Worst service and diner. Things have not gotten better in all these years.

Owner is argumentative. She complains about the costumers in ear shot and argues. They cant cook a propper poached egg and argue that the yoke should be hard. We ordered th homemade hash and got canned. They charged for homemade but claimed we didnt specify. Staff takes no responcibility in serving tables or getting the order right.

Dont waste your time!

Just went to this place and it was great! You clearly know nothing about food.

First of all you boil poached eggs and not cook them which makes the center of the yoke hard. ***

Mid Island Diner worst food & service!!!!

Mid Island Diner in Middle Island NY opened a few weeks ago. My husband & I went for Sunday breakfast (since it seemed to always be busy).

The owners were there. The woman owner told us "Go sit over there" she pointed and did not take us to our seat. The place was full. There was a large table of guests by the door and when the waitress served their food, someone in the party must have said something to her and her reply was " I don't cook the food".

We placed our order Blueberry Pancakes & well done Bacon with "real" butter...2 over med eggs bacon well done homefries and rye toast. We waited awhile for the food. Eggs were over easy and yolk was cold...wheat toast...homefries raw and a rotted piece. Blueberry pancakes with hardly any blueberries....raw in middle...no "real Butter".

Waitress returned pancakes. Waited awhile again. The bacon was not cooked sitting on top of pancakes.So I told the waitress it was not her fault (we gave her a tip still) So we just paid for 1 meal and coffee. The woman owners reply was "You can't please everyone".

No I'm sorry..nothing. My first order of pancakes had pieces of ff on them. So if the fried the bacon they use the same grease? What about people who can't eat bacon?

The table next to use also had a problem. When we first entered some said the omelet was terrible and there was hair in their food. But we still tried to see for ourselves.....the worst way to run a restaurant I have ever seen the owners take no responsibility for their customers. They need them or they have no business.

If you don't know how to run a restaurant then you have no business doing so. Plus the owners should go to manager school to learn the proper etiquette.

Apparently Suzee60 has a personal vendetta because her negative remarks come out of left field. As my Wife and I have dined here many times since it's Grand Opening and have yet to experience or witness the outrageous accusation put forth by Suzee60.

Additionally, Having known Nitza for nearly 3 years I've NEVER observed her being rude but just opposite. I shall continue to patronize this establishment and would be the first to report of my dissatisfaction but until then I'll look forward to the family environment, good food and excellent service for myself and my family.

I happpent o agree about the food not the service.The food tasted like dirty kitchen water.Over easy eggs, homefries,sausage w/ toast. It was as if the heat from the food pulled the dirty soapy tatse off the plates!

I have not been back since.And,Im all in support of going to local business! I too see how many people go there and I say to myself those people have no taste buds. So many owners have tried and failed there. This establishment seems to have held up the longest and Ive been very curious I live within walking distance why its held up and I do notice alot of the same vehicles there on Sunday a.m.

and thats the only time you see alot of vehicles. Good luck to anyone that wants to experience it but, I'll keep my $5+ plate and make my own delicious breakfast!

I'm truly sorry that someone could be so dissatisfied with the great food and prices that this diner has!!! I could see a few weeks getting out the kinks,which anyone could expect,but for the owners, as Im well aware of, they both have over 20yrs experience in the business(ownerships).

I think they did a great job on the interior(totally redone)and I think the food and service was great. I would definitely recommend this place!!!

My husband knows that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and to me Friendly home fries are just pieces of fried potatoes (I want the real thing). For my birthday last month we decided to give the new diner a try because we had heard so many good things about the owner's other locations and we were NOT disappointed.

I consider myself a breakfast expert because I know what I like and if I say that these were the BEST pancakes I ever had it would be an understatement!! We also had eggs, sausages, home fries and toast and we could not finish they serve you soooo much!! Of course with any new business there are kinks to be worked out but I found the owner and his wife to be very welcoming and friendly.

I have been back and the gyros and philly cheesesteaks are excellent as well. This is a must visit diner with great prices.

I'd have to say the total opposite as Alicia. The food is GREAT.

I've never eatten anything better! but the employees SUCK! A bunch of kids who don't know how to waitress and the older ones seem like they are full of themselves. I notice the older employees giving the younger ones dirty looks too like they are better than them...

I've also seen the owners yell at their employes for silly mistakes but really YELL.

To the point where these kids almost want to cry. Don't you know a happy employee who wants to come in to work and have a good day makes a restaurant better?

The place could use a good cleaning and carpet cleaned. Owners wife very argumentive and she complains about things to customers over and over.

God for bid a server makes a mistake, everyone hears about it. So down grading to people that work for them.

My friends and I often eat lunch here after playing golf at Middle Island CC. We have always been well pleased with the food and service.

the owner is a nasty person with NO personality. she's rude and does not care about the customers.

i notice she will be nice with most of the customers (i work in the same plaza so i know the people that walk in there) but shes only nice to them because they go there almost everyday so its more money in her pocket. the place has good french fries and that is about it. sat down there a few times and noticed little cockroaches.

i would rather eat at the chinese restaurant a few stores over and that place is a dump but they treat you more nicely. DO NOT EAT HERE.

I’ve been a consistent customer since the new owners have taken over and have seen major transformations take place since last year. They are philanthropists who are constantly giving back to the community.

With over 30 years experience they have transformed the Diner experience introducing meals that would be found in upscale restaurants.

In an effort to provide better customer service I have seen them change all employees (chefs and waitstaff). It’s ironic that the timing of the negative posts below occurred when multiple FORMER EMPLOYEES who were not up to par were let go; and unfortunately we have to witness the immaturity of petty retaliatory lies.

I'm currently pregnant and I have been craving chocolate chip pancakes. I went to the Mid Island diner to quickly fulfill my craving.

They were so good! I love that the cook makes a silver dollar pancake on top of your regular pancakes. :) I also had a side of bacon that really hit the spot.

I appreciate the quick service because I was very hungry. thanks!

It's called being a boss and no one ever likes there boss. People are quick to judge over glimpses of conversations that they overhear without understanding the full back story or possibly know the many chances that a staff might have had in the past as well as the monetary impact.

This is one of the best diners in Long Island! I go every weekend with my family and we are always treated with the highest level of dining service
