Refused to refund money even though I had a receipt for an item purchased the same day.

I manage 13 rental units, maintain the units, remodel and build new dwellings for myself. I have been doing business with McCoy's since they opened the store several years ago.. They have my information on file, but due to all of the spam phone calls, I have declined to not give my phone # out each time I come in. I also pay by debit card. On this particular day, I purchased an item not knowing if it would work. When I tried it I found that it didn't fit, so I returned it to McCoy's the same day with my purchase receipt in hand.. After tax i the cost of the item was a little over $2.00. The cashier asked for my phone Number, which I declined to give at purchase and did not give when I tried to return the item.. The Assistant Manager was called. He stated that even though I had the receipt, their policy was to not make returns without a phone #. I guess the logo on the paper bags stating that you will need a receipt to return the items is a lie. It should say that you need a receipt and a phone #. It appears that getting data on the customers is more important than good business. I am not interested in getting my $2.00 back. If they cant be trusted with the small things, then I will not be doing any business with them again.

User's recommendation: It appears that getting the Mega Data is more important than good business. Perhaps they are selling the info.

I asked this person to put a complaint about the treatment of this person as it was the most disrespectful to an adult who doubled is age. The other person and the manager attended to me in the most attentive manner and exhausted all the opportunities and similarities of the product. Unfortunately, I did not find what I wanted IN PHARR TEXAS

We don't care if we screwed you and caused you great expense. Go away!

A couple weeks ago I went into the Nacogdoches McCoys where I've shopped many times. Out front was an 8' long pallet with a lot of good Hardie board pieces and a $25 price tag. I went in and asked the cashier woman if it was $25 for the whole bundle and she said yes. I'll take it I said and also bought two sheets of drywall. After I paid, I asked if she would have somebody cut the bands on the pallet so I could load the Hardie board in my truck. Oh no, she said, you need to bring a trailer so they can load to whole thing. I asked if I could have some days because my trailer was in use elsewhere. Yes, she said and announced that she was going out to put a sold notice on the pallet. As the two guys in the yard were loading my sheetrock, I asked how many days I had to pickup the pallet. "Fifteen days" they said. I repeated it back to them. During the next week I called four times to verify that I was coming and what day I was coming. Only once did a female clerk act clueless about what I was talking about but said okay in agreement. I took off work early on a Monday after having gone to much trouble to retrieve my trailer and unload a tractor. When I got to the store I noticed the pallet was gone. I recognized the manager (Jay) from 25 years of business at Union Salvage and Wholesale warehouse. He acted clueless about the pallet. i showed him my receipt and he called a couple guys, still clueless. They never found it and he started to turn it against me, asking who told me 15 days and that I should've loaded it immediately, even though the woman wouldn't let me. There was no effort to make it up, just begrudginly shoving my refund toward me. I said I would never come back and Jay, who knew of my loyalty for 25 years said something like "okay," like it was no big deal to impact somebody that way. If he care he could've said they would call me when they had the next pallet of Hardie culls and keep it for me. No, just get lost and we dont' care was what i got for my years of loyatly to him and both Nacogdoches and Lufkin stores. Harry's gave me free water at a festival the day before. I'll be going there from now on.

Cons
  • Being screwed by a manager i have done business with for years
Reason of review
Sold my paid item to somebody else and lied about it, implying that somebody came during the night with their own forklift and stole the pallet.

Give a *** attitude

Went to McCoy's lumber in Tomball, TX to purchase 1 (one) used railroad tie. I paid for same and went to lumber yard to have it loaded. When I got to the stacks of ties, there were about six ties that were not bundled. They all were beaten up beyond usability and had obviously been rejected by other customers. I asked if they could open another bundle that contained better quality ties that hadn't been picked through. Employee said that they weren't allowed to open bundles as volunteered to seek permission to do so. He went away and returned with a young fellow with a scraggly beard who advised me that they wouldn't open another bundle. Pointing out the *** ties that were lying loose didn't change anything. I requested a refund for my payment and left. *** poor customer service. Better service even at Lowe's or Home Depot.
