Fraud,Scammer Movers!

When first contacting the movers we were a little skeptical about how our furniture would be treated due to having delicate and expensive things. The man on the phone whose name was Maurice was reassuring us that things like our couch which is suede all the way around would be wrapped in blankets and than wrapped again on top of that. Also we had mentioned we had large expensive televisions, he once again told us everything is delicately wrapped and handled. He went on to mention that they do back round checks on all employees and that their movers are 100% quality.

On Sept 2, 2011, the day of moving they didn't arrive in my apartment until 9:25am which was almost a half an hour after they had planned. From there I met with the main mover John and we agreed on insurance of 15000 coverage, which was an additional $105 added to my bill. My fiance couldn't be around the whole day and I couldn't be around for a few hours when they moved things out of the old apartment. We had a family member at our old apartment until I could return. I think they took advantage of that immediately and did not do anything Maurice had stated, such as blankets being wrapped around delicate things and so forth. I arrived back just as they were finishing up at the 1st place at 12:30pm. It took them 5 hours to move out of the 1st apartment and arrive at the new. They took until 1:30pm to arrive at the new house which is a 5 min drive down the street. I called the company because the movers were not answering to be found after leaving the old apartment. The company didn't call back for 15 min, within that time they couldn't reach them as well. They informed me they were on their way and would be at the new apartment soon. Where were they for an entire hour if they left my old place at 12:30 and didn't arrive until 1:30pm???

As I saw them moving my things to my new place I saw that everything, and I do mean everything was only wrapped in thin thin wrap. No blankets, no cushion for anything. They started to *** the wrap and I started noticing scratches and gauges in things. It than started to get worse and they were bringing in things that were completely broken. My dressers backing was broken, my 55" Sony Bravia TV was shattered in the middle, 3 of my lamps were either ripped or broken in half, wall pictures were either scratched or completely broken at the frames. As I was complaining they looked at me like I was over exaggerating. John than told me after everything was finished I can show him the damages and he would write a list.

They didn't put my bed together stating that they didn't have time, which is something that was agreed upon at the time they gave me the quoted price for moving. When they were finished John never wanted to even look at the damages of my things. He told me that it wasn't his job and that I needed to contact insurance claim. He than went over my bill which was double of what was quoted on the phone $1405 instead of 700!! I told him he is not getting anything from me and that it was not my fault that with 4 men they took so long in moving my furniture. I also asked why I had to pay for the hour they were missing and he stated he was still loading things into the truck at the old apartment. He than stated that if I don't pay that I will not get my insurance and my things that were damaged would not be replaced. I gave him the money and he left.

20 minutes later two of the movers came back to my house knocked on my door, stated that they forgot "tools" or some "tool bag". One wanted me to walk all the way with him down my hallway to the Master bed to help him find them, as he stated "help me so you don't think I am going to steal anything". Meanwhile the other older gentleman was standing in my hallway. After not really looking for tools the one distracting me stated that maybe they were left at the last apartment, so they left with nothing in their hands. I didn't think anything of this because like I was told their movers were great employees. A while later I had discovered my money missing from my purse that was in the kitchen cabinet. I couldn't figure out who did it because no one was in the house. Than I remembered them coming back and after thinking about it, knowing that the whole missing tools was a distraction to take my money which they had an idea I had because earlier I had to pull money out of my purse to pay the double John charged me for the moving! They stole $6000 that I had been carrying with me to put down on a car the following day. I than phoned John and told him to return my money or I will go to the police. To this day I have not received a phone call back. I also have tried the company several times and never received a call. Every time I get someone on the phone the person I need to speak to is either not in or away from their desk.

I had my building management pull up the camera footage catching the 2 movers at my house after 4:30pm which is when they were finished (on the receipt provided for me it states that they were finished moving me in at 4:30pm) and on camera leaving my house with no tools around 5pm. Management can not supply me with the footage but Security that was was working that evening stated that they will attest to seeing the movers coming back after they were finished with the job and leaving with no tools that they claimed they had lost. I in turn called Midwest movers to talk to management but on one answered and there is no voicemail system… to this day no one has returned my calls from the company.

After I started unpacking my house I than started to notice things were missing. A camera with the lens, a mac book pro, my propane gas on my grill. I also started to notice more things damaged. At this point I went to the police filed a report and got a lawyer involved.

I have tried to get in contact with anybody from the company and no one ever returns my calls. The only person that I have had contact with is Diane in insurance claims and she only writes emails. She never accepts my calls. My lawyer has been in contact with the company several times. At first the owner Luis A. Toledo, who only called my lawyer back because he was receiving messages from him and a detective didn't want any problems and stated that he was going to reimburse us for the damage, stolen items, and stolen money. As time has gone on he has not been answering any of my attorneys phone calls, I am assuming this is a sign of not doing as he had promised. I have since filed an insurance claim to their company by mailing a certified letter of the entire list of damages, receipts and damaged pictures to the company on 9/14/11. The certified letter went to them on 9/17/11 and no one was there to sign for it. So they will not have excuses anymore I than had to fax them my entire insurance claim twice.

On September 26, 2011 Diane than wrote me another email finally letting me know that she received my claim, but she is now stating that this is no longer her problem because my claim has changed so much (I have sent them the same paperwork 3 times I do not know what has changed). She than went on to state that she forwarded my claim over to the moving company's insurance company because my problem is not insurance it is a valuation claim. I don't understand what she is talking about due to the fact that she works in the insurance claims department for the moving company and that she is the one who sent the paperwork to fill out for the claim and was the person I was told to work with in the letter. Also in the same letter she told us to leave everything as is so that they can do an inspection. So, I have not got my house to the way I would like because of the damages that I am not allowed to replace of try to fix until the inspection.

To this day they still have not started my insurance claim and have been giving me the run around for over 2 weeks now. I also have informed them several times of my police report, which is number HT-481604. Detective Lynch has tried several times to contact them since September 9, 2011 and she has just now stated that she has gotten back to him which is September 26, 2011.
