Don't Live Here

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

***Save yourself so much frustration and anxiety by not moving here!***I am currently in my third year of living at Miller Estates and in my second apartment here. The first year was ok.

I could tell these were older apartments and the landscaping and maintenance could use a lot of improvement. There was (and still is) so much dog and cat *** littered around the complex. They have a colony of feral cats that use patches of dirt as their litter box. And there a LOTS of patches of dirt because the grass does not grow in many areas of the apartment complex.

And people do not pick up after their dogs and are not forced to. You have to keep your eyes on the sidewalk while you are walking to avoid the *** someone has stepped in and smeared across the sidewalk. If that was it, I could handle it and be ok with living here. But there is so much more…it's going to be a long post so stick around. When I first moved into my apartment about a month in my water heater did not work. I was without hot water for three days before it was fixed.

I called each day and walked over to the leasing office each day to ask when it would be fixed. Finally the third day I interrupted the leasing agent during a meeting with another tenant and demanded to know when my hot water was going to be fixed. A maintenance guy was there with in the hour.My first apartment also had a leak from my upstairs neighbor. Their water heater leaked into my living room basically.

The first (yes the first) time this happened they were reasonably quick in responding. They got someone in there to vacuum up the water and place fans on the carpet. But what they found out is that the piping/wiring had my water heater connected to the second floor and the second floor connected to me on the first floor. I thought they fixed whatever the problem was, but apparently not.

Because I had another leak. This was eventually cleaned up. Then it started leaking again but when I brought this to the leasing office's attention nothing was done. Then I got a notice from them stating that I couldn't renew my lease on that apartment because they wanted to refurbish it.

So about two months later they found another apartment for me to move into, and then they finally addressed the leaking issue. My "new" apartment had upgrades. Very cheap upgrades. There is a rip in the vinyl flooring that they just glued back down, there are paint streaks and multiple spots that they missed. The cabinets still stick.

The fan was coated in dust, I had to remove the blades and soak them in the sink to remove the dust. So many things…But hey I'm a pretty easy going gal and up until this point the management has been kind and reasonably easy to work with.I would like to point out at this point that a notice had been put on each door stating that smoking was only allowed away from the buildings. This was not enforced in any way. Neither was keeping patios or landings clean enforced.

People have junk sitting out on their patios and in front of their doors. Some apartments honestly look like hoarders live there. But anyways back to the importance of the no smoking notice. I have asthma and after this notice came out I reported a few of my neighbors that would still smoke on their patio. Nothing was done about this.

Or the neighbors I suspect were smoking inside of their apartment because my apartment always smelled like smoke . But I happened to have a bad asthma attack one night, I managed it through the night and it was getting better by morning. I walked outside that morning right into the smoke from my neighbors and my asthma kicked in again bad enough that I had to go to the emergency room and get a breathing treatment done. Not fun or cheap. They have new management and people working in the office now.

Different people from when I first moved in and enjoyed working with. These people have no customer service skills. I work in this industry and am constantly amazed by the lack of skills they have. I walk into the leasing office and get ignored.

One time the new manager Jared was at his desk with the door closed. I could hear him clearly through the door. I waited about 5 minutes to be polite and let him finish his business. When it was still going I knocked on the door, he paused in his conversation and then continued to talk and did not acknowledge me at all.

All I wanted to do was drop of my rent payment! I wanted to give them money! I knocked again and called out "Hello?". I was once again ignored and I could actually hear him get up and move further away from the door. There are many instances where this same type of attitude is displayed.

And don’t even try and call the office because they won't answer or listen to any voicemail you leave. Unless they are expecting a call about rent or late fee's. Which brings me to my final complaint, but certainly not the last of the complaints that I could list. This Saturday I walked to the leasing office to pay my rent for March at about 3:40 pm. They close at four on Saturdays.

No one was in the office and the door was locked. There was no sign on the door indicating if someone would return or why the office was closed. I would have waited or come back if there was a note indicating this. I wasn't about the leave an almost 900.00 dollar check, slipped under the door.

So I called and left a voicemail stating I was there ready to pay my rent but no one was in the office. The next day (Sunday) I receive a notice on my door stating that my rent is late, I owe a late fee, and I have three days to pay or vacate. I was honestly flabbergasted. They couldn't have someone in the office during their posted business hours but they could have someone working on a Sunday when the office is closed, and give me a late notice?

I left another voicemail on Sunday about this.So Monday morning I go over to the leasing office and speak with Jared the manager. They still haven't listened to any of my voicemails. I explain the situation and turn in my full rent check. He states that he will see what he can do about the late fee.

I get a call today (3/8/18) from the assistant manager asking what I would like to do about my late fee. I re-explain everything and get the snottiest attitude back. No compassion, no moral responsibility about them not being in the office to take my check. I was told "We aren't required to put a sign or anything on the door when we step out of the office." "The third day of the month is grace period and you should really pay your rent on the first." "There are other ways you could have paid rent and should have tried this." (I have paid my rent online so many times and their system never pulls the money out and I always have ended up paying with check.

And the manager Jared knows about this issue.)I'm just at a loss…I have never worked with a leasing office like this. All I can say is I'm getting out as soon as I can and don't recommend anyone else moving here.

DO NOT MOVE HERE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have lived at miller estates for 3 years now, never once have we missed a payment, or received any form of complaint. My all means we are good tenants. At first it was a great place to live, the grounds were well kept, its in a good area and the management was constantly doing events to bring the community together , this all changed about a year ago when new management took over.

All of a sudden, eviction notices, under payment of rent notices and everything in between started to pop up on our door EVERY SINGLE MONTH. Every month we go to the office(for some reason they REFUSE to answer the phone or voicemails, ask them about the charges and lo and behold its a "mistake" and we end up not having to pay. To make matters worse every single time we go to the office to dispute these faulty charges the "assistant manager" Chammy Roses, is completely disrespectful, unhelpful and rude.

Most recently we had to go down and argue with him for 20 minutes about a charge before he reluctantly printed us a summary of charges and lo and behold he was wrong.

I am not sure if this is a scam he is pulling or if it is just incredibly poor management, but if you want an apartment management team that wants nothing to do with you but trying to get your money move here. If not find somewhere else because until this is fixed, you are better off living anywhere else

For those of you thinking i am just venting about a bad experience you should know that this is not just me. Many of the long term tenants are frustrated with the management group. In fact, while we were at the office most recently disputing papers Chammy had left an intent to vacate form from another previous tenant sitting on his desk. Lo and behold, on that form this person had sighted concerns with management as their reason for leaving.

To the owners of Miller estates: you have a great property in a good area, but your management is making it almost unbearable to live here. I have yet to see the manager, but Chammy should not have a job working for you. I manage a team of about 50, if any of my employees acted the way he does they would not have jobs.

Utterly terrible

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Words cannot express how terrible this apartment complex was for me and my wife. We moved here for 9 months while our house was being build. To start off, we were told that our unit would have washer and dryer, after signing all the paperwork and getting the keys we find out the unit did NOT have washer/dryer. We went back to the office and was told since the contract was signed we were basically screwed... ok.... not a huge deal, mild inconvenience but we moved on.

The apartment itself was a disaster. Didn't look like it had been cleaned since the last tenant was there, linoleum was peeling in the bathrooms, and it looked like someone was murdered on the carpets. I made sure to document all of this on the move in sheet that was provided to us. The real problems began once we tried to move out. I understood that I would not get all of my $900.00 deposit back, because there were small holes in the walls from hanging pictures, TV's, and the minor dents in the wall from moving furniture around, but I assumed I would get a little bit back, boy was I wrong.

After we moved out I was informed that not only would we not get the deposit back, but we needed to pay an additional $900.00 for damages. I was appalled. I had lived in apartments for over 8 years and never once have I had to pay, I'm a clean person, had people over regularly so I keep a clean place. They told me the carpets all needed to be replaced, all the linoleum needed to be replaced, the kitchen needed new counter tops, and that the bathroom had mold and was to be repainted. I referred back to the move in sheet we filled out and all of this was listed so IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT US. My big mistake was that I did not take pictures of this, and assumed that the move in sheet was enough. I wish the story stopped here, but wait! there is more.... After talking with them about the very next day they sent us to collections where there were additional fees, I called Miller Estates and was told that since the bill was sent to collections they were done with me. I've never once dealt with collections because I pay my bills on time. I paid the bill since I didn't have the time to deal with getting a lawyer.

I have never in my life dealt with such an unprofessional company in my entire life. This was a terrible experience. WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER RENT HERE. There are 100% better apartments within a 5 mile radius. If for some crazy reason you decide to live there take pictures of EVERYTHING, look over ALL legal documents. Last thing, they made me sign a *** order saying I could not say anything negative about the complex....

Not managed properly.

Not managed properly. They are not equipped for the demand and the new tenant and current tenant suffers. Too many lost keys and too much time waiting on new ones. Washer line busted on an evening and the emergency contact was not answering. The wash room literally flooded and lost a lot of water. The tenants are how that cost is covered.

I would not recommend moving here but if I don't they will raise my rent! The upkeep is decent. Rules are not enforced so there is a lot of dog *** everywhere and shrubs are poorly taken care of.

They started closing the recreational room where the laundry recharge machine is but still claim 24 hour laundry. This is how they manage the grounds.

Bad place to live, Crime, theft, drugs, lazy staff

I absolutely hate living here. The staff is a pain to deal with, i would contact them about something that needs to be taken care of and usually i have to contact them 3-4 times before anything happens.

I had my screen door that needed to be fixed and they came in and took it and it's been a few months already and i've yet to see them put it back in. The crime rate in this complex is ridiculous. I've had my license plate tags stolen twice, my mail tampered with, my car broken into and my stereo stolen all within a year. People's cars were stolen in the parking lot (which is the worst apartment parking lot i've ever seen).

I've had packages delivered that were opened (Luckily it was not worth stealing otherwise it would be gone), pets are allowed but they don't enforce any rules for people picking up their dog ***. I step on dog *** all the time because it's on the sidewalks riddled all over the grass and nothing gets done. A ton of stray cats live in the complex so make sure you roll your windows up or you will find plenty of evidence cats have been in there, and some of my neighbors do drugs and deal drugs. I smell pot at least once a week walking to my apartment.Security is a joke, the crime rate is so high yet you would think they would have cameras installed.

Due to all the crime I've had to deal with i wanted out of my lease so i can move and it took 3 weeks of constant calling to finally get an answer for that and they won't allow me to move. I am stuck here or pay a ridiculous fee to move. I've lived here for 1 1/2 years so far, never been late on rent and been a good tenant, but would not allow me to move somewhere safer for my family to be because of the crime i have to deal with. I've never had to file a police report before because of where i lived and since i lived here I've filed multiple police reports from all the sleezy *** bags that live there and visit there.

All too often i come home from work and someone is parked in our covered parking stall because the parking is so bad people are too lazy to walk up the hill to visit other tenants. The parking is a joke unless you live on the south end of the complex. It's almost like the apartment building i am in was an afterthought with no room for parking. So i have to park so far away from my apartment building it takes me at least 2 minute walk to get to my car. The days i have multiple loads of groceries to carry in it's a pain because of the distance i have to travel up or down hill to get to my car.

If you plan on leaving on a weekend and come back late the parking lot is usually packed and no where to park, i've had to wait 40 minutes some days sitting in my car wiating for a parking spot to open up.The cost of living in this place i would expect a lot better stay.

Paying over $820 a month (minus power bill) for a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment that's a hike from the parking lot, dealing with a ton of crime and a staff that procrastinates to get stuff done is plain and simply a joke. I would not recommend anyone to live here, i personally cannot wait till my lease is up so i can move.
