Miles Green Garage Reviews

My wife recently had a bad experience with Miles Green Garage Heathcote Road Stoke-On-Trent. I work offshore so when our 2007 Ford Focus failed to start in the mornings and needed jump starting it was up to my wife to take it to a local garage to find out what was wrong. She took it to Miles Green Garage who told her the alternator was faulty and would need replacing. They quoted her £300 and said it would be a genuine Ford part. They also said the timing belt was worn and needed replacing especially as the car was approaching 70,000 miles. They said they would replace the belt and the alternator for £800 or £750 for cash. Unsure what to do, and unable to contact me she agreed to have the alternator replaced and would return to have the timing belt done once I was back home. They told her that the belt could snap any time now and would blow the engine. Again, she said she'd wait but they said she was a fool risking a new engine for the sake of a few hundred pounds and it would end up costing thousands. In spite of their pressure tactics she stood her ground and told them to replace only the alternator. The alternator was replaced and my wife emailed me that evening telling how the car needed a new belt and how they had made her feel uncomfortable and tried to badger her into having the work done there and then. I was furious as I knew the timing belt had been replaced during its last service 9 months earlier but to be on the safe side I told her to take the car back to Bristol Street Ford Main Dealer to get it checked as they conducted the last service and replaced the belt. They confirmed the belt was in perfect condition and probably wouldn't need replacing for at least another 50,000 miles. They also pointed out that the alternator wasn't a genuine Ford part but would do the job. I am totally dissatisfied with Miles Green Garage and would ask if anyone else has had a similar experience with them.
