Misty Moonlight Diner, blatantly discriminated against me and my service dog. Not to mention broke the law in doing!

After our original waitress served our drinks, then another waitress came over and said the dog was not allowed.

I told them, she was a service dog, not a "pet". The waitress said the dog had to have on a service dog vest, or paperwork which is untrue per ADA. She asked what was wrong with me and what the dog was used for, which I answered DPT, Balance and Retrieval and The waitress said the dog still couldn't stay. I afforded up proof from the ADA (American Disability Act) site, the waitress read part of it, spoke to the manager a few times, but each time, she came back with the same answer and was just out right rude and embarrassing.

She made us feel extremely uncomfortable and like we were the ones breaking the law! I never had a problem in this place before so I dont know if its a new manager or not, but this was totally uncalled for and wrong!

Our original waitress came over and said, "sorry, I cant take your order!". After over 30 mins of this embarrassing encounter, I called the cops To have it on file and an officer showed up, the waitress brought him over to our table and with a huge grin, said, "you have a visitor ". The officer was extremely nice and helpful, he agreed with our assessment, but said he couldn't make them let us stay.

Which we, obviously, didn't want to, however, I wanted it documented. The manager put a trespass order on me, which is fine because I will never go back to that place again. The officer even explained to her the laws and that a service dog does not need to wear a vest or need paperwork and she told him from what he told me that the board of Health said thats the rules that she was going by and he told her thats wrong and she was breaking the law, but she said she was not backing down and that she did not want us there any longer. The officer knew the laws and knew I was in my right and saw my dog was very well trained and in control but like he said there was nothing he can do if they did not want me there.

Oh, I forgot to mention, said "manager" Bonnie, refused to come out herself, to address our concerns, even after repeated requests.

She cowardly had her staff handle it. I am completely disappointed and actually disgusted by the whole ordeal!! Especially considering my brother just passed away, and I came down here from Florida to spend this time with my mom and family and we have to go through this. That is just so wrong.

My mother already heartbroken.

She didnt need this too. None of us did

Preferred solution: Apology

User's recommendation: Decide for yourself, but if you have a service dog I wouldn’t recommend this place
