Best example of what not to do to customers as a business
I have lived in the area for most of my life and since the age of 18 have frequented mega sports. I promise you will find better customer service just about anywhere else. They are nicer and less discriminative at the dmv, any dmv. My most recent venture to this establishment involved calling them to see if they take trade ins, after being informed that the specific make and model of two of my firearms would warrant trade value by an associate over the phone which ending in “ bring them in so we can take a look at what you’ve got in total and you’ll receive X amount of credit”. I did just that, I took the morning of my day off, packed up all the original gear and packaging I still had with my firearms and drove to mega sports where the manager even after sharing my previous phone conversation ended my short lived trip with “ we probably wouldn’t be interested”.
Ok,I thought, incredibly unprofessional, he didn’t even want me to bring them in, he didn’t even want to consider what I would be trading in for. But whatever, not gonna ruin my day.
Later I sold both for twice as much as they offered for trade( blessing in disguise right ) so now that I have the money for my old firearms I go back and try to negotiate a better price for the pistol I am looking to get. Same *** hole manager won’t match the price( I was asking for about $525 out the door which was the exact quote I was given by a shop 40 minutes north of me. ) he wouldn’t go any lower than $540.
Whatever , right?, gonna cost as much in gas to go to the other place so I said fine let’s do it.
Hand the kid working there my license and foid card, now to be fair I recently moved and my current address on my license is my new address the foid still has my immediately previous address. ( it was updated with the state and I am currently just waiting for a new one to show up in the mail) the kid says store policy prevents sales to any foid card holder with a different address on a drivers license. I stated that as there are no federal state or local laws or statutes preventing the sale of a firearm based off this clerical discrepancy. He goes back to the same manager and comes back says to me “ sorry it seems they are going to stick to their we don’t want your business strategy”. As I am leaving, for the first time in 20 years of dealing with mega sports, that same manager, who basically told me to go F myself three times in one day, actually smiled at me as I stared him down walking out cash in hand, he £#cking smiled.
I am pretty damn sure I am his favorite customer because I’ve seen that man in that store at least 90% of the time I have entered that store and I can not remember him smiling at a single soul in the last 20 years. But he smiled at me.
While this establishment is well stocked I promise it will be less hassle and a far more pleasant experience simply going ANYWHERE else for your firearms needs.
In conclusion I left there and went and purchased my firearm from a very very nice dealer in Naperville up off Ogden ave. I also had significant help from a dealer out in yorkville, those two dealers are a bit of travel but I promise well worth it ( I did not place business names in this negative review on purpose. I don’t wish anyone to be associated or even compared to a s#!thole like mega sports.
Really in love with themselves
Terrible place, these guys really think they are the gods of guns. Nothing but attitude and bad service. Go to Rinks or Point Blank they know what they are doing.
This place sucks
I avoid this place like the plague they are a bunch of jagbags never going back in there
If your gonna *** about sweat in my eyes turn on the AC!
Took my friend to the range and it was hotter than *** in it. (05/26/16) and I turned from the range booths to wipe the sweat from my glasses and this little gerbil of a man gets on the PA screaming- yes screaming "IF you take you glasses off I'm throwing you out" Well I can't see as they were sweated over and I just had eye surgery which I informed them and I had to dial in two race gun red-dots and it's hard enough without sweating....
For what they charge #1 I was away from station, #2 I was clear and away from my firearms... I guess this guy has "little man complex" something fierce I will never step back in there and Mark can go bankrupt for all I care.... Customer service ring any bells- and you wonder why everyone posts horrid but accurate negative feedback- your *** off employees are a reflection upon you....
I'll sweat at Rinks without the drama....... Last time I will ever step foot in that business...
- Leaving
- Personel attitude belligerent abusive

My wife and myself went there to purchase her a conceal carry Ruger LCP 380. She was at the counter ans i had to take a ***.
I went to the jon,i asked her to see if they had a houge grip for mine at home. I get out of the toilet, she's by the register waiting, i said your getting it ,kool, she tells me that the the guy said the grip doesn't extend the handle but he showed her a magazine (7rd) that does. I said i know that, i asked the guy if he could get me the grip,he goes to get it,i also asked if I could check out the magazine. He tells me he needs,to see my F.O.I.D.
CARD, no problem im 49 and had one since i was 21,also showed my conceal carry license for Utah. I get the grip and said ill take it,i looked at th $40.00 magazine and said she doesn't need that at this time,i would just put pierce magazine extension on. He says im not going to be able to sell you the gun because there's a cloud of my wife buying it for me. I asked for the manager.
20 minutes later this little guy comes out and walked to me. I told him what just happened, i showed him my and my wifes cradententals, he said that my wife appears to be buying the firearm for me and he isn't going to sell it to her. I said, are you that ***, if I wanted that gun,i would've bought it for my self. He got rude, and told me that she's lying.
NOBODY EVER INSULTS MY WIFE! I told him to go f#$!k himself, he should grow a beard because he looks like a ***,insult my wife ***$! $e, and f$!@k the trouble causing jack$! $ f behind the counter.

WWW.RANGEAT355.COM, try them out, they don't treat you like a piece of trash, they do not act like there better than you, and there isn't any clouds over anyone's head. Mega Sports - Xd-S Handgun Review from Lemont, Illinois
I went there a few nights ago, two hours before closing. I was looking for an XDS.
Found the one I want. The manager came over, I inspected the XDS and thanked him and walked around the store for 5 min. I went back to him and told him I would like to purchase the gun. He rolled is eyes and seemed pissed.
So I asked him to hold it for me I will be back the next day. I got home found the same gun online for $400 delivered and a $25 transfer from a FFL total $425. Mega sports was $599 plus tax and $5 background check fee. I guess my money isn't good enough for them.
I went elsewhere and saved a lot. I won't go there anymore
Mega Sports - Firearm Review from Fort Wayne, Indiana
Its not a racial, they gave me the same treatment about a year ago. I am a mid 30'S "White Male", that has purchased firearms there before without any issues while living in cook county.
And an assult rifle at that. About a year ago I went in to purchase a firearm and was told that they didnt feel safe making a sale to me.
I asked why and he repeated himself, I explained to him that i will let all my family, friends, & all of facebook know they shouldnt feel safe purchasing anything from such a shady business where now you are treated like the criminal. Spend your money at Gat or Cabelas where they understand customer service, and the 2nd admendment.
Mega Sports - Wrong Web Site Information Review from Morley, Michigan
Went to Mega Sports to use the range with my wife. My wife has no experience with firearms and that is why we went.
I have 15 years shooting exp. I hunt, I have my carry and conceal and have pistol training. Please note on the web site it says that all you need is a valid foid and to be 18 yrs old. My wife has both.
Then they say she can't shoot because she has no exp and that she needs to work with one of their instructors. All I saw was them trying to milk more money out of us . I'm just as good as any instructor if not better.
If that is the policy then post it have a sign out there. I will never go shooting there again
JIM CROW in 2013
I went to this store a week before, shopping around for prices. At the time, the line was REALLY long and I had to wait at least 20 minutes to speak to a salesman. All the other customers were pointed to the direction of their desired purchases. However, when it was my turn, the guy says, "Ill meet you there", I asked "Where?" and he says "You don' t know where they are?!". I was thrown off by the rudeness, but explained that it was my first time in the store, and he said "Oh". This week, I went in to purchase since another store was out of stock. I was given the third degree by the salesman and had to explain to him my reason for purchasing a firearm; as I am a young, single, woman who recently purchased a home and wanted to purchase for home safety. I also had to tell him about my experiences in a different gun range and why I felt comfortable purchasing the firearm I chose. However, this wasn't enough for him and I didn't understand why. He then went on to ask me a million different questions and the way he spoke and looked at sent me into a humiliated mood! Like the week before, I was the only African American in there, but thought nothing of it until I began to get this treatment. He went on to say "No", after asking him why, he said "I don't feel safe". I still did not understand since I have a valid FOID card that I received early last year, preparing for home ownership and have had practice with experienced shooters in gun ranges. After asking for a manager and a better explanation for why he refused to give me service, he just repeated, "I just don't feel safe". I didn't know if it was because I was female, Black, or both, but I felt extremely humiliated and discrimated against, as the other (White) customers weren't treated and spoke to as such. My worst experience EVER in a store! Unbelievable...
