Verified ReviewerWorst customer service and incorrect accusations about me to another individual
- - An exchange charged the wrong card.
- - The agent repeated digits.
- - Friend was told I used his card.
- - Complaints filed; evidence exists.
I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever dealt with through 'midwestboots.com,' and I have text message proof documenting everything. A friend purchased a pair of boots for me through their website using my phone.
The boots were delivered to me, but they did not fit correctly, so I returned them for an exchange with the proper exchange paperwork requesting a different size. After returning the boots, I personally called Midwest Boots customer service and gave them my own debit card number over the phone to pay the price difference for the replacement pair. The representative repeated my card number back to me digit by digit while entering it. About 10 minutes after the phone call, my friend contacted me furious and accusing me of trying to use his debit card without permission.
Midwest Boots customer service had contacted him and falsely told him that I used his debit card information for the exchange purchase. This caused a major personal conflict and seriously damaged a longtime friendship. When I contacted Midwest Boots to explain they had made a mistake, they argued with me through text messages and continued insisting I used my friend's card. I repeatedly told them I had given them my own debit card information over the phone.
At one point, I requested the phone recording of the conversation where I provided my debit card number, but they ignored my request. Then I remembered I had made the phone call from my work truck, which has cameras installed. After I informed Midwest Boots that I could request the footage from my employer, their representative finally admitted through text message that they had made the mistake and accidentally charged the card already on file instead of the debit card number I provided during the call. Because of Midwest Boots contacting my friend and incorrectly accusing me of using his card, he canceled the order.
Midwest Boots refunded him and refused to send me the replacement boots, even after admitting their mistake. The boots had already been delivered to me originally and were returned only for an exchange of size. Due to Midwest Boots' admitted payment error and false accusations, I ended up without the boots, without the replacement pair, and with serious personal damage caused by their actions. I filed complaints with the BBB and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.
Midwest Boots responded by claiming they owed me nothing because they refunded the original purchaser, despite admitting they caused the entire situation by charging the wrong card themselves.
I still have: - text messages admitting their mistake - records of the exchange - complaint filings - communication records - and evidence supporting everything stated here. I am sharing my experience publicly so other customers can be aware of how this situation was handled.
User's recommendation: Very strongly Do not recommend !!
