Total scam.
- - I was referred by Hancock County Resource Center, but no help.
- - They collect federal money and don't help most people; I wasn't involved with a bank.
I was referred to them by Hancock County Resource center for help. No help at all.
This place collects a lot of money from the federal government and they don't do diddly to help most people. Where is the money going?
I couldn't find help at all because I wasn't involved with a bank. Reporting them.
- Seems like they are more interested in collecting federal funds than helpin
Preferred solution: The help they offer.

- - They claim the staff are dishonest and only help those they want, not those who qualify, and they will report this to the government website.
These are some very dishonest people they help who they want not who qualifies and you can send them the information over and over they say they never got it. I am going to report this to the government website

It has taken from Oct until Mar. It takes time to gather all the info and correct documentation.
Then it takes time for it to be reviewed and confirmed.
Once all of the correct info is submitted, reviewed and confirmed it only takes about a week for approval. Yes it is a slow process but these people will support you every step of the way, just don't expect overnight results.
User's recommendation: Be prepared before you start, call for a Complete list of required docs.
Best thing ever
I got a brochure in the mail. Started the paperwork online.
I got an email about additional documentation needed. The gentleman that assisted was nice and friendly.

MS home saver doesn't really help the working poor
- - Lost wages and hours from lack of work; I sought help but was denied after paperwork.
- - Denied due to prior years' income being too high.
I lost wages and hours on my job due to lack of work. I fell behind on my home payments and they told me they could assist me only to do plenty of paperwork and discover that I wasn't eligible.
They said even though I lost hours on my job the two previous years showed that I made to much money.
So I got denied. I'm like ok well what about for this years earnings smh this is a waste.
Nepotism at work and a miss use of federal funds.
- - Alleged nepotism and misused funds; calls for probe of EEOC violations and misuse of government resources; LIHTC favors developers over poor.
Mississippi Home Corporation is a state/federal agency that is responsible for administering funds for various federal housing programs. However there is a large amount of nepotism in leadership roles, and a miss use of govt.
funds, transferring federal money from one grant to the next for personal benefit and developer influence. This organization is in need of a wide investigation into EEOC violations and misuse of government resources. As a former employee believing I was joining the fight to help low income families receive resources set-a-side to help promote a better quality of life. I was disappointed to learn that the goal was not at all to help those in need but instead to keep the wealthy developers that build the LIHTC developments profitable at the expense of the poor or under employed.
The developments that are completed continue to be in lower income areas with poor schools and the upkeep never lasts the required 30 years. Once the money is gone, developers scattered and the properties become derelict.
Leaving the tenants in the lurch. Home ownership is not promoted but instead the focus is on renters for the benefit of the rich property owners.

Review in Government and Politics category from Ridgeland, Mississippi
- - Homesavers of MS provided little help with mortgage.
- - They were 4 months behind and filed bankruptcy.
- - A bank forbearance offer was made.
Just went thru this nightmare with Homesavers of MS Home Corp. what a bunch of worthless government workers trying to justify their cushy jobs.
My husband has been unemployed for 9 months- exhausted his Unemployment benefits. I took on a second job to keep paying our monthly bills. We still ended up having to file Bankruptsy to rid ourselves of cc debt. We were still making our house payments since we had reaffirm our mortgage in the Bankruptsy Then I lost my regular job & only had the 1099 job.
Unemployment gave my husband the Obama Wants to Help You Save Your Home brochure. I called my mortgage company BancorpSouth to make sure it was not a scam. They told me to go ahead & get started with the paperwork with HS but to fill out their paperwork also. When I questioned this the reply was HS could take longer & this way BancorpSouth would know we were trying to make some arrangements.
Fast forward 3 months- I get a notice we are 4 months behind. In all this time neither company had replied to my calls or emails. 3 days ago I get a call from bank saying all they can do is give us a 6 month forbearance at $200 per month which would not be applied to my payments but sit in escrow until we were back on our feet or employed again. She said Homesavers was probably going to pay the past due & six months so it wouldn't be that bad.
The very next day I get a short curt email from my rep MS. MyLeisha Reed telling me if we were still in Bankruptsy ( we weren't- I had included all that in the mountain of paperwork they requested) All Of a sudden we don't qualify for anything except going deeper into debt. Homesavers is BS. There's a loophole for everything to keep u from getting assistance.
I went back on line & found HOPE. Spent 1 hour on line with a very nice woman who told me the banks forbearance was the best offer I was going to get & maybe I should cut out cable. When I asked what other programs she said that she was just a counselor & I had basically done everything right! Sooo frustrating!
Don't fall for any of it- you will just be further behind in mortgage payments & these idiots will have jobs at taxpayer's expense doing nothing but shuffling paper !! What a waste of time & money!
Pitiful Service from ignorant staff
- - Initial contact said we were a perfect fit.
- - We had to provide lots of paperwork.
- - Ms. Reed did not read the documents and told us we do not qualify.
All the reviews are correct. The first contact made it sound like we were perfect for this program.
My husband unemployed and I'm underemployed. Had to produce a pile of paperwork which could have been prevented if MS. Reed knew what she was doing or had even bothered to read out application. She also did not read any of the paperwork that was submitted.
After sending several emails asking what the progress was she sends a rude email back saying we don't qualify. She could have told us this from the application.
Don't fall for it. Total waste of our time and false hope.

Mississippi Home Corporation Home Saver Program Review
- - In MS, medical leave and unpaid bills disqualify you from any assistance, including this program.
- - The working poor continue to suffer.
Apparently if you're off work for medical reasons and get behind on your bills, you don't qualify for any type of assistance in the state of MS, including this program... it's the working poor that continue to suffer!
MISSISSIPPI HOMESAVER CORP IS A JOKE
- - I was told I only needed a part-time job to qualify after submitting paperwork.
- - I did the work and was denied three days later; I fear foreclosure.
THEY TOLD ME ALL I NEEDED TO QUALIFY AFTER TURNING IN A PILE OF PAPERWORK 2 TIMES, WAS A PART TIME JOB. i DID ALL I COULD AND GOT THIS PART TIME JOB AND 3 DAYS LATER THEY DENIED ME.
THIS OBAMA PROGRAM IS A JOKE, NOW I KNOW WHY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE LOST THEIR HOMES. I WILL NOW BE HEADED FOR FORECLOSURE AND THE LOSS OF MY HOME. THEY MAKE IT SOUND LIKE THEY ARE ALL THERE TO HELP, UNTIL YOU JUMP THROUGH 500 HOOPS JUST TO GET DENIED.
WHAT ANOTHER USELESS GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH.
Obama hardest hit fund is a joke
- - MS Home Corp in Mississippi required faxed paperwork; staffer gave wrong information about a part-time job, leading to denial after redoing paperwork.
In Mississippi it is handled through MS Home corp. After faxing piles of paperwork the mshomecorp told me all i needed to qualify for this program was a part time job showing i was under employed.
I finally found this part time job to qualify and they made me redo all the paperwork and refax it all again. It took them 3 days to make a decision. DENIED.
Talk about major frustration and after contacting them as to why i was denied, they informed me that someone at their office had told me the wrong information about the part time job. I personally find when it comes down to getting government help, most of it is a joke.
