Discus credit report
They promised to remove a debt if I made payments or took an offer at less than full debt. When I spoke with them they said they dont do anything with credit scores.
User's recommendation: Paying off old debts actually hurts your credit score.
Discus credit report
- - I paid 60% on two accounts and full on one after a discount; my score dropped.
- - The accounts are listed with more negative info on my report.
I was told if I pay the agreed upon discount, I paid 60% on 2 accounts and I paid one in total. So the three accounts were changed but now they include more negative info.
My score went down after paying debt.
I called them and they said that I needed toe work with the original debt people. So I phoned you and they could not These items remain on my credit report
Try not to deal with them, if possible!
I was hung up on twice, but by a supervisor named Kim.

Merchants Credit Guide - Credit Report Review
I settled my account in February and they tell me that it takes 7 years to remove it from my credit report!!! Meanwhile my score keeps getting lower!!!
Worst customer service i've ever experienced...
- - Staff refused to discuss payment options.
- - Both staff and a manager were rude and unhelpful.
I called Merchants Credit Guide to make payments on some old accounts, and the first person I talked to literally wouldn't speak with me about options. I called HER to give money to the company and she wouldn't give me any information to get the process started.
I've never heard of anything like this! Her whole job is to get money, and I wanted to pay money. She was extremely unprofessional and rude. I then called a manager to complain and she was just as rude as the first one.
Unbelievable. I get that they're dealing with angry people all day, but I called them and just wanted to pay my debts.
What an unbelievably bad experience. I can see why people would never answer their phone after dealing with these employees.
Merchants Credit Guide - Customer Care Review
- - Past due medical bills are on the credit report.
- - Says Mr. Bryant laughed and hung up.
- - Will not call again; six+ year-old bills to be removed.
I called this afternoon to discuss some past due medical bills on my credit report. To pay some and figure out how to take care of them.
I spoke with a Mr. Bryant. Now because I was not paying my bills in full to his advantage, not only did he laugh at me, he also hung up on me. I will never be calling again, my past due bills will be taken off my credit soon because they are 6+ years old.
I will not stop complaining about this employee and how horrible he is. I am so extremely offended and upset.
I think he is a tremendous disgrace to this company and will never ever be successful in collecting any debt with the smug horrific attitude he has. I've reported him to the BBB and will continue to do so until he takes responsibility for his actions.
Merchants Credit Guide Credit Report Review

Charge Review
I checked my credit history and i see merchants credit guide on my statement trying to steal $305 dollar's harrasing me for what i dont know these crooks
They were loud and mouthy while I explained things
- - Merchants Credit Guide is Montgomery Ward's collection agency.
- - They call loudly and are rude.
- - I emailed info to my attorney; a stop-call letter was sent.
Merchants Credit Guide is who Montgomery Ward went through as a collection agency. These people are still calling and being loud, rude and won't wait for the needed info they are asking for.
So I sent by e-mail the needed information to my attorney. Dave Ramsey of Financial Peace makes it clear we do not have to talk to these people. And since I do have a lawyer handling this they still wouldn't quit being loud and rude for me to give them the needed info she just kept asking questions that they should already have answered.
My lawyer had sent them a letter so that they would quit calling all the time.

MERCHANTS' CREDIT GUIDE CO. GUIDE TO STEALING AND INJUSTICE.
Merchants' steal your credit hater of guiding attempted to do the same to me through AT&T. See my report regarding AT&T: AT&T HAS TURNED VERY, VERY CORRUPT. AT&T still owes me money yet they bill me; turn me in to NCO portfolio mismanagement, Inc and they turn me in to Merchants' abominable not a legal company. They are leeches; hardened criminals. Never asked my side!!
Sent the standard trash 'unless you notify.. this debt to be valid'. Don't ever give them any money. They do not give an e-mail address. They are not worth a nickel of my time; much less a forty-cent postage stamp. Try, convict and place them before a firing squad! I highlighted under govt stupidity because these are not companies. They are leeches whom serve no real purpose. What's their reason to incorporate?
To produce a product or service and help society. Not a ghost of a chance. Therefore, it is braindead govt incompetency that they are permitted to exist. These criminals have no right whatsoever to your socialist insecurity number. But criminal AT&T and all the phone cos demand it, then turn it over to the mob WHEN IT IS THEIR FAULT AND YOU DO NOT OWE THEM MONEY!!!
Merchants Credit Guide is a Fraudulent Co.
- - Merchants Credit Guide (aka CFB Financial III) is fraudulent.
- - They send letters and Ken Hughes messages to collect old debts, often wrong or outdated.
Merchants Credit Guide (aka CFB Financial III) is a fraudulent cash mgmt/debt collection services co. They send letters and leave messages from a Ken Hughes (it's always Ken Hughes) claiming to collect old debts on behalf of some company.
In most cases the debts are plain wrong or are outdated. They hope that consumers who don't do their due diligence or don't know their legal rights will give them money. There are honest, reputable collection agencies out there working for companies to reclaim their owed money. MCG is not one of them.
Any company that has to resort to "fake employees" to get your attention should be a sign of this company's practices.
Harrassing phone calls for a debt that wasnt even mine.
- - I got messages and called back; Tressy answered.
- - She asked for my SSN; I declined.
- - The bill wasn't mine; she disclosed the SSN.
I was getting messages from this company so I returned the calls the lady Tressy that answered was very nasty to speak to she asked me to verify my ss# when I wouldnt she got much more unpleasant and hung up on me. I called back come to find out the bill wasnt even mine and she rattled the ss# off to me that she had on the account and said I dont know how this phone number got on this account. What ever happened to kill em with kindness this lady was every thing but kind I never asked to be treated this way for another persons debt.

Yes, bill should be paid. Bad attitudes from the collectors does not get the bill paid.
The collectors calling are just having fun in making the customer angry.
I wouldn't listen to them be stupid. If it is a business use a business approach when calling a customer regardless of the situation.
Are you kidding? You didn't pay your bills.
It went to collection.
Collection agencies are jerks but you wouldn't be dealing with one if you had paid your bills or at least made arrangements to get on a payment plan. Love how you take responsibility for this by saying "So what, they'll be off my credit report soon enough."
listen to the jerk, if everyone could pay their bills, I'm sure they would. you're one of those idiots or nerdy people, who no one wants to be bother with.
