Verified ReviewerDid not get rebate
My disabled daughter had a telephone appointment for scripts. I paid the full $80+ for the appointment, and when the doctor's receptionist went to get the rebate, it would not allow it.
So they told me to submit it to Medicare online. This I did, and 4 days later I got a message in the app saying that no rebate would be paid as it had been paid already. I did not receive it. I rang Medicare today for them to inform me that they can't tell me anything because it's my daughter's Medicare account, and I don't have access.
Now I have been paying her doctor's bills since there is a gap and received the rebate, and there was never a problem. All of a sudden, it's a problem. Now I have to get power of attorney, etc.
That means I have to pay more to a lawyer. Not once was I contacted that things had changed, and actually, the Medicare representative said nothing has changed.

Verified ReviewerNo Acknowledgment on my application
I'm only looking for update on my application. It has been mover 4 weeks and not a even an acknowledgment.
This whole situation is driving me nuts.
I feel like I'm running in circles like a headless chicken. Dealing with this stupid "AI" computer that doesn't even comprehend our stress and emotions is beyond frustrating. I've wasted so much time pressing all these damn options, only to end up being redirected to the website.
And guess what? The website is utterly useless!
I can't get all the answers or complete what I need to do there. It's like a never-ending loop that eventually throws me back to calling Medicare.
What the heck am I supposed to do? This circus has been going on for over a month now, and it's absolutely infuriating.

Your post is hard to follow what’s actually happened. If Medicare is in effect, there is no rebate allowed.
Medicare bills and pricing cannot accept rebates, nor can the patient. You talk of a “gap”. If Medicare is NOT in effect AND not being billed even one cent, then yes you can pay the cash price and get the rebate.
But the rebate has nothing to do with Medicare. As far as denying you information and access over the phone, unless Medicare has a signed power of attorney that you handle your daughter’s health care and financial matters, they cannot assist you.
I'll try to word it a different way. Evet since my daughter was born i have had her on my Medicare card.
She is now 36 years old. Over the last few years when you paid the doctor $80 for a consult you recieved $40 back as a rebate. This has never been an issue until last week when no rebate was received yet it says it has given it. 6 months ago she had an appointment the payment and rebate went through after I had changed the bank details as I had a new account.
Now it hasn't. So what i see is that the government has my money.
My issue is i don't want to access her Medicare account i just want the rebate paid back. This should not be a problem as it has been paid everytime since we had to start paying a gap.
