Merlin Project - immature & offensive sales
I recently heard Paul Guercio, head of the Merlin Project, on George Noory's Coast to Coast AM radio show. Guercio announced he was selling the Light Force 9000 (hi-tech infrared healing device) for $79.95 w/ free shipping and other goodies. Seeing as how I usually hurt like *** because of a bad back, arthritis etc, I ordered one around Sept 10 or 11 via the website http://www.accessbest.com/merlin/default. After a couple of days, the money swiftly out of my bank account but with no confirmation of purchase email from Merlin-Guercio I wrote inquiring as to ship date. The incredible lack of customer care, the gall of them... well, read for yourself: ME: 9/18 6:16 PM. I recently purchased a Lightforce 9000 .... I have not received an estimated shipping date. Could you please update me on this information? Most anxious to begin using the product. MP 9/18 6:23 PM We received thousands of inquiries and over a thousand actual orders. It will take us 4 to 6 weeks to get them all out the door in the order in which payments were made. I cannot give you a shipping date or tracking number until it is actually shipped. Then, it should take 3 to 5 days to reach you by Priorty Mail or UPS. Please, it's been barely a week. A little patience. ME: 9/19 6:09 AM. Please cancel this order. Thanks. MP: 9/20 We got thousands of orders by date and time not alphabetical. Could you tell us when you placed it and why you are cancelling. [Not alphabetical? Starting to sound like a one man shop using Windows 95.] ME: 9/20 11:04 AM the payment complete date looks like Sept 13 so I may have placed the order with you on the 12th. Canceling order because I've found the product on sale for less and perhaps most important I do not want to wait 4 to 6 weeks or so to receive the product; Amazon has spoiled me. [FYI: nowhere on the website order page does it say or even approximate, "You'll have to wait 5 to 6 weeks to get this order."] MP: 9/20 11:17 AM. Amazon is not including over $60 worth of freebies including a $12 book, (2) CD's worth $30, a DVD worth $15 and FREE SHIPPING. ME: 9/20 11:19 AM Not buying from Amazon, only a 'for example.' But I really don't want to wait so long for the product. My wife and I both hurt, thanks for our increasing age, and we want to start using the LF9000 ASAP. MP: 9/20 11:27 AM I hope you get a servicable one! Amerimark is selling clearance units that are often dusty and dirty. ...We're selling the only units that are obtained and shipped directly from the inventor/patent-holder. We will locate your purchase ASAP and issue a refund. ...wow, a five star service. Scare and sell. I ended up complaining via PayPal, which sends the complaint to the merchant. I sent a separate email to MP suggesting that they refund my money within 3 days. Today (9/27/08) was Day Four. I filed an unauthorized purchase complaint via PayPal and also filed a complaint with the BBB in New Hampshire. Later -this same day- I found this email from Merlin/Guercio: MP 9/27 11:30 AM Message from merchant: I trust you will find the 'clearance' item you intend on purchasing instead *without free shipping and bonus items, satisfactory. If not, don't say we didn't tell you. --The Merlin Project and Guercio is pretty amazing, on the radio, but avoid transactions with this one. Incredible: "...don't say we didn't tell you."
