Horrible customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On 3/23 my wife went to do a return , basically returning a gaming labtop that I purchased from microcenter . I have indeed purchased 4 labtops within the last 30 days , and have exchanged them either due to thermals , performance not what it was advertised or reviewed or defective unit .

Last purchase was a msi Titan 18hx , when spending 5k on gaming labtop , which is a very expensive investment you have to be 100 percent about the product your buying . My biggest concern today isnt the fact they were upset because I swapped the device , my two major concerns are one the way the General manager approached her asking her what happened ?? And his tone and his approach , he stated that he wouldnt be able to do any more returns due his loss of money from a financial side , which we did anyways because it was within the return period , as a general manager he should have greeted her first asked what is the reason her husband keeps returning labtops , as a leader running his building where all his associates are watching him and how he offers customer service in a time where every dollar spent could be detrimental to his business survival he actually doesnt care . I hope this review reaches as many people as possible to understand that customer service and how you are treated is very important because people now have options , and where to shop .

Their listed specs dont match what their vendors send them and that is a problem . For example the MSI titan was advertised and listed that it will run the 64 Gig ram configuration at 5600MHZ which it doesnt not . Out the box it runs at 4000MHZ and once you manually set the timings to anything above 5200 it becomes unstable and crashes . That isnt the consumer fault thats their fault .

Also their open box items are stated that they are open box , meaning that a customer purchased them and returned them which now is an open box which isnt the case for their open box policy . Their open box could mean they opened the unit for repair , or faulty screen which in that case should be listed as refurbished or reconditioned .

Im already in touch with with their corporate office and will be also filing a BBB complaint against this location for how they treated my wife . This is by far the most poor service I have ever acknowledged in my entire retail career .

Sponsorship inquiry

I asked Chicago Microcenter manager how to get in touch with corporate to sponsor my Youtube channel. He said to call the phone number listed on website for support. I do not see any support phone number and it even says Microcenter does not place phone numbers available for people to contact. Seems to be a very intentional run around. Who and how can I reach out to corporate to sponsor any portion of my Youtube channel? Reply at techquestion@***.com

New purchase

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The person that helped me was very polite. I would have preferred to speak to someone on the phone . The team member said that in order to get the warranty I need to go into a store which is also an inconvenience. I would much rather be able to have an associate process through the phone or I could buy online.

3d printer coupon?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Customer Service said 1) coupons for 3d printers *only* on social media feed 2) *only* for NEW customers 3) OR *only* with email account, which is DIFFERENT than the account at the cash register I'm 69 years old. People who bought from you recommended I request a coupon around Black Friday time toward my Christmas present.

Racist bigots

Shopped at denver's microcenter for 15 years and I never experienced profiling and racism as what i experienced few days ago. The bigoted dumb security guard was literally standing behind me watching the transaction! And I mean literally standing behind me at the counter! I will never shop there again and get humiliated and profiled! It's 2018 not 1955!

Refuse to honor warranty, guarantee, and their promise to refund.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought an open box laptop from this company. I was careful to confirm that the 90 day warranty would be upheld, as there were scratches around the power port from the person who originally purchased the item.

The power port failed six weeks after purchase, and the company promised to fix or replace it.

I went in, waited in line for over an hour, then was told that they would not be honoring the warranty.

I left a review describing this issue, and was contacted and promised a full refund. Then it turned into a gift card. Then it turned into a decision NOT to honor their promise to refund, or even provide a gift card- they went back to just not honoring the warranty at all.

This company wasted WEEKS of my time, and failed to honor any of their guarantees.

They are not trying to keep customers, they are churning. This is made clear by the reviews on their Better Business Bureau listing- Micro Center routinely pulls this on customers.

I can vouch for this issue as my own experience corroborates this bait and switch tactic micro center uses when it comes to honoring their contracts with consumers. I suspect given the size and regularity of these events that MC will be paying settlements as soon as a case is brought against them by a sizeable enough legal team to get the job done. It's blatant and the amount of money is high enough that the legal pressure will eventually cook them I recommend keeping all of these records for that day when it comes.

When I buy a warranty and after its 1 year, the associates want to test it out which doesnt make any sense as we have dicta broken and need a quick fix. No questions asked giftcard is what they promise and needs to be delivered. It took a lot to get products exchanged after discussing

Took 3 company computers into the service department in Houston Texas.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I took 3 company computers into the service department in Houston Texas. I needed for MicroCenter to remove the 2 hard drives (which both where a piggy backed drive = D drives) and install them into the 3rd computer as a D and E drive.

It was a simple operation. I had 2 SSD hard drives in 2 computers that I wanted to have removed. So, I wanted them to remove each hard drive from that computer and put them into the 3rd computer. That way I would have 3 hard drives in one computer ( drives D and E).

Sounds simple enough. It was so simple they gave it to the new guy they just had added to there service team. The manager met me and assured me they would get it done asap. So I returned on the day they wanted to return the machines and when I got there, they had everything installed and nothing was working.

The newby couldn't get the CPU to see the 2 added SSD drives. He messed around with it while I was there. He had the other machines ready to give back to me. I had him remove the cover and he had taken out the C drives and the intel chips and the ram chips of CPU 2 and 3.

I was pissed. The F(**&KER had gutted the company machines. He acted like he didn't understand what he had done and immediately said he would put them back. I watched him go back to his desk and bring back a small box full of parts he had stripped from 2 and 3.

It was a F^&*KEN disaster. He started putting the parts back into the machines at the service counter. He couldn't get CPU 1 working. I contacted the Manager and he talked to the Newby and said he would have to get with the top service tech when he returned from somewhere, i don't remember.

I was busy and returned in about 10 days because MicroCenter wasn't answering my texts and internet request for answers or even my voice messages. The manager hadn't done anything. The machine was still in the Que. I was pissed.

The manager indicated he would get his best tech on the job and the next day (now about 3 weeks) I get a call from the tech and they indicated that my C drive on computer 1 would have to be flashed and reinstall and all my programs would have to be reinstalled. The programs and files would have to be downloaded to my desktop file as "files on my computer folder" and the 2 SSD hard drives weren't going to work like before because the drive names were different. BLA BLA BLA...just a bunch of S&*(T!! That he needed a week to get it done because there were a lot of programs and files on those SSD drives.

He texted me when it was ready. I called and said I was on my way to talk and pick up my machine. When I got to the service department I waited for an hour in line. Then they pulled up a cart with my CPU in it.

He turned on the machine and showed my the C and D and E drives. and the file with all my programs and files on the desktop and said sorry you don't have to pay anything. So. I was so let down what they had done to my business machine CPU's 1,2 and 3.

I just wanted to get it home and away from that *** HOLE! ... So when I got back to my office and started up CPU1 it had a new Microsoft windows 10 on it and some files on the desktop and that was it besides the file on the desktop. What a disaster!

I could go on but it gets worse....they didn't copy all my business files over.

I lost Thousands and Thousand of business photo records and it took me about 3 weeks to get the programs back on board. I still look for photo files in archived folders that don't have but a few photos when there where hundreds and hundreds.

Resolved: Computer Catastrophe

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. I want to give you the complete process that I used to get my refund and someone at PISSED OFF CUSTOMER developed a reply maximum that after i had posted a reply, said it was too long!.

Updated by user Dec 20, 2021

Well, today 12/20/2021, I received a full refund of $154.95 from Micro Center in Paterson, NJ. Thank you for your help and support in resolving this matter!

Original review Dec 01, 2021
I brought my HP Pavilion laptop into Micro Center on Saturday 11/20 for an increase to my RAM from 6 to 8 GB.. The receptionist said that they would have to do a scan of the laptop to determine if my laptop had any other issues that may need to be addressed.
On Sunday, 11/21, I received a call from Micro repair technician, Henry, who was doing the backup.

Later that same day, Henry recalled me and said he finished the backup but was having difficulty with the computer.
I asked him why since the laptop had no issues running operationally when I took it in to their facility. He then said that when he turned it on after the backup finished, it would start up and shut off almost immediately. He then added that he could not repair the RAM since the laptop was not operational anymore. He could not tell me what happened to my fully operational laptop.

Not only that, but he said I could pick up the laptop. My laptop was totally destroyed at Micro.
Since then, I have received e-mails from Wahli Caleb SimsBridgewater; and G. Le'Kisha all from Micro Center in Paterson, NJ. Collectively, nothing happened after their initial correspondence.

Finally on Wednesday, 11/24 at 11:50 AM, I received a call from the Micro Service Manager, Tony.

I explained to him the details of what had taken place to date and he said he would have another technician look at my laptop, which was still in their possession, to find out why it would not start and has become totally disabled from any operation. As of today, Wednesday, December 1, I have not heard anything further from the Service Manager, Stay Beware Tony or anyone else at the Micro Center in Paterson, NJ

I dropped off hard drives to have files pulled and placed on a new hard drive. They recycled my hard drives without contacting me at all. After noticing it was taking them just as long to repair my hard drives as it took for them to repair my laptop, with NO contact. I reached out to microcenter and they told me, oh we recycled them. But never contacted me. Not even to tell me they couldn't pull the information of the drives.

Apple Tech at Pikesville Store Maryland Bait and Switch

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I happily bought the advertised New and Refurbished 2017 MacBook Air yesterday Cyber Monday 11/29/21

The hinge on the MacBook Air is loose and flimsy.

Apple recommends tightening or replacing hinge.

Corporate Microcenter Set up my Tech appointment at Microcenter in Pikesville Md tonight 11/30/21

So I drove another 55 minutes one way to the store.

When I got to the store and talked with the Apple Tech he decided that my warranty

which is advertised as 90 Days Parts and Labor

is not a warranty and

decided to be very dismissive to me

and decided to tell me that if

I want to return the computer and get my money back to do so

that they cannot replace it, and they have none of the same item left to give me as replacement.

I have been purchasing from Microcenter for over 20 years.

This is the first NEGATIVE interaction I have received. In fact, other than Best Buy's lousy service, this is the worse customer service and satisfaction experience I have had with a retail store in a very long time. Microcenters advertisement that Customer Satisfaction is Job # 1 is ***
