel plans.

Mokulele has no sense of business costs and GOOD customer service. This is quite evident in the BAD reviews online (they are everywhere…. VERY few good ones). I know my review will not make a difference to Mokulele but I hope it will just add to all the BAD reviews and make more people think TWICE about booking with them..

A very angry Mother with a family that is now $300 less because Mokulele does not care about their customers.

Here's all you need to know. Type in Mokulele airlines review into google.

And one of the first returns on the list is Pissed Consumer...enough said! They are just awful. Cancelled flights, no customer service, and people working the counters that seem to have an ability to bring hatred out in even the most calm and collected individual. This company is run by inept trolls.

They are part of the dark side! Steer clear.

This airline, if you can call them an airline...must be stopped! My beautiful bride and myself were on our honeymoon and thought a day trip from Kona to Honolulu would be a nice addition to our Hawaiian adventure.

Going over was was ok, about a half hour delay but we got there. Our return flight never came. We were suppose to leave at 7 pm, got there to check in and found that the flight was delayed until midnight. So we took a $40 cab ride to go eat.

Returned to the airport and found that most of the

flights were being cancelled. So we waited, and surprise surprise they cancelled our flight as well. Then they informed us that they couldn't get us back to Kona for 2 days. Then they cancelled our rescheduled flight.

I would still be in Hawaii if I would have waited for Mokulele to fly us out. I booked with Hawaii airlines and flew out the next morning. Of a 7 day honeymoon in Hawaii, this airlines is the only thing I was not happy with. Avoid them at all cost.

And getting to talk to anyone in customer service is impossible. They cost me $500 in missed hotel stays, car rental, and additional plane tickets.

Guest

Go Mokulele cancelled our flight due to mechanical issues then issued us with boarding passes the next flight 2 hours later, giving us just enough time to make our connection in HNL if everything went well. When we attempted to board were told we were only on stand by with 17 other people, and we would not be on that flight or any other flight that day.

They told us no other arilines with which they had reciprocal arrangements could accomodate us and that we should come back tomorrow. We took matters into our own hands and booked our own seats at our own cost on another airline so that we would not be at their mercy tomorrow. A 25 minute trip to HNL ended up taking 10 hours.

Our bags are still AWOL and we hold little hope of ever seeing them again. It is unclear if the Go Mokulele staff in both Lihue and HNL are deliberatly obtuse or extremely unintelligent, this was easily the worst experience with an airline I have ever had the misfortune to experience.

Guest

Just returned from a 3 Island trip to Hawaii. I too made the mistake of booking Mokulele. When I arrinved 1 Hour 45 minutes before my flight I was told that it had just taken off. After spending 2 hours at the counter I was booked on the am flight. The ticket agent told me that this happened because they didn't have any contact info for me to tell me about the schedule change. I then asked "How did you manage to email me my ticket receipt ?"

Flight from Maui to Kona was a prop plane that our bags wouldn't fit on. Had to buy tickets on another airline so we could take our bags along. No offer of any refund was made by the airline.

Next trip.....I will avoid Mokulele at any and all cost. Nightmare !

Based on my personal experience in Septebmer 2010, I would also strongly recommend not to fly GoMokulele. In fact, the lack of "customer service" or basic courtesy GoMokulele has displayed damped my travel experience and impression of Hawaii:

(1) Their quote-end-quote "customer service" is supposed to be extension 6, but when I hit "6", no one ever answered the phone.

Folks, there was even no answering message at all, nothing that at least says "Thank you for calling. We will be right with you"...

(2) If you've been to Hawaii, you know how these small planes operate - the so-called "gates" are stinky,hall-inthe-wall space, semi-open air where you wait, staring at the dirty carpet, and they have you walk in open air, on the side of the landing field/landing patch, to get in the plane.

I arrived at the Gate 10 minutes prior to the departure time, and could see the plane in clear sight through the window, it's 1-minute walk from where I was! But the GoMokulele rep insisted the plane has "left" - blatant lie, and I should have arrived 90-minute before then to check in. I'd agree with that *IF* it's a large plane and longer flight, this flight was a small plane, and between the islands. He insisted there's not enough time to let me pass through that tiny door to my plane in plain sight and that I'd have to get on the next plane 2 hours later.

An hour later, when I got to the other waiting room, the GoMokulele's rep arrogantly replied with a pouting face, "We require a one-hour-and-half time check-in. Just because a smaller plane doesn't mean you would not need the long check-in time."

Guest

I've just had a 8.45am flight between Honolulu and Kona later this month rescheduled to 11.45am, which means that my daytrip to the Big Island is now a half-day trip. I asked for a refund (the product they're now providing is not the same one I orginally purchased) but they won't provide one.

The will let me use the credit within 12 months but that's of no use as I'm not going to fly back from Australia just to use their ticket.

So now I have 2 choices, I can take the rescheduled flight and have a much shorter daytrip, or I accept that this airlines has sold me worthless tickets and that they've wasted US$200 of my money.

Folks, don't chance it with Mokulele... book with hawaiian instead.
