I went on the website to book a reservation for 3/23/24 for a 1-night stay at the hotel and accidentally booked for 2 days instead of one. I'm leaving for a cruise on 3/24-3/28 and only needed the 1-night stay with a next-day check-out.
After contacting the hotel, I was told they could not change the reservation and asked if I wanted to cancel because there was no revising the date(s). I informed them I didn't want the money back; I just needed to check in for 1 night (3/23/24), and I could use the other night for Friday, 3/28, after returning from my cruise.
However, they would not work with me at all. Now I'm out of $713.37 and no hotel stay.
User's recommendation: Please don't book online with this hotel.

How is your loss $700+? Online shows $196/night.
It sounds like you were on a third party site.
Room 77 and hotel planner are the first two google entries. The hotel itself has free cancellation.
They don't have a 48 hour window to cancel? That's some real BS right there.
I have friends who work in the hotel industry and they all work at properties with a 48 hour window, some with a 24 hour window. Or, did you by chance book nonrefundable? Being at the airport, its not like that room would go unsold.
I honestly think they should refund you and I would try to contest the charge with my bank. If you booked nonrefundable though, you won't have a chance.
