AI Highlights
  • Low value overall; service and durability are poor.

  • Back rollers are only OK.

They offered to fix my chair and give me a give me 2 years free warranty service but I would have had to remove my complaint which I was not willing to do. I would have been willing to amend my complaint but not remove it. The only reason they were willing talk to me after 2 years is because I registered this complaint with you publically because before this they did absolutely nothing despite my complaints.

2/5 Star Medical Breakthrough Massage Chair 8
TLDR: Totally not worth it. I will not buy again or ever recommend them.

While the massage chair itself gets a B+ rating, the service and durability get an F and the cost of repair, after the warranty expires, is actually offensive.
Ill start with the positives. If you like a really hard massage (which I do!), this is a really great chair for the calves, thighs, shoulders, forearms, and feet because of the many airbags.
The back rollers are just ok. The neck massage is barely passable, probably because it is relying on a removable airbag that bounces your head rather than massages your neck. My brother owns a Luraco i7 that puts the rollers right under the base of the skull and then gives a great stretch(amazing!).
The lining of the chair for the arm and calf rests are made from some synthetic material which is slightly scratchy on the skin and not what I would expect for a chair costing over $10,000.
The chair has so many moving parts you are going to need repairs, so if you buy it against my advice, the extended warranty is worth it but the service is horrible.

I bought this chair in Oct 2019. Within 2 months I had issues with chair not being able to stay in the upright position. It was not repaired until 1 year later! It took 3-4 months to get someone to call me back (they blamed the pandemic shutdown which did not start until April 2020).

Then another 6 months before they finally diagnosed and fixed the problem, having made 4 attempts to exchange parts. Getting a technician to come out each time was extremely difficult. I live in TX and he told me that he contracts with the company but is based in Florida and travels regionally (not good for a company that boasts about having technicians everywhere).
After coming back from a 6 month out-of-town assignment (and one week after my 3 year warranty expired), I discovered that the back rollers were no longer moving. I was told that I had 3 options since my warranty expired.

Pay $3000 for the part, $4500 for a tech to repair it, or buy a new chair for $6500 because they will give me $8800 credit for my old chair. This feels like a scam to get us to purchase another chair.
Totally not worth it!

The company never contacted me

Original review Apr 15, 2024

I bought their most expensive chair the controls went bad within a month or two. A month latter the entire mother board went bad and they finally got that fixed.

With in a year the foot roller stopped working. This never got fixed and the entire foot unit now is broke see pictures.

After the mother board crashed, the entire top portion of the chair stopped working. After a few months, they replaced that portion.

Now the entire foot unit is broken.i Have sent them pictures and explanations of the part.

Can your gentleman do something? it's a lemon

User's recommendation: Don't waste your money!!!!!

I purchased a Medical Breakthrough X in July 2022. On July 5, 2025, my husband used the chair and sustained a serious back injury. Just posted my review of this chair.
