  • - Completed the course, but Medix lost all my information; my name wasn't on the national registry, and I had to redo clinicals and reorder transcripts.

Completed the course but when i went to take national registry my name wasnt on the list Medix had lost all my information. High school transcripts, clinical hrs, class hrs...everything.

They cleared that i had been in classes but had to redo clinicals and before all that had to order new highschool transcripts. All together *** experiance.

Profit, Profit, Profit and a little Eduction!

AI Highlights
  • - Credits do not transfer to or from other institutions.
  • - Dental Hygiene AS costs $46k.
  • - Graduates may need to start over for a bachelor's degree.

Lets just look at the facts and the facts only. Okay, Medix College has in their enrollment application/agreement the following, "The Medix College does not guarantee transferability of credits either to or from other institutions" This is key b/c what is so tricky about "does not guarantee" is that it gives the current and future student false hope. (Misrepresentation)The student mind-set is, "okay at least some of the credits transfer", until the student begins the process of transferring and realizes colleges like Clayton State, GA. State, Chattahoochee, GA Perimeter College, Kennesaw State,Emory (which is private),North Metro, Southern Polytech, and many more refuses to accept Medix College credits.

Lets start with the most expensive program Dental Hygiene-AS program: Well these students pay roughly 46,362.00. For an associates degree!? Not a Bachelors! So when they complete the program at Medix College, go to work and further their education THE STUDENT has to start completely over! Yes in addition to a debt of 46,362.00, plus the NEW debt for the pursuant of a bachelors degree. THAT IS INSANE!

Yet look at how many students attend this program. Are the Dental Hygeine students willfully or ignorantly choosing to pay roughly 46,362.00 for an AS knowing the colleges mention above offer the same product with an EXTREMELY LOWER price tag!? Who is really getting the BENIFITS here?! Not to mention the curriculum which is not at a matching collegiate level; definitely a handicap in that it sets the student up for failure as they continue their education in 4yr institutions.

I guess the great part of the experience at Medix College is when a student is done...they get to START ALL OVER! WAKE UP STUDENTS!

Fraudulent & Shameful Education

AI Highlights
  • - Quotas are forecast-based.
  • - Reps act like salesmen.
  • - Non-degreed staff teach degrees.
  • - Exams were sold and graduation issues occurred.

The admissions representatives' quotas are based upon figures determined by financial forecasts and budget calculations which have NO relationship to the education of the students, but are PURELY profit driven! The admissions reps act like car salesman, telling prospective students whatever they want to hear so they'll go to Medix College.

In addition to maladaptive recruiting practices, Medix College currently has non-degreed educators teaching degree programs! Explain to the students at Medix College how this could go on! Moreover, the educators who do not have a degree are currently enrolled in Medix College On-line degree programs with the students that are currently being taught! Talk about conflict of interest. The educators who are currently enrolled to attain their degree are GIVEN a passing grade for compliance. What's more, many of the educators and department heads have falsified degrees/files to ensure accreditation. This is FRAUD!

Two or three months prior to writing this letter our college had an educator by the name of Donald Williams teaching the Medical Assisting Associates of Occupational Science program without a degree and selling exams to students. He was fired, but the college allowed the students who purchased the exams to remain and finish their studies with full knowledge-the buying and selling of exams from this teacher has been going on for quite some time.

Additionally, our college failed each student at the graduation this past Friday November 12, 2010 and previous others. The college failed to provide a rehearsal, not enough or no programs, not even the college faculty and staff were all present at the ceremony. How embarrassedly sad and shameful! We the students pay anywhere from 13,960.00 to 46,362.00. Why is it that we cannot have a decent graduation?! Please Please Please investigate our college on every level! We the students at Medix College invite your agencies to come and speak with us concerning these matters. Ask former students, especially the recent graduates. We the students are tired of getting the short end of the stick.

Medix College/Medix School Smyrna, GA

AI Highlights
  • - The instructor is described as rude and unprofessional.
  • - The reviewer says she conflicts with the textbook and admits not reading it.

Hello,

I am writing to express my dissappointment with Ms Satterwhite at the Medix School. She is one of the medical assisting instructors. This teacher is extremely rude, and unprofessional. One of my chief complaints is that she does not handle situations that arise in a professional manner, and I believe she may have some type of mental problem. Ms Satterwhite's teaching conflicts with the textbook at times, and it is really irritating listening to an instructor who has already admitted that she has not read the textbook.

The main reason for my attending Medix College/School is to get a certificate so I can have some great skills to land a job in this terrible economy. I would have never dreamed that I would have to go through all of the red tape involved with attending this school.

It seems as though there is a huge difference between the people who work in a professional environment and the teachers within the medical assisting program. One thing that I learned upon being in the medical assisting program is that according to the textbook 90% of communication is non-verbal within the healthcare field. It is very sad for me to admit that my impression of Ms Satterwhite's nonverbal communication is that she is unprofessional, incompetent, and incapable of handling the demands of teaching in this field and that she needs to go back to her CNA position and allow someone who is more competent, professional, and caring lead the class and assist in the success of the students.

This is a very sad situation.

What Defenses Are Available To People Accused of Defamation?

The most important defense to an action for defamation is "truth", which is an absolute defense to an action for defamation.

Another defense to defamation actions is "privilege". For example, statements made by witnesses in court, arguments made in court by lawyers, statements by legislators on the floor of the legislature, or by judges while sitting on the bench, are ordinarily privileged, and cannot support a cause of action for defamation, no matter how false or outrageous.

A defense recognized in most jurisdictions is "opinion". If the person makes a statement of opinion as opposed to fact, the statement may not support a cause of action for defamation. Whether a statement is viewed as an expression of fact or opinion can depend upon context - that is, whether or not the person making the statement would be perceived by the community as being in a position to know whether or not it is true. If your employer calls you a pathological liar, it is far less likely to be regarded as opinion than if such a statement is made by somebody you just met. Some jurisdictions have eliminated the distinction between fact and opinion, and instead hold that any statement that suggests a factual basis can support a cause of action for defamation.

A defense similar to opinion is "fair comment on a matter of public interest". If the mayor of a town is involved in a corruption scandal, expressing the opinion that you believe the allegations are true is not likely to support a cause of action for defamation.

A defendant may also attempt to illustrate that the plaintiff had a poor reputation in the community, in order to diminish any claim for damages resulting from the defamatory statements.

A defendant who transmitted a message without awareness of its content may raise the defense of "innocent dissemination". For example, the post office is not liable for delivering a letter which has defamatory content, as it is not aware of the contents of the letter.

An uncommon defense is that the plaintiff consented to the dissemination of the statement.

First of all do not be threatened by this whole deformation of character because at the end of the day we are entitle to our opinion however that maybe perceived.

At the end of the day, whats more important is a thorough investigation into these concerns, allegations, and comments.

Who is not the issue more so the policies, practices, and contract ambiguity/jargon are the real issues.

The staff at Medix College are not being attack! The policies, practices, and contract ambiguity/jargon are!

May god help the person who wrote this last comment...first of all

all of these comments did not come from one single person and it looks like there are many students angry so um...please

anyway....the best way to not have someone "defame" your character is to definitely not defame it yourself and then no one would hardly be saying anything about this aweful teacher, revealing the answers to students before a test...

get some academic integrity Ms Satterwhite,....

May the good lord help you

While you’re sitting on here posting these comments, You better be aware that you can be sued for defamation of character. You’re smart but not smart enough…If you have nothing to hide identify yourself..However sweet heart you are not smart enough…They can find out who started these blogs……It’s nothing to trace your IP address, find what area these blogs have come from…Oh did I mention every computer have their own Mac number, so you can be found…..I will admit that we as Americans have that right “ FREEDOM OF SPEAK” there is a fine line between freedom of speak and slander…You’re riding that line of slander…According to most slander laws, the highest level of defense against a slander claim is the "truth" as defined by the courts. Another defense to defamation actions is "privilege….You proof read some of the accusations you posted…, And make sure everything is accurate…Oh and if you’re going to post a dozen of time proclaiming to be different ppl…Have someone else type for you…You sound the same in all your post *** *** ***….

God is watching and he will set the record straight for the damage that Medix is causing to those trying to get some training to get a job in this tough economy....

I will leave it up to him...He is definitely in control..What people need to understand is if the gtrade they're getting is an easy A it is not worth it and they are fooling no one...Rather than take an easy A...invest in a real school and work hard...then you will obtain the job of your dreams....

Anything positive listed on this site about this incompetent teacher, Ms Satterwhite, prospective students please be warned it is just the school staff members on here trying to make the negative comments disappear.....I know the poor academic integrity that this school has within its medical assisting program will shine through

Guest

Ms Satterwhite is producing some of the most incompetent healthcare professionals on the planet!! The public should be warned and aware that this school has no academic integrity whatsoever

Guest

to whom this may concern,

I was actually a student at Medix College about a little over a year ago and had Ms. Satterwhite as my instructor for multiple classes. She is one of the most professional and understanding intructors they have there. When put in a situation she knows how to deal with it, trust me Ive seen it. Ive never heard of a student hating her as much as you do. They do background checks on all there instuctors before hiring them and obviously there is nothing wrong with her. Also as a matter of fact I know 100% that she has read the text book because we read it as a class when we went over chapter by chapter. I do not know where you are getting your information but before you put something down negative about someone or slander someone make sure you know what you are talking about.

I dont know who told you that 90% of communication is non-verbal in the healthcare field beacuse its common sense that in the medical field alot of what you are doing is verbal. You have to communicate with the patients in order to give a diagnosis. I also know for a fact that Ms. Satterwhite will NOT be leaving Medix College until she wants because we love her there and she is a great addition to Medix.

I dont want to get personal with you but did you get picked on as a kid/adult?? Usually when someone says something like this about another person they are having issues in their life or have had issues. I pray that you find God and he can get you through this hard time. Just dont forget "He loves you" and your life will be so much better with him in it.

I hope you the best in years to come.
