Unethical Car Dealerships
We were looking for a used car for my older sister. We found a beautiful car at Mazda of Greenville, which was--and still is--under the ownership of the Fred Anderson Automotive Group.
They have gone by both names: Mazda of Greenville and Fred Anderson Mazda. My sister fell in love with a car and I told the manager, Adam (a corporate manager), that I wanted to take it to my mechanic. He went on about what a fine car it was and how it had been thoroughly checked out by his mechanics. He said, "Actually, I've just realized that car is under-priced.
Let me put it this way: If the car leaves this lot, I'm adding at least $2000 to the price when it comes back." I would have walked, but my widowed sister loved it so much I didn't try to stop her from buying it. 40 miles after we drove it away it broke down. It needs over $6000 in repairs. NO ethical dealership is going to not allow your mechanic to check a car out.
This manager, I discovered, goes from dealership to dealership when Fred Anderson does a takeover, training the managers the "Fred Anderson" way of doing business. Stay away from ALL of them!
